Twenty-sixth appointment with “Macché te lo guardi?”, the weekly column by Calciostyle dedicated to the 2024/2025 Serie A women’s championship.
The women’s football movement in Italy in recent years is gaining more and more space, attracting the interest of millions of fans who live the sport in our dear Boot. Despite there still being a vast majority of people who “snub” this category, in recent seasons there have been several events and facts that have elevated women’s football to a very high level.
We cannot overlook the transition to professionalism (1st July 2022) and achieving milestones that until a few years ago were unthinkable, such as reaching the quota of 40 thousand spectators for a single match.
Compared to other European countries (Spain and England above all), the difference in audience and interest surrounding women’s football is, to quote a famous Roman expression, “still a dear friend,” meaning very wide.
Also taking advantage of the irreverence of the title of the column “Macché, te lo guardi?”, we want to shed further light on a reality that is increasingly taking hold in our beloved country: women’s football. Because in the end, we Italians are only interested in watching and commenting on the game of football, regardless of who is playing.
Women’s Serie A, the eighth round of Poule Scudetto and Poule Salvezza
The end of the 2024/2025 Women’s Serie A championship is drawing closer. In the last round, several outcomes were decided, such as the victory of Tricolore of Juventus and the historic qualification of Inter in the Champions League, which diverted attention slightly from the relegation battle in this round of Poule Salvezza between Napoli and Sampdoria. The Neapolitans emerged victorious and, with two rounds to go, are clearly securing their place in Serie A. In the other match, Lazio crushed Como thanks to a superb performance by Le Bihan, who scored a hat-trick to defeat the team from Como.
In the Poule Scudetto, after celebrating their sixth Tricolore in history, Juventus fell at home to Fiorentina, while in the Milan derby, Piovani‘s girls scored four goals, adding the icing on the cake called Women’s Champions League.

Poule Salvezza
Le Bihan show: Lazio strolls past Como
Como – Lazio 0 – 4
27′, 42′, 49′ Le Bihan (L), 76′ Piemonte (L)
The Lazio team coached by Grassadonia secured their fourth consecutive victory with a resounding 0-4 win away at Como. The standout performer of the match was the number 11 for Lazio, Le Bihan, who scored three goals that sealed the game in just 50 minutes.
The match started with Como coming close to scoring first. From a corner kick, Rizzon directed the ball towards the goal, but it was cleared off the line by Benoit. After this early scare, the home team completely capitulated to Lazio, who took control and broke the deadlock just before the half-hour mark with a goal from Le Bihan.
A cross from the left-wing by Benoit found the number 11 in the penalty area, who headed the ball past the opposing goalkeeper with a brilliant header that nestled into the far corner. The French striker was in exceptional form and added another goal just a few minutes before the end of the first half.
A reckless and naive foul by Marcussen on Piemonte resulted in a penalty, which was confidently converted by Le Bihan, despite not striking the ball cleanly.
Como was nowhere to be seen on the field. In the second half, Lazio continued their shooting practice against Gilardi, the Como goalkeeper. The standout player was undoubtedly Le Bihan, who scored a spectacular long-range goal, completing her hat-trick with a delicate lob from thirty meters that caught Gilardi off guard, virtually ending the match.
Piemonte, the second-highest goal scorer in the Serie A with 15 goals, sealed the comprehensive victory for Lazio with a precise curling shot that nestled into the far corner, leaving no chance for the Como goalkeeper. This win was crucial for Lazio as they prepared to secure the top spot in the Poule Salvezza and return to the top flight. It was the second consecutive defeat for Como.

Napoli clinches the relegation battle: Barbieri condemns Sampdoria
Napoli – Sampdoria 2 – 1
10′ Llopis (S), 24′ Giordano (N), 58′ Bellucci (N)
Napoli emerged victorious in the relegation battle against Sampdoria and took a significant step towards securing their place in the top flight. The defeat leaves Sampdoria four points adrift of safety with two matches remaining.
It was the visitors who started brightly, finding the opening goal with Llopis on their first foray into the Napoli penalty area. From a corner kick, a scramble in the box saw the Sampdoria forward quickest to the loose ball, which she dispatched past Bacic with a precise right-footed finish.
Napoli responded quickly and leveled the score at 24 minutes through Giordano. The former player made a darting run from the left side, cut inside to beat Bertucci, and unleashed a powerful right-footed shot from an acute angle that beat Larsen and nestled under the crossbar. Napoli looked more dominant and came close to taking the lead just before halftime with a long-range effort from Banusic. After a great nutmeg on Barbieri, Banusic attempted a shot from 40 meters in an attempt to catch Larsen off guard, but the ball narrowly missed the target.
The decisive goal came just before the hour mark. Sampdoria made a glaring error in their build-up play, with Barbieri gifting the ball to Bellucci on the edge of the box, who gratefully accepted the gift, controlled the ball, and fired past the Sampdoria goalkeeper.
Sampdoria had a chance to equalize in the 85th minute through Baldi. A long pass intercepted by the Napoli defense inadvertently fell to Baldi, who took a clear shot in the penalty area, hitting the crossbar. This missed opportunity ended any hopes of a comeback for Sampdoria, who are likely to bid farewell to the top flight at the end of the season unless there are miraculous turnarounds.

Rest: Sassuolo
Poule Scudetto
Janogy leads Fiorentina: Champions League qualification still open
Fiorentina – Juventus 3 – 1
9′, 81′ Janogy (F), 25′ Severini (F), 90+1′ Godo (J)
Fiorentina under De La Fuente returned to winning ways after two heavy defeats against Roma and Milan. At the Viola Park, they faced a Juventus team fresh off winning the Tricolore, with coach Canzi giving playing time to those who had played less during the season.
Fiorentina started strong with Bonfantini hitting the crossbar just four minutes into the game from close range. The Viola were rampant and shortly after, Janogy converted a counterattack: a solo effort from the number 9 who ran the length of the field, entered the penalty area, and tested Proulx with a low shot. From the resulting corner, the home team took the lead through Janogy.
A corner from the left by Bredgaard found the Swedish striker unmarked at the back post, where she evaded her marker and slotted home past the Juventus goalkeeper. Fiorentina continued to create dangerous opportunities and doubled their lead at 25 minutes. Bredgaard went one-on-one against Thomas in the penalty area, with the Juventus defender bringing her down, resulting in a penalty.
Severini stepped up and calmly converted the spot-kick to beat Proulx.
In the second half, Juventus came out with renewed vigor and started to pose more threats to Durante. The Bianconere pushed forward but were denied first by the woodwork from a personal effort by Kullberg and then by Durante in inspired form. The Fiorentina goalkeeper made at least four crucial saves that prevented Juventus from getting back into the game.
Fiorentina struck again, this time through Janogy on another corner. This time from the right side, the result was the same. A corner delivered to the back post, Proulx came out but missed the ball, allowing the Swedish striker to score into an empty net, virtually sealing the match.
Juventus got a consolation goal in stoppage time. After Durante saved a close-range shot from Bonansea, the rebound fell to Godo, who scored from close range, making the defeat less bitter for the Bianconere.
This win was crucial for Fiorentina as they closed the gap on Roma, who were resting, with two matches remaining and a direct clash against the Giallorosse scheduled for the final match of the season. The qualification for the Champions League will depend significantly on the home game against Roma under Spugna.

Nerazzurri score four in derby: after Champions League qualification, comes the icing on the cake
Milan – Inter 1 – 4
8′ Milinkovic (I), 27′ Dompig (M), 59′ Polli (I), 85′, 90+1′ Wullaert (I)
At the Puma House of Football, two in-form teams faced off. On one side, Milan had a very positive Poule Scudetto, achieving several successes, while on the other side, an Inter side galvanized by their historic qualification for the Women’s Champions League.
Inter took the lead early with a tap-in goal from Milinkovic. A cross from the left found Polli unmarked, who struck the ball towards goal. A superb reflex save by Fedele left the ball loose in the area, where the Inter defender was quickest to react and scored from close range.
Milan responded quickly and leveled the derby at 27 minutes through Dompig. The striker, teed up at the edge of the box, cut inside, and unleashed a shot that struck the hand of Merlo, resulting in a penalty for the home team. Dompig stepped up and converted from the spot with a composed finish.
The balanced first half gave way to a second half dominated by Inter. At the hour mark, Polli restored Inter’s lead with a fantastic goal. The forward, wearing number 9, single-handedly inspired the team with a brilliant solo goal: a slalom run to evade two defenders and a low shot to beat Fedele as she came out. From that moment, Milan mentally collapsed, leaving spaces for their opponents.
In the final minutes, taking advantage of these defensive gaps, Inter ran riot with a double from Wullaert. At the 85th minute, Detruyer crossed for Wullaert at the center, who volleyed with her left foot to beat Fedele. Six minutes later, the Belgian sealed the game with a close-range finish into an empty net after an excellent assist, her second of the day, from Detruyer.
It was a bitter defeat for Milan, who bid farewell to their fans with a loss, their first in a derby. In fact, in the three previous derbies this season, all three had ended in draws. On the other hand, Inter celebrated their Women’s Champions League qualification with a resounding victory.

The performances of the Italian National Team (reaching the semifinals) at the European Championship in Switzerland this summer certainly brought a lot of attention to the entire movement, but there is still a long way to go to give the right spotlight to the Italian championship. Disappointing home debut for Rossettini’s Roma. Defeated 0-4 against Barcelona’s aliens in a sold-out Tre Fontane. Second matchday and second defeat for Roma under Rossettini in the Women’s Champions League. After facing Real Madrid a week ago, Roma welcomed the aliens from Barcelona. “Aliens” because they are not only one of the strongest, if not the strongest, teams in the world, but also had a superb start to the season. Since the beginning of the 2025/2026 season, Barcelona has played 8 matches, winning all of them, scoring 44 goals and conceding only two. A true powerhouse, which also crushed the Giallorossa team in a completely sold-out Tre Fontane. ROMA FEMMINILE FORMATION (PHOTO BY SALVATORE FORNELLI)
Despite a significant technical gap, Rossettini‘s girls managed to keep up with the Spanish team in the first half, ending the first half only one goal down, scored less than two minutes into the match. Roma played a defensive game, trying to limit Barcelona‘s constant passing game and exploiting their high defensive line for counterattacks. The opportunity for an equalizer came to Viens, who faced the opposing goalkeeper one-on-one but was unable to score. In the second half, due to collective fatigue, Barcelona scored three more goals past Baldi‘s goal. The Spanish team also missed a penalty with former Ballon d’Or winner Putellas, who shot high. Despite the differences on the field, there are positive aspects for coach Rossettini to take into account for the upcoming matches in the league and Champions League, where the opponents will be, at least on paper, more manageable and within reach. Roma – Barcelona 0 – 4 (2′ Brugts, 58′ Nazareth, 71′ pen. Putellas, 90′ Hansen)
