The tournament once known as the Champions League, now Champions League, is experiencing its central phase of the season, with the new format creating more excitement and delivering 470 goals in the group stage: 1 goal every 28 minutes and an average of 3.27 goals per match.
Barcelona dominates with the best attack, but Liverpool is the favorite
Barca leads the Champions League goal chart with 28 goals in the first eight games, with 17 scored by Raphinha and Lewandowski. In the Champions League odds, Barcelona and Arsenal are priced at 7 for the win, while Liverpool, who finished top of the group stage, has become the top favorite to win the tournament: Liverpool to win the Champions League at odds of 5.
City and Real: from favorites to underdogs
It is probably just bad luck for Manchester City and Real Madrid, as Haaland leads the shots on target chart with 17 and Mbappé has attempted 16.
Despite individual efforts, City has not proven to be a strong team and finished the group stage in 22nd place, while Real struggled but failed to secure direct qualification to the knockout stages by just 1 point. The odds for Real Madrid to win have increased from 4 to 7.5, while the odds for Manchester City to win the Champions League have risen from 3.5 to 9: both former favorites have become underdogs.
Lewandowski over 100 goals in Champions League: here are the top goal scorers of the tournament
Lewandowski has set the all-time best goal-scoring average in the Champions League this year, surpassing 103 goals in the all-time ranking and raising his goal-scoring average to 0.80: higher than that of CR7 and Messi.
Another fearsome striker is Guirassy from Dortmund, who has managed to score 9 goals out of 14 shots on target: absolute talent. In addition to the aforementioned Raphinha, there is also Vinicius Junior who has scored 7 goals and is increasingly becoming a key player in the reigning champions’ victories.
The statistics of Inter Milan and the odds of Italian teams in the Champions League
If Inter Milan is the favorite Italian team in the football odds today for the Champions League, priced at 13 for the win after starting at 26, it is thanks to the extraordinary results achieved and a defense that has kept 7 clean sheets out of 8. Inter Milan finished in the top 4 of the group stage, tied on points with Barcelona and Arsenal, so Inzaghi’s team could easily replicate the miracle of 2023, hoping to win it this time.
Among the top Italian clubs aiming high is Atalanta, which has played extraordinary football and finished in ninth place just narrowly missing out on the top 8 and direct qualification to the knockout stages: Atalanta to win the Champions League is priced at 29.
For AC Milan and Juventus, the situation is more complicated, with AC Milan needing to address their statistical inconsistency issues, while Juventus must return to playing a style of football that makes them competitive at the international level.

The future of Euro2032 at risk for Milan: as stated by Ezio Simonelli, the lack of a suitable stadium could compromise the city’s candidacy.
Milan and the challenge of the stadium for Euro2032: The need for timely intervention
Milan is facing a crucial challenge: without a new stadium, the city risks losing the opportunity to host Euro2032. According to the President of Serie A, Ezio Simonelli, it is impossible to renovate the old San Siro stadium to meet the standards required for the prestigious football event. During an interview with Repubblica, Simonelli expressed concern about the delays in appointing a stadium commission, promised by Minister Abodi as early as December.
The situation requires timely intervention by the competent authorities. Simonelli emphasized the urgency of action, as the lack of a concrete plan could jeopardize not only Milan’s candidacy but also Italy’s image in the international football landscape. With time running out, it is essential for institutions to move quickly to find an appropriate solution.

Milan-Torino will be played at the Giuseppe Meazza Stadium in Milan
Ezio Simonelli’s words
“It is painful to say, but now San Siro is an inadequate stadium. It is not equipped to host Euro 2032 matches. It cannot be renovated, and it was not possible even when the owner of one of the two clubs was leading the government. Milan without Euro? An incalculable embarrassment.”
The President of Serie A then continued: “It will be a loss for the city if this whole process is thrown overboard due to ideological issues, because if they don’t have San Siro, the two clubs will end up building new stadiums outside the city of Milan. The new stadium will still be called San Siro, even though I think the naming rights will be taken over by a very well-known Italian brand. The only way to maintain the historical significance of that stadium is to build the new one in the same area.”

Steaua Bucharest-Bologna 1-2, Rossoblù raiders in Romania – Soccer style

In the 3rd matchday of the Europa League group stage, Steaua Bucharest-Bologna ends 1-2, with goals from Odgaard and Dallinga deciding the outcome and securing the first victory for Bologna in Europe under the management of Italiano.
The match saw an impressive performance from the Bologna team, with Odgaard and Dallinga’s goals sealing the win. The victory, dedicated to coach Vincenzo Italiano, marks a significant step towards qualification for Bologna in the Europa League.
Bologna started strong, taking the lead in the 9th minute through Odgaard after an assist from Dallinga. Just 3 minutes later, Dallinga capitalized on a defensive error from Steaua to double the lead. Although Orsolini’s goal was disallowed for offside in the 33rd minute, Bologna remained in control, with Skorupski denying Steaua’s scoring chances.
The second half saw Bologna maintaining pressure, with Orsolini and Lykogiannis posing threats. Steaua managed to score through Birligea, narrowing the lead to 2-1. Despite the goal, Bologna stayed composed and had opportunities to extend their lead, with Dallinga coming close to scoring the third goal.
The match ended with Orsolini and Odgaard hitting the woodwork, but Bologna held on for the win. Dallinga was a standout player, showcasing an exceptional performance. Bologna’s overall performance resembled the successful run of the previous season, highlighting their strength as a team in Europe.

Fiorentina in Europe is a different story. 0-3 against Rapid Vienna and first place in the standings. Stefano Pioli had the opportunity to speak to the microphones.
The team of the former Milan coach showed a great display of strength tonight. Despite the great difficulties in the league, in the Conference the Fiorentina seems to be heading in the right direction.
Too early to talk about a comeback? The coach of Fiorentina had the chance to discuss this. Here are the words of Pioli, as reported by tuttomercatoweb.

Fiorentina, statements by Stefano Pioli
Does this victory confirm the progress seen in previous matches?
“I believe that in these moments you don’t get out by trying to do many things better, but by focusing on a specific situation. Today we focused on being a determined team, a fierce team in terms of aggression, duels, and pressure. We had good answers and maybe next game we will take another step forward in another situation. The answers were the right ones, we interpreted the game well, and we know that the league is a different situation. Now we have to throw ourselves back in with great attention and determination. Next week we will be busy three times against important opponents.”
Fagioli was among the best players on the field for Fiorentina. Can the responses of players who have had less playing time change the hierarchy?
“It depends on them. There is always someone in the coach’s mind who starts a little lower. If those who are below surpass them, they play. The coach needs results and the team needs to win games. There have been two good answers, it’s true. At this moment, until today, in the Conference we have faced good opponents, but of a lower level, in my opinion, compared to our league. But the answers are there and the coach definitely takes them into account.”
Dzeko has stated that he wants to play more. Why don’t you field three attackers?
“The problem is not the players’ willingness. We are trying to find balances and at the moment the team cannot afford more than two offensive players. We have four or five offensive players. It depends on our moment, our balance, our playing structure. Playing with three offensive players at this moment is a bit more complicated. There may be times when we will have more situations, more technical and tactical contents, which will allow us to field an additional attacker, an additional offensive player. Not at this moment. I understand the desire of all my players to play more games, but this is the path I am following. Džeko knows where my office is, if he wants to talk to me. He is an intelligent guy, a strong player, I know that. I have to try to make the best choices for the team. The results are still not what we hope for, but in my opinion, this is the way. He must continue like this and be ready when called upon, as the other players who played for the first time in this game did well. Hierarchies can change because it will depend a lot on the performances of individuals, the team, and above all the results.”
Fiorentina needs to regain positive energy. How do you work on the mental aspect?
“I understand very well, it is clear that it is my task. I arrived here, called by the club, also with my ambition to raise the level. I have created many expectations, many hopes and the start so difficult probably complicated our situation even from an emotional point of view, from mental thickness. Here I have to be good at working on it. I don’t agree so much on last Sunday’s game. Milan, honestly, also because it was a team with several absences, 10 minutes after we took the lead, never gave us the impression of putting us in difficulty. We miserably failed in a situation when we were down to 10, because our captain was out injured, and there was no spark where everyone had to do a little more. If results were to come, we would be more carefree, brighter, even more beautiful in terms of play. When there are certain situations, you come out of them by putting something extra into the game, especially in delicate, difficult moments. Instead, we did all the basics and allowed Milan to regain confidence, when the game was quite under control. My work focuses a lot on the technical-tactical aspect, but absolutely I have always thought that the most important work of a coach is the psychological aspect. All coaches in Serie A or at certain levels anyway have ideas, know how to work, but how much you can get into a player, how much you can convince him that what you do is right, that willingness you can obtain makes the difference.”
