The new coach of Lecce, who arrived after the dismissal of Gotti, Marco Giampaolo made some statements in a press conference where the entire management of the Salento club will intervene, including the president Sticchi Damiani, the technical area manager Corvino, and the sports director Trinchera
Lecce, Giampaolo’s words
What is your mood returning to the field?
“Two years is a long time, but after a first break, I resumed working. Work is also mental, simulating being on the field. In the last year, I worked remotely.
I have watched Lecce, not live but on TV during this season. I have reviewed it in detail in recent days. Before judging the players, you have to train them. I am very enthusiastic. We need to enter a new environment so I need to understand as soon as possible, and then I will be able to respond on individuals.
Rebic, I coached him for maybe a month, then at the time, I was playing in a way that was not conducive to his characteristics. I remember a determined guy, I am happy to meet him again”.
Do you already know how you will make Rebic play?
“How many players do we have in the squad? It should not be a reason for evaluation of where I will play him. Everyone should be an asset to the team, Rebic like Krstovic and Burnete. My focus has always been on the team. Matches are played with 16 players, we need to make a mental leap”.
How has football changed in these two years?
“It has changed. Before, there were those who thought about covering spaces, today it is man-to-man marking. Today, there are no longer fixed game systems, defending in one way and attacking in another. It has changed a lot, and we need to keep up with the changes”.
Where will you intervene tactically and mentally?
“There have been teams fighting for survival, we have to play until the last match. Now I need to know the players in detail and understand which direction to take. We have seven players on international duty. Today we train with 12”.
Corvino asked for a field coach. What does that mean for you?
“Field coaches are a football jargon that directors use. You should ask the director what he meant, I have characteristics that represent me”.
What formation will you use?
“The team was built to play in a certain way: a back four, three midfielders, two wingers, and one striker. If you want to see it that way statically…”.
You build from the bottom, but we have two right-footed defenders. Does that affect your decisions?
“Not all teams have a right-footed and a left-footed player. It is a perspective that can help more or less. We need to delve into tactical discussions. I don’t think it’s the end of the world”.
Do you think corrections are needed in January?
“I need to delve deeper to be more precise. I need to discover the Lecce world. I have watched matches, we have compared and talked”.
Why did you say yes to Lecce?
“Lecce is a great opportunity for me. I believe there are players who have the characteristics to express my ideas. It is a yes motivated by technical reasons.
I had offers abroad, but it was purely economic and not technical. Corvino asked me to work. He spoke to me about Lecce as a beautiful city”.
What will be the characteristic traits of Giampaolo’s Lecce?
“I want to play football. If you have superior ball possession, it means you have the ball more than the opponent. To play football, you need knowledge and technical qualities. I believe there are technical qualities in this team. For me, the longer you are on the field, the more you run, just to give an example”.
How important is the fans’ support?
“Crucial. The team should always be cheered on and should be booed if they deserve it. Players are human beings, and I believe unconditional support is crucial”.
What can make a difference in the race for survival?
“Details, in work and behavior”.
If you had to describe yourself with one adjective?
“I am looking to reaffirm my football ideas, and this team, this club, this environment are giving me an opportunity”.
Are there differences between a team that must win the championship and one that must avoid relegation?
“In terms of work, no. However, in a big club, you always have to win, while when you have to avoid relegation, you need to be resilient”
You described the playmaker as a musical player. Do you think there is such a player in Lecce?
“I need to delve deeper. The term is correct. I need to understand if there is a musical player”.
Dorgu on the right or on the left?
“I like players who play high up with their weaker foot. I like players who come inside the field”.
In closing.
“I want to thank the club for this opportunity, let’s hope this experience is positive for everyone”.

Lazio, good news: Rovella shortens recovery time

Good news for the unlucky Lazio of Maurizio Sarri: Nicolò Rovella is recovering optimally from pubalgia – early return anticipated?
The Lazio coach can finally smile. One of his most important players, Rovella, is showing great improvements. The midfielder is recovering from pubalgia by choosing to undergo conservative therapy rather than surgery, which would have kept him out for a longer period. So far, his choice seems to be paying off: his physical condition is significantly improving.

When will Rovella return to Lazio?
If things continue in this way, Nicolò Rovella could return to the field even before the November break. Initially, his reintroduction was scheduled for the middle of next month, but given the improvement in the situation, an early recovery is now likely. Of course, the midfielder will not be available for the match against Juventus in the next Serie A round, but he will be evaluated for the subsequent matches.

No good news for Cagliari of Pisacane, who is coming off a home defeat against Bologna: injury for a defender.
The Sardinians are preparing for the next league challenge against Hellas Verona. However, the coach must deal with physical problems affecting a key player for him: Yerry Mina. “Coach Pisacane’s red and blue team took to the field this afternoon at the CRAI Sport Center for the resumption of training: thus began the week that will lead Cagliari to the match of the 8th round of the Serie A championship against Hellas Verona, scheduled for Sunday, October 26.
The first part of the session was dedicated to ball possession exercises, followed by a series of small-sided games. To finish, an aerobic workout. Yerry Mina, who needs to recover from a strain in the left thigh flexors, worked individually, along with Alessandro Di Pardo, Marko Rog, Nicola Pintus, and Boris Radunovic.
Tomorrow, Wednesday 22, a new training session is scheduled for the morning.”
