Monza-Fiorentina 2-1: Maldini sends Palladino crashing

Fiorentina’s beautiful Palladino is no more: in the post-match of the twentieth round of Serie A, they suffer a heavy defeat away at Monza, the bottom team.

A goal in each half for Monza, scored by Bocchetti, is more than enough to overcome a Fiorentina lacking bite, strength, and cohesion. Beltran’s penalty is not sufficient to turn around a match that seemed to be going in the right direction for the team at the bottom of the table.

Palladino’s team struggles with the physical vigor of the Brianza players, too many out-of-form players in the Viola team, and the standings are no longer favorable.

Monza-Fiorentina: Viola player ratings

DE GEA 6 – Seems to have no fault on the goals, needs to make a couple of high exits for the rest of the match. A bad night nonetheless.

DODÒ 6 – He pushes forward but doesn’t find Colpani’s always attentive support. He struggles with the Brianza attacks on his side, but a penalty for Fiorentina comes from one of his actions.

COMUZZO 5 – On a decline, a few too many technical errors, imperfect positioning at times.

RANIERI 5.5 – Perhaps a bit slow to recover his position on Ciurria’s goal that opens the match, few other responsibilities.

GOSENS 5.5 – A quiet performance, tries to move up from his role as a full-back, but finds little space in attack.

Sub 22’st PARISI 6 – Feeds the push in the final moments.

ADLI 4.5– Slow, clumsy, never finds the right play. Outshone by Maldini on the 2-0.

RICHARDSON 5 – An hour of sterile passing, with a few lost balls.

Sub 19’st FOLORUNSHO 5.5 – A bitter debut, with little chance to make an impact.

COLPANI 5 – Starts well, seems more eager and dynamic: but it’s short-lived, fades quickly.

Sub 22’st IKONÈ 5 – Unable to make an impact. Had an important opportunity as well.

GUDMUNDSSON 5 – Had an important and perhaps easy chance early on, but misses the target. Tries to move between midfield and attack, but seems confused and unhappy.

Sub 1’st BELTRAN 6.5– Better than the teammate he replaced, some good passes but also several mistakes. Earns and scores the goal of hope, which fades away…

SOTTIL 6 – Clearly in good form, the best in the dull first half for Viola. Legs moving, not always following intentions.

Sub 30’st KOUAMÈ 5 – Perhaps doesn’t even touch the ball with any sense.

KEAN 4.5 – The worst game by far in a Viola shirt. It happens if it’s an isolated case… but form seems to be lacking.

Milan, verso Pisa: Nkunku c’è, Loftus-Cheek in dubbio

The Fiorentina has just released a statement regarding the situation at the Franchi stadium. Following the announcement from the Municipality of Florence, the club has issued a response.

New developments on the construction site at the Franchi stadium after the Municipality announced further delays and that the works will not be completed in time for the club’s centenary.

Fiorentina, Franchi Stadium: The Club’s Statement

ACF Fiorentina, in response to today’s statement from the Municipality of Florence regarding the Franchi Stadium, clarifies that the Municipality has provided information in recent days regarding the progress of the works and the delays that are already expected by the end of 2026.

The Club can only express discontent and surprise considering the cooperation always shown, such as leaving the stadium free from the end of May to mid-September this year.

Further possible activities for the second part of the works have also been outlined, which at the moment could still involve several months away from the Franchi. Scenarios that can only generate concern and disappointment. In light of the latest information provided, as already communicated to the Municipality, the conditions for any involvement of Fiorentina in the project will need to be re-evaluated.

There is still great regret for not having been able to complete the New Franchi with previous interlocutors, which in 2019, President Commisso wanted to realize at his own expense, only to realize that this was never allowed.

The Franchi Stadium, already a construction site since February 2024, will remain so with all the economic and sporting difficulties that follow, certainly throughout the 2026/27 season, the year of the centenary.
