Venice-Inter, Di Francesco’s comment
How do you feel after today’s match?
“Disappointed, because today the team gave their all. I had to make some changes during the game: it wasn’t easy, as we had limited players and some out of position. This team works consistently in a certain way, changing the formation would have been a mistake. It’s a shame about the goal conceded and how we performed in the final 25 meters. In the second half, we pushed up, trading blow for blow. It’s a shame we didn’t take any points, but I can’t fault the players.”
Do you expect any signings in the transfer market?
“The club knows very well that we need to act as soon as possible. Injuries keep piling up, especially in defense. There will be signings in all departments, something is already in motion. Something significant needs to be done, the club knows it, and I am confident. The team must not lose the desire to compete in matches, and a bit of luck that eluded us in the first half of the season will come.”
A lot depends on the next two direct clashes?
“This month is crucial, today was a wildcard match. There was a difference between the two teams, even if it wasn’t evident on the field. We need some significant reinforcements.”
How do you see Napoli and Inter?
“Very similar. Inter has more solutions, but also more competitions, while Napoli can train all week to be in top shape for the next match.”

Was the result narrow?
“It’s a result that fits, but considering the potential of both teams, I believe that despite the last-minute difficulties, Venice played a great game. Now we need to change our pace not just to receive compliments but to secure points. Today, however, we showed that we are alive.”
Do you expect anything from the transfer market?
“The market is a factor, today we struggled at the back if I have to talk about a department. I am in full agreement with the club. I congratulated the team for staying in the game. The director knows that we need to bring in players to strengthen the team.”
Was the crowd the twelfth man?
“I thank the fans who were extraordinary, it’s a shame we didn’t achieve a draw. We must be smart not to be frantic. The match against Parma could be very important if approached intelligently. I have always liked the team for how they stayed in the game.”
Stankovic?
“We talked about it, he is continually improving. The difference is that you criticize them after one bad game. Young players need support. They need to be supported and tolerated through difficult times.”
It was said that Venice plays well but then loses. Has that changed?
“The most important thing for a player today is the psychological aspect. This team is showing solidarity, not just technical and tactical, but also mental.”

It’s difficult to compare Joao Felix to anyone and on the referees…

Milan’s new acquisition, Joao Felix, introduced himself to the Rossoneri fans in a press conference. The Portuguese player has already made two appearances with the Devil.
It’s time for presentations at Milan. Today, presenting to the press and fans is Joao Felix, who arrived on loan from Chelsea. The Portuguese forward, in recent years, has somewhat lost his way compared to what we saw during his time at Benfica, before Atletico Madrid spent a massive sum to bring him to Madrid.
Joao Felix has already made two appearances with Conceicao’s team: one in the Coppa Italia against Roma, where he scored, and in Serie A against Empoli.
Milan, Joao Felix’s Words
Ibrahimovic speaks
“He has already presented himself with a magical goal, but we welcome him today. He was the last acquisition of this transfer window. He is a great talent, has a lot of experience, but he is still young and can still grow. We were looking for a player between midfield and attack for closed matches, against defensive teams: he can make the difference. He is a player of magic, and you either have it or you don’t. Conceicao knows him very well. His quality speaks for itself. We are satisfied. Now we have to put him in a position to do his best.”
You have already scored at San Siro…
“We have had two wins. I had the opportunity to play at San Siro and score for Milan. I knew about the greatness of this club, Milan is immense. From the outside, you can see that it’s a very big club, and when you are inside, you understand that you are in one of the biggest clubs in Europe.”
Is there a player you look up to?
“My player has always been Kaká. I have never talked to him about Milan, but I have exchanged ideas with him in the past. He is an idol to me, but I cannot compare myself to him. I hope to make history like him.”
Is it sustainable to have four attackers on the field at the same time?
“Of course, yes. I don’t know if it’s normal or not, but defense is very important, but it doesn’t mean that with four attackers, you can’t defend. Gimenez, Pulisic, Leao, and I are attackers, but when it comes to defending, we are there to do our job too. We also help in defense and always seek balance, as you could see in the second half against Empoli.”
Had you already heard from Conceicao?
“I already knew the coach, I had played against him before and followed him. I told him what I expected: to play in my position. He never told me whether I would play a lot or a little, but to play in my position. That’s what convinced me to come to Milan.”
You are the highest-paid Portuguese player in history…
“For now, I am on loan until June. Let’s see how it goes. For the moment, I am enjoying everything: the club, the people, the facilities. I have been very well received. The most important thing is to be where I feel good, and I feel good here. Things can change in football, but if there is a chance to stay at Milan, I would like that.”
There aren’t many trequartisti like you in Serie A… How do you see yourself in this role?
“I will do whatever the coach asks me to do, in every moment and in every role: I will do my best and make myself available to the coach and the team.”
How did Leao welcome you? Did he say anything to convince you?
“I must say he was the first to call me to ask if it was true that I was coming. He asked if I was signing or not, as soon as I did, he called and was very happy. We have a good relationship, we already have a good understanding on the field. I like having him by my side.”
About Rui Costa:
“Of course, I know Rui Costa. When I played for Benfica, he worked there, now he is the president. I talked a lot with him when I was at Benfica, but in recent years, we haven’t talked much. I don’t remember when he played for Milan; what I know, I have seen on YouTube. But I know he is an idol here, like Kaká, he made history.”
Was Inter also interested in you?
“Yes, my agent told me about it. He said Inter was interested. But I had already started negotiating with Milan and had already decided to come to Milan. I said it would be impossible, I had already decided to come here.”
San Siro immediately fell in love with you…
“I immediately loved the atmosphere of San Siro. I experienced this environment at Benfica and Atletico Madrid, but I must say that the atmosphere here was different. I didn’t expect such a reception; you could feel the affection of the fans. Incredible atmosphere, I hope it continues like this.”
Why did you choose the number 79?
“The truth is that it is a number I am very attached to, my first professional number. It is a special number, it will always be present in my career. I have always liked it. 79, 14, 11, 7… Numbers don’t really matter, but this one is special.”
What goal do you set for yourself in these six months?
“My goal is to help the club, the team, and win titles. A player’s career is made of this: titles. The important thing is to win, and that is my goal. As long as I stay here, my goal is to win titles and nothing else.”

Napoli-Udinese, the party pooper is called Ekkelenkamp

Napoli-Udinese: making the Scudetto project of the blues a little more complicated is Udinese midfielder Jurgen Ekkelenkamp.
His name is unpronounceable but his talent is crystal clear: we are talking about Jurgen Ekkelenkamp, the one who prevented Napoli from extending their lead in the last game against Udinese, keeping the blues 4 points behind Inter, who must play at home today against Fiorentina.
After the defeat of the Nerazzurri in Florence, the league leaders had the opportunity to pull away, but Dutch midfielder ruined their plans. With a goal from outside the box, the 2000 class player scored the final 1-1 at the Maradona, scoring his first goal in Serie A against the blues.
A €5 million signing
Arriving last summer for around €5 million, Ekkelenkamp is becoming more and more central in Mister Runjaic’s lineup.
With 23 appearances this season between the league and Coppa Italia, he has already scored two goals and provided two assists in Serie A. Growing numbers, embellished by the gem that froze the Maradona at the end of the first half.
He is also a special observation in terms of Fantasy Football, especially thanks to his great performances, not only against Udinese, but also against Fiorentina and Monza away.
Another capital gain on the way?
“I often try it in training. Against Venezia I had come close, but this time it went well and I am very happy. Scoring the first goal in Serie A in such an important stadium is a special emotion,” declared the midfielder after the game.
Purchased from Antwerp, Ekkelenkamp is proving to be another successful bet of the bianconeri scouting. A rising talent that could soon turn into a new market capital gain.

Napoli-Udinese, the match of the 24th round took place at the Maradona stadium. Here’s what happened and the match stats.
Tonight, at the Maradona Stadium, the clash between Napoli and Udinese unfolded. A match that immediately saw great aggression on the field and precious chances, starting from the 3rd minute, when Thauvin troubled Meret with a dangerous ball from a corner kick.
At 37′, the deadlock was broken by the most surprising Scot in Serie A, McTominay, who had already tried to score at the 6th and 35th minutes on crosses from Di Lorenzo. Here, the assist was provided by Politano.
Just 3 minutes later, the home team’s lead was equalized thanks to a beautiful and sideways goal by Ekkelenkamp.
In the second half, chances for McTominay, Lukaku, and Anguissa. Until Conte decided to revolutionize the field by substituting Politano, Lukaku, and Anguissa with Ngonge, Simeone, and Raspadori. New energy to try to once again regain the lead.
On the Udinese side, they first tried with Payero replacing Lovric, then with Ehizibue and Iker Bravo substituting the tired Solet and Atta. In the end, the scorer of the Udinese goal, Ekkelenkamp, was also substituted with Zarraga.
3 minutes before the 90th minute, Napoli made an extreme attempt by sending the winter transfer window’s latest arrival, the substitute for Kvaratskhelia, namely Noah Okafor, onto the field in place of Neres.
Udinese’s Performance
Udinese confirms itself as a tough and stubborn team: a team that, on January 11th, managed to hold Atalanta to a frustrating 0-0 draw. For the Dea, it was the second consecutive draw in Serie A.
Here too, besides managing to contain the league leaders, they responded with an equalizer right after conceding the first goal.
And they were more precise in their finishes, leaving the home team with the lead in terms of possession and number of passes.
A questionable refereeing decision – the yellow card given to Lorenzo Lucca in the second half – and an open, immediately fought, and exciting match. A hard-fought and deserved 1-1 draw.
Conte and his team will rue the missed chances.
