Lazio-Ludogorets, Baroni’s outburst: “We got nervous”

The match Tottenham-Roma, which on paper was really difficult for the Giallorossi, ended in a draw. Here’s what Ranieri said in the post-match.

What could have been, and seemed in the first 10 minutes, a possible disaster, turned out to be a useful result.

Roma managed to equalize in extremis in the Tottenham-Roma match thanks to a goal from Mats Hummels, who had won the penalty kick within the first 10 minutes of the game.

Taking home a match that according to coach Claudio Ranieri was really “necessary.”

Here are the words of the Giallorossi coach in the post-match interview, collected by Sky Sport.

Tottenham-Roma, Claudio Ranieri’s comments

On the match

“The boys played a great game, I wasn’t happy with the match against Napoli, we had to respond blow for blow and in Naples we didn’t do it – he says – I don’t want a team that closes up but one that attacks. Fans love a team that tries to win, whether it succeeds or not.

This time I explained myself well, the boys never gave up, I want a team that shows the fans that we’re here and that we haven’t forgotten how to play football.”

On Hummels’ goal

“Hummels arrived a tenth of a second later on the penalty, only VAR can see these things but he has incredible experience, he brought calm and security and he’s not yet at 100% and he can do very well in this defense.”

Roma: what has changed?

“I asked the team to dig deep into all their resources, Tottenham has incredible fast players, I complimented Postecoglu, we often surprised them, we were a bit imprecise in our crosses until we managed to break through.”

On the future and on Dybala

“I don’t believe one swallow makes a spring, we need to work hard to play good matches, certainly this team needed this match.

Dybala? He trained little and so tonight 45 minutes were more than enough, I didn’t want to risk it but he did very well.”
