Inter, Frattesi and Zielinski’s below-par performances against Milan reveal how the so-called substitutes are not close to the level of the starters.

The defeat in the Super Cup against Milan still stings at Inter, even though the necessary reflections started from the sad night in Riyadh.

Watching a trophy slip away is always a bitter pill to swallow, but even more so are the ways and reasons for which it happened.

The team’s physical condition in particular, collapsed in the final part of the match, forcing Simone Inzaghi to make wise use of substitutions, especially in light of the physical problems faced, up to that moment, by De Vrij and Calhanoglu.

And here we come to the sore spot. Those who came on as substitutes greatly disappointed expectations, making the starters missed.

Speaking of Kristian Asllani, who has clearly shown he cannot reach Calhanoglu’s levels, the other two players who disappointed in Saudi Arabia were Piotr Zielinski and Davide Frattesi.

Consider that, since the start of the season, the former Sassuolo midfielder has amassed 22 appearances, along with 3 goals and an assist.

The conclusion is clear. While he finds himself competing with players like Barella, Mkhitaryan, and Calhanoglu, it cannot be said that Frattesi is denied the right space to try to disrupt the hierarchy.

The same can be said for Zielinski, called to cover various roles as needed, but also with inconsistent performances.

Finally, it seems superficial to describe in words what this means in practical terms, namely a “short blanket” for Inzaghi even with many players numerically.

A gap in quality that shows, even more, how the substitutes are strong, but not yet ready to be starters in an Inter team competing on three fronts.

La Lazio è in emergenza e, su questo, nemmeno lo stesso Maurizio Sarri si è nascosto.

Oltre a Pellegrini, Castellanos, Cancellieri, Rovella e Gigot potrebbe aggiungersi anche Tavares. Il rischio più concreto per il terzino portoghese potrebbe essere uno strappo.

Se il tecnico toscano sperava di poter avere certezze in difesa, in questo momento risulta molto difficile averne.

Per quanto riguarda la gara contro la Juventus, oggi Luca Pellegrini farà un test, dato che è alle prese con un edema a un ginocchio.

Isaksen prenderà il posto di Cancellieri, Dia sostituirà nuovamente Castellanos e per il resto la formazione sarà la stessa delle scorse giornate.

Lazio, Tavares calato di rendimento

L’ultimo assist con i biancocelesti è arrivato contro la Real Sociedad in Europa League, lo scorso 23 gennaio.

In Serie A, invece, è persino più remoto: 31 ottobre 2024, contro il Como. Quasi un anno senza assist in campionato.

Lo stesso giocatore che, appena arrivato, era diventato una vera e propria macchina da assist. Naturalmente si è trattata di una grande overperformance, ma è un dato che ad ogni modo stupisce.

Difficile si possa tornare a qualcosa di simile in breve tempo. In questo momento la Lazio si trova al 12esimo posto in classifica.

Risultato altamente sotto le aspettative, ma con il blocco mercato e gli infortuni di certo Sarri non sta vivendo una stagione semplice.

AC Milan vs. Pisa will open matchday eight of Serie A. The San Siro match will take place tomorrow evening at 8:45 PM.

Parma, something still isn’t right: Tardini the only certainty
