Sampdoria, the management has decided to confirm Andrea Sottil despite the negative period the team is going through. Sunday sees the daunting away game against Sassuolo.

In the end, Sampdoria thought that it was not necessary to rely on a third coach for the season. After the hair-raising 3-3 draw against Catanzaro, in fact, the management decided to confirm Andrea Sottil on the bench.

This choice was certainly made for financial reasons, but also for the desire not to cause further upheaval, relying on the players’ pride, who seem to have lost their way. In the last five league games, in fact, there have been two draws and three defeats.

The playoff zone, meanwhile, has not escaped (there are two points that separate the blucerchiati from eighth place), but it is almost certain that, continuing on this trend, the risk of creating a significant gap with the positions that matter is very real.

Looking ahead to the next round of the league, Sunday sees the away game against Sassuolo. The neroverdi have not lost since the fourth matchday and have a decidedly top-notch team that, not surprisingly, is at the top of the table.

Yesterday, however, Fabio Grosso’s men suffered a tennis-like defeat in the Coppa Italia. The 6-1 loss at San Siro against Milan, although heavy, can partly be considered a separate story, in light of the fact that the Emilians have as their sole seasonal goal the return to Serie A.

The biggest risk of the match at the Mapei Stadium, therefore, will be facing a wounded and eager opponent seeking revenge, as well as technically well-equipped in terms of individual players.

Speaking of individuals, finally, there is good news from the infirmary for Sottil, who could call up both Coda and Borini against the neroverdi. The two, in fact, did separate work on the field yesterday and could be available on Sunday, even if they are not yet at 100%.
