The 24th round of Serie B sees Modena-Mantova facing each other. The Emilians come from a draw with Cremonese, while the Virgilians from a home draw against Sampdoria.

Modena Team
The Modena team comes from an away draw with Cremonese at 2-2, maintaining a mid-table position, with performances that have been fluctuating with 12 wins, 12 draws, and six losses. They have had four draws in the last five games, while they have been without a win for six matches.
Coach Mandelli will be without Pegreffi, with his return date yet to be defined. The canaries’ coach will line up with a 3-4-2-1 formation, with a defense composed of Caldara, Zaro, and Cotali, midfield consisting of Di Pardo, Gerli, Santoro, and Dellavalle, and Defrel as the lone striker supported by Caso and Palumbo.
Mantova Team
Mantova, coming from a 1-1 draw at Martelli against Sampdoria, has just one point more than their upcoming opponents. The Virgilians have a very similar performance to that of the Emilians, particularly struggling away from home with only one win. Winning in Emilia would help them move away from the relegation zone.
The Virgilians’ coach Possanzini will have the entire squad available and will set up a 4-3-3 formation, with the defense made up of Maggioni, Cella, Redolfi, and Ruocco, midfield consisting of Burrai, Giordano, and Trimboli, and a forward trident formed by Mancuso, Mensah, and Bragantini.
Probable Lineups for Modena-Mantova
Modena (3-4-2-1): Gagno, Caldara, Zaro, Cotali, Di Pardo, Gerli, Santoro, Dellavalle, Caso, Palumbo, Defrel. Coach: Mandelli
Mantova (4-3-3): Festa, Maggioni, Cella, Redolfi, Ruocco, Burrai, Giordano, Trimboli, Mancuso, Mensah, Bragantini. Coach: Possanzini

Andrea Sottil revives Modena: first place, best attack and best defense in Serie B. The team dreams big after the draw with Palermo.
The most anticipated match of the eighth round of Serie B was undoubtedly between Palermo and Modena, the top two teams in the league. In the end, it did not disappoint: many chances on both sides, great intensity, and a 1-1 final score that definitely favors the canaries. With this result, in fact, Sottil’s team remains in first place, with a two-point lead over the rosanero.
However, Modena may have deserved something more, considering their performance. No matter, though, because Sottil himself spoke of an “extraordinary performance” from his players after the game, emphasizing how a result like this can only boost confidence for the upcoming matches.
After all, it’s not easy for everyone to play with such personality at the home of the team considered by many as the main favorite for promotion.
Modena, promotion target
The credit for this season’s start goes largely to Andrea Sottil, chosen in the summer to lead a completely revamped team. After a very eventful transfer window, with the sale of Palumbo to the rosanero, the third most lucrative in the history of the yellow and blue, and the farewells of veterans like Gagno, Zaro, and Duca, the management focused on experienced players like Zampano, Chichizola, Adorni, and Di Mariano, but also on promising young talents like Zanimacchia, Sersanti, and Pyyhtiä.
Sottil, coming off challenging experiences at Udinese and Sampdoria, with a brief stint at Salernitana, managed to unify the group and give a clear identity to the team. Today, Modena has the best attack and defense in the league, and above all, a newfound awareness.
It’s only the eighth round, but the feeling is clear: with Sottil, Serie A is no longer a dream but a concrete goal.
