The Roma returns to the field one week after the bitter defeat in Alkmaar to face Eintracht in the final matchday of the Europa League League Phase.
The six consecutive positive results in the league, including the return to victory away from home after nine months, have brought back a bit of serenity and certainly some dignity to Roma’s season domestically. However, the same cannot be said for their European journey so far, with 9 points in 7 games and a 21st place in the standings. On the other hand, the German team is in second place with 16 points, from 5 wins, 1 draw, and 1 loss.
Today marks the first official meeting between the two teams. Roma has a good record against German teams at home: in 18 previous encounters, they have achieved 11 wins, 2 draws, and 5 losses.
The usual large crowd is present to support Ranieri’s eleven: around 60,000 fans will fill the stadium.

6′ – Koné anticipates his opponent in an aerial duel from the resulting free-kick taken by Knauff, after a foul on Knauff.
10′ – Roma back on the attack: Angelino breaks through on the left, sends a cross in that is picked up and crossed back by Saelemaekers for Angelino, whose header narrowly misses the target.
12′ – Late challenge by Larsson on Koné near the halfway line, but no yellow card is shown this time.
13′ – Another dangerous moment for Roma as Dovbyk fails to convert a close-range opportunity from Angelino’s cross, set up by a brilliant pass from Paredes.
16′ – Saelemaekers tries a long-range shot this time, but it goes just wide of Trapp’s goal.
22′ – Eintracht threatens with a well-placed header by Larsson from Knauff’s cross, but Svilar makes a great save to deny the chance. Nothing comes from the ensuing corner.
26′ – Dybala steals the ball from Shkiri and advances towards the opponent’s area, but is fouled by Koch. Another free-kick opportunity, but no yellow card this time either.

44′ – ROMA TAKES THE LEAD!! A well-crafted move by Roma, initiated and finished by Pellegrini, who plays a perfect cross to Mancini on the right. The Italian center-back sends a deep cross that Angelino converts with his left foot at the far post, scoring his first goal in a Roma shirt.
45′ – Two minutes of added time indicated by the referee Obrenovic.
47′ – The first half ends with Roma deservedly in the lead. Notable incidents include disturbances and the throwing of smoke bombs and firecrackers between Roma fans in the Curva Nord and the adjacent away section.
SECOND HALF
46′ – The second half begins with the same twenty-two players who provided an entertaining first half. Eintracht has the first possession and immediately creates a chance with Theate’s through ball to Ekitiké, who dribbles past the onrushing Svilar but loses control of the ball.
48′– Roma responds quickly with a rapid counter led by Dybala, who finds Angelino on the left. Koch intercepts Angelino’s low cross before it reaches Dovbyk.
49′ – Roma continues to push forward with Koné’s run and pass to Dovbyk, who fails to control the ball in the heart of the penalty area.
52′ – Roma wins their fourth corner, with Paredes playing it short to Saelemaekers, whose cross is cleared by the opposition defense. This leads to a potential dangerous counterattack by Eintracht, but Dybala tracks back to prevent it.
55′ – Another late and rough challenge, this time by Theate on Saelemaekers near the center circle, with no disciplinary action taken.
61′ – Double substitution for Roma: Saelemaekers and Paredes off, Soulé and Cristante on.
64′ – Triple substitution for Eintracht: Larsson, Knauff, and Bahoya off, Dahoud, Uzun, and Nkounkou on.
67′ – Third substitution for the home team: Dovbyk replaced by Shomurodov.
69′ – ROMA DOUBLES THEIR LEAD!! A brilliant solo run by Soulé from his own half, evading three opponents, with a lucky bounce, he plays a perfect vertical pass to Shomurodov, who wins the duel with Tuta and beats Trapp with a soft right-footed touch just when it seemed like he had lost the opportunity. Third goal of the season for the Uzbek.
72′ – Fourth substitution for Eintracht: Ekitiké off, Matanovic on.
74′ – Soule’s mistake in defense allows Uzun to take a shot from outside the box, but it goes high over the crossbar.
78′ – Roma launches a counterattack, with Angelino finding Dybala centrally, who hesitates and shoots with his left foot, only to be blocked by Koch from twenty yards out.

83′ – Eintracht also completes their substitutions: Chaibi off, Is on.

94′ – Referee Obrenovic blows the final whistle, confirming Roma’s third victory in the League Phase of this Europa League. Roma finishes with 12 points.
Final Comment
Roma deservedly defeats Eintracht with a goal in each half, securing their place in the Europa League playoffs. The goals from Angelino just before halftime and Shomurodov in the second half prove crucial for Roma.
Ranieri’s team finishes in 15th place and will face either Porto or Ferencvaros in the next round.

Eintracht Frankfurt-Liverpool, probable line-ups

Eintracht Frankfurt and Liverpool will face off tomorrow night at the Deutsche Bank Park for the 3rd matchday of the Champions League League Phase.
The 3rd matchday of the Champions League sees Eintracht Frankfurt and Liverpool facing each other. A match that promises excitement, especially considering the great offensive capabilities of the home team. Six goals scored and conceded by the team coached by Dino Toppmoller in the first two European games of the season, resulting in two 5-1 results: the home win against Galatasaray, and the defeat suffered against Atletico Madrid at the Metropolitano.
On the other side, there are the Reds, who are going through a very negative period. Counting all competitions, Arne Slot’s team is coming off four consecutive defeats, including the one suffered in the Champions League against Galatasaray. A streak for Liverpool that hadn’t happened in 11 years. The lack of contribution from new signings Wirtz and Isak is under scrutiny.
Eintracht Frankfurt
The home team is coming off an away draw against Freiburg in the Bundesliga. Despite facing one of the European football giants, albeit in difficulty, Toppmoller doesn’t seem to want to give up on fielding an ultra-offensive lineup. Frankfurt relies on its talented midfield, composed of Uzun, Doan, and Bahoya. The only absentee is midfielder Oscar Hojlund, brother of Napoli’s forward.
Liverpool
A few more changes are expected in Liverpool’s lineup. Arne Slot is looking for the right solution to get out of the crisis. Against Eintracht, the Reds will have to do without goalkeeper Alisson and Ryan Gravenberch due to a hip problem. Jones is the favorite to replace the Dutchman. Some changes are also expected in defense, with Robertson and Joe Gomez ready to take the place of Kerkez and Konaté. In attack, Slot is ready to relaunch the former player of the match, Hugo Ekitike. The Frenchman is favored over Isak to lead the Reds’ attack.
Probable Lineups
Eintracht Frankfurt (4-2-3-1): Santos; Kristensen, Koch, Theate, Brown; Skhiri, Chaibi; Doan, Uzun, Bahoya; Burkardt. Coach: Toppmoller.
Liverpool (4-2-3-1): Mamardashvili; Bradley, Gomez, Van Dijk, Robertson; Jones, Mac Allister; Salah, Szoboszlai, Gakpo; Ekitike. Coach: Slot.
Where to Watch
The Champions League match between Eintracht Frankfurt and Liverpool will be broadcast exclusively on Sky Sport and streamed live on NOW starting at 9:00 PM on Wednesday, October 22, 2025.

The Champions League continues with the third day, which will also feature the match between Atalanta and Slavia Prague.
The Nerazzurri team has so far achieved one win and one loss, currently having three points in the standings.
On the other hand, the Czech team has only managed to accumulate one point, placing them thirty-first.
After the heavy defeat at the Parc des Princes, La Dea immediately bounced back, securing a comeback victory against Bruges.
A breath of fresh air for the Orobics, who remain unbeaten in the league and aim for a second consecutive victory in Europe.
Juric is expected to field Lookman up front, with Sulemana likely to support him. Scalvini, on the other hand, will not be available for the match, once again sidelined.
However, keep an eye on Krstovic, who could be the last-minute surprise.
There are few doubts in midfield, where the young Bernasconi is set to start alongside Ederson, De Roon, and Bellanova.
Slavia Prague’s Lineup
It will be the second consecutive Italian away trip for Slavia Prague under Trpisovsky, seeking redemption at Atalanta’s home.
Following the 3-0 defeat at San Siro against Inter, the Czech team is positioned at the bottom of the table with just one point earned against Bodo Glimt.
The match appears to be very challenging, but the Czech team is determined to secure their first victory in this European campaign.
Possible Lineups
Atalanta (3-4-1-2): Carnesecchi; Djimsiti, Hien, Ahanor; Bellanova, de Roon, Ederson, Bernasconi; De Ketelaere; Lookman, Sulemana. Coach: Juric
