Champions League Team of the Week: Juventus Absent

Carlo Belloni is more than just an agent for Di Gregorio, in fact, there is an almost brotherly relationship between the two. He spoke about the career of his client.
Carlo Alberto Belloni, agent of Di Gregorio, spoke following the Champions League match against Manchester City in which the goalkeeper of Juventus demonstrated his skills by making great saves. There is a strong friendship between the two that goes beyond work, as evidenced by the words of admiration the agent expresses towards his client.
There is a great sense of good humor and optimism surrounding Michele Di Gregorio given his excellent start to the season, where he has consistently delivered high-level performances, also thanks to the healthy internal competition with Mattia Perin.
From Serie C to miracles against Manchester City
Belloni spoke about his emotions after the great performance against Manchester City, as it marked the culmination of a great journey: “I am truly happy that Michele has shown his value even at an international level. Some matches are special and the performance displayed against Manchester City is one to remember. When I think back to when he played in Serie C, it moves me. He has earned everything with talent and hard work: I am proud of him.”
He then highlighted the most important save of the evening: “I choose the one on Halaand in the first half. The City striker was about to beat him with a lob, but DiGre with a quick hand pushed the ball out of the goal, saving the result. A crucial intervention for the match. If Manchester had taken the lead, it would have been tough for Juventus.”

Di Gregorio’s “No” to Liverpool
The agent later reveals a behind-the-scenes story from the summer transfer market: “In the summer, we said no to Liverpool to join Juventus’s project.”
He then stated what his client’s objectives are: “DiGre works hard to constantly improve. He even had a gym installed at home, so he trains even on his days off. He has an incredible mentality and his desire is to be part of a Juventus that makes history again, winning the most important trophies.”
Lastly, to satisfy some curiosity from inside the locker room, Belloni admitted who the players are that Di Gregorio has bonded with the most: “Michele always manages to get along well with everyone. I noticed a special connection with Perin and Pinsoglio. He also gets along very well with Locatelli: they live on the same floor and spend a lot of time together. I have known Manuel since he played in the youth teams at Milan: he is a good and intelligent guy who is performing like a leader.”

Roma, a team with a dual identity: struggles in Europe
Views: 6
AS Roma started their journey in the Europa League rather negatively, with 2 defeats in the first 3 games. However, their performance in the league is quite different.
The home defeat against Viktoria Plzen left a bitter taste, along with some perplexity. Gasperini’s team has struggled to get going in the Europa League and has lost both home games so far. There have been too many defensive mistakes, which once again have cost the Giallorossi dearly.
Against Lille, it was Tsimikas who made a naive error that led to the French goal, while in yesterday’s game, it was young Ziolkowski who made the mistake and was substituted by Gasperini after just half an hour. While the defense seems to be the strong point of this team in the league, they are making too many mistakes and lack precision in the Europa League.
Roma, a sterile attack

Another rather evident problem, highlighted by the coach in the post-match interview, is the sterility of the attack. Apart from the Argentine Soulé, who has scored 3 goals in the league, the rest of the attack is struggling to perform.
Dovbyk and Ferguson seem out of place: two physically heavy players, rather clumsy with the ball at their feet, who are struggling to find the back of the net. The Ukrainian was booed off the Olimpico pitch yesterday, and every touch of the ball by the Irishman was met with loud grumbling from the entire stadium.
Dybala scored his first goal of the season from a penalty, but more is expected from him. Finally, Bailey is proving to be in form and able to make an impact, having come on in the last two games and igniting the Olimpico with his plays.
Gasperini must find a solution and hope to mentally recover his two strikers, who currently seem demoralized and disconnected from the team.
