Former midfielder Michele Pazienza has spoken about the upcoming Napoli-Roma match, with thoughts on Ranieri’s return to the Giallorossi and the title race.

Michele Pazienza was a good midfielder, a key player in Serie A especially with Udinese, Fiorentina, and Napoli between 2003 and 2011. Ahead of the league match between Napoli and Roma, scheduled for tomorrow at 6 pm, Pazienza gave an interview where he discussed various topics.

Pazienza’s words to Vocegiallorossa.it: “I expect a Roma that will try to close all spaces, forcing Napoli to push forward to exploit the counterattacks of its offensive players. Conte’s team has a clear identity, to beat them you have to play a perfect game.”

About Ranieri’s return: “Right now it’s the right choice, because he knows the environment like few others and has great experience to bring the Giallorossi back to the top. His career speaks for itself. In my opinion, the ownership made the right decision.”

Who needs to step up after the change in the dugout? “It’s not fair to talk about individuals in my opinion: when there’s a change in the dugout, all players need to give something extra regardless of before.”

About the title race: “Napoli and Inter are definitely the most favored teams. At the moment, many teams are close in points, but the quality available to both Conte and Inzaghi makes me expect that it will make the difference in the long run.”

The Fiorentina has just released a statement regarding the situation at the Franchi stadium. Following the announcement from the Municipality of Florence, the club has issued a response.

New developments on the construction site at the Franchi stadium after the Municipality announced further delays and that the works will not be completed in time for the club’s centenary.

Fiorentina, Franchi Stadium: The Club’s Statement

ACF Fiorentina, in response to today’s statement from the Municipality of Florence regarding the Franchi Stadium, clarifies that the Municipality has provided information in recent days regarding the progress of the works and the delays that are already expected by the end of 2026.

The Club can only express discontent and surprise considering the cooperation always shown, such as leaving the stadium free from the end of May to mid-September this year.

Further possible activities for the second part of the works have also been outlined, which at the moment could still involve several months away from the Franchi. Scenarios that can only generate concern and disappointment. In light of the latest information provided, as already communicated to the Municipality, the conditions for any involvement of Fiorentina in the project will need to be re-evaluated.

There is still great regret for not having been able to complete the New Franchi with previous interlocutors, which in 2019, President Commisso wanted to realize at his own expense, only to realize that this was never allowed.

The Franchi Stadium, already a construction site since February 2024, will remain so with all the economic and sporting difficulties that follow, certainly throughout the 2026/27 season, the year of the centenary.
