The coach of Lazio Marco Baroni spoke today at a press conference on the eve of the championship derby on Sunday evening with Roma. Among the topics discussed were the emotions of the coach in his first derby and the overall state of the team.
The first derby: what are your emotions?
“We live for these matches, they are wonderful because they are filled with passion. Not only me, but the whole team must approach this match with all the joy that should be in playing such a game.”
It will be a balanced challenge and for that reason even more beautiful
“I want to make a small premise, we are playing this match on Sunday, not two months ago. In the last five matches, we have earned the same points and since Ranieri arrived, they have scored twice as many goals. It will be a balanced challenge and for that reason even more beautiful.”

In this match, there is the passion of an entire city
“It is said that these are matches that prepare themselves, for me, we prepare all together. In this match, there is the passion of an entire city, when you live with passion, there is beauty. Passion also brings pain, what I am bringing to the team is to approach with all the joy that you should have in approaching such a beautiful and wonderful match.”
I always talk about performance, the performance must always be there and we cannot make mistakes in our attitudes
“This changes nothing, what I said before because we are facing a solid and very dangerous opponent. I always talk about performance, the performance must always be there and we cannot make mistakes in our attitudes, work on compactness and balance. If it were up to me, the open doors are the most beautiful thing, if there is ever a need to feel the warmth, it is a gift that we want to give to our fans because this contact and closeness are part of that passion I talked about earlier, we want to give this feeling and tomorrow we can be close and almost touch each other.”

Fiorentina, Franchi Stadium: The Club’s Statement
ACF Fiorentina, in response to today’s statement from the Municipality of Florence regarding the Franchi Stadium, clarifies that the Municipality has provided information in recent days regarding the progress of the works and the delays that are already expected by the end of 2026.
The Club can only express discontent and surprise considering the cooperation always shown, such as leaving the stadium free from the end of May to mid-September this year.
Further possible activities for the second part of the works have also been outlined, which at the moment could still involve several months away from the Franchi. Scenarios that can only generate concern and disappointment. In light of the latest information provided, as already communicated to the Municipality, the conditions for any involvement of Fiorentina in the project will need to be re-evaluated.
There is still great regret for not having been able to complete the New Franchi with previous interlocutors, which in 2019, President Commisso wanted to realize at his own expense, only to realize that this was never allowed.
The Franchi Stadium, already a construction site since February 2024, will remain so with all the economic and sporting difficulties that follow, certainly throughout the 2026/27 season, the year of the centenary.
