Milan, Fonseca’s words
What kind of opponent is Red Star?
“They are a tough obstacle, they only have three points but are coming off a 5-1 win against Stuttgart”.
Who will replace Pulisic?
“Loftus-Cheek, I have total confidence in him”.
A Milan with dual speed between Serie A and Champions League…
“They are totally different matches, but in Serie A we are getting closer every day to what we are doing in the Champions League”.
What do you think in hindsight about the post-Atalanta match?
“I understand the curiosity, but today I just want to talk about the Champions League match”.
How is Theo doing?
“He is working well, we show him where he needs to improve”.
What changes with Loftus-Cheek and not with Pulisic?
“They are different players, but the role is the same and I want the same things. We can do the same things with Pulisic. In Champions League, the matches are a bit more open, so maybe there is a bit more space for him”.
Is Milan a team that must aim to always score one more goal than the opponent?
“Lately, we have improved a lot defensively. The match in Bratislava was a particular one, but the team has learned a lot defensively and I am sure that tomorrow we will do well defensively because the team is in much better shape”.
Gabbia-Thiaw tomorrow?
“We might make some changes, but not in the center”.
For Theo, is a bench role like Leao’s conceivable?
“They are different situations”.
Do you feel supported by the management?
“Always”.
However, the club cannot be happy with what they are seeing… It’s December and there is a lot of disappointment and lack of confidence in the environment. How can this be changed?
“We are working to change. I am here and I continue to believe that we are improving and we will end up in a different position. I have no doubts about this, which is why I continue to work every day with the same confidence and positivity I have had since day one. I understand, looking at the standings, the feelings of the fans. But we are working to improve”.
No striker duo tomorrow?
“Morata and Abraham will not play tomorrow. I have thought about it, but certainly not from the start”.
Is Milan aiming to enter the top eight?
“The most important thing is to win the next match, but I cannot say that we are not thinking about reaching the top eight”.
When you coach a team for Europe, do you do it differently?
“The Champions League is always a different competition, it is a different motivation. The way we prepare for matches is the same because we always want to win. The opponents, structures, and strategies change. In my mind, I know the prestige of Milan in Europe and how important it is to do well in the Champions League, because Milan is a Champions League team”.

Roma, a team with a dual identity: struggles in Europe
Views: 6
AS Roma started their journey in the Europa League rather negatively, with 2 defeats in the first 3 games. However, their performance in the league is quite different.
The home defeat against Viktoria Plzen left a bitter taste, along with some perplexity. Gasperini’s team has struggled to get going in the Europa League and has lost both home games so far. There have been too many defensive mistakes, which once again have cost the Giallorossi dearly.
Against Lille, it was Tsimikas who made a naive error that led to the French goal, while in yesterday’s game, it was young Ziolkowski who made the mistake and was substituted by Gasperini after just half an hour. While the defense seems to be the strong point of this team in the league, they are making too many mistakes and lack precision in the Europa League.
Roma, a sterile attack

Another rather evident problem, highlighted by the coach in the post-match interview, is the sterility of the attack. Apart from the Argentine Soulé, who has scored 3 goals in the league, the rest of the attack is struggling to perform.
Dovbyk and Ferguson seem out of place: two physically heavy players, rather clumsy with the ball at their feet, who are struggling to find the back of the net. The Ukrainian was booed off the Olimpico pitch yesterday, and every touch of the ball by the Irishman was met with loud grumbling from the entire stadium.
Dybala scored his first goal of the season from a penalty, but more is expected from him. Finally, Bailey is proving to be in form and able to make an impact, having come on in the last two games and igniting the Olimpico with his plays.
Gasperini must find a solution and hope to mentally recover his two strikers, who currently seem demoralized and disconnected from the team.
