Joaquin Correa remains available to Inter, but he has already started packing: his contract will expire in June.

When Inter acquired Joaquin Correa from Lazio in the summer of 2021, many fans still had his extraordinary plays in the white and sky blue shirt fresh in their minds. Technique, speed, the ability to beat a man and score important goals: Tucu seemed the perfect alternative to Lautaro Martinez.

The illusion was strengthened with his debut, when with a splendid brace as a substitute against Verona he made the Nerazzurri dream. Some couldn’t wait to see him back on the field, some had already fallen in love with his talent, and some thought Inter had finally found the right piece to enrich the attack. Sometimes, however, one must face reality.

Inter, Correa between competition and inconsistency

Since his arrival in Milan, Correa has never truly made his mark. Of course, the competition was not easy: over the years he had to compete with forwards of the caliber of Lukaku, Dzeko, and Marcus Thuram. However, what weighed on his performance was mainly the inconsistency, a limitation that has accompanied him throughout his career. He often managed to show flashes of class and plays of a superstar, but never maintained a consistent level of performance.

An endless ordeal

What made his journey at Inter even more difficult was the long list of injuries. From the ankle to the calf, from the thigh to the tendon, from the knee to the hip: Correa has had issues in practically every part of his body.

In total, he missed over 40 games due to physical problems, practically more than an entire season. He gave the illusion several times of being able to return to the levels seen at Lazio, but every time he seemed close to a revival, a new injury stopped him.

Inter, Correa’s last flourish and goodbye at the end of the year

After the unimpressive loan spell at Marseille, Correa returned to the squad as the fifth striker, behind Arnautovic and Taremi. However, at the end of November, in the match against Verona, he showed encouraging signs with a goal and two assists, giving Inzaghi hope of being able to recover him as an extra weapon.

But from that moment on, only a few minutes against Parma before yet another injury, this time to the calf.

With his contract expiring in June, his farewell to Inter is practically certain. An unlucky marriage, in which the talent of the Argentine never had the chance to truly blossom. The bags are already packed, but hope remains alive that the future may still give us glimpses of his untapped talent.

Cremonese-Udinese ends 1-1, last match of the seventh day. Terracciano’s goal in the first half was answered by Zaniolo’s first goal in the league.

Closing the seventh day of Serie A is Cremonese–Udinese, Monday’s postponement. A match between two teams that started well in the league but have not found a win for several games.

Both coaches focus on quality: Nicola lines up Vandeputte and the attacking duo Bonazzoli-Vardy, with the Englishman making his debut as a starter, while Runjaić responds with Atta and Ekkelenkamp in midfield, Karlstrom in charge and Zaniolo as a forward alongside Bayo.

Cremonese-Udinese, first half in red-gray tones

The start is immediately favorable to the home team, who unlock the result in the 4th minute with Terracciano’s header from Vandeputte’s free-kick. The goal charges Cremonese, who dominate the first half thanks to the intensity of Bondo and the creativity of Vandeputte in midfield.

The red-grays come close to doubling their lead several times, first with Zerbin and then with Vandeputte and Bonazzoli, who hit the crossbar in the 31st minute. Udinese, on the other hand, struggles to react and ends the first half in difficulty, saved only by the opponents’ inaccuracies.

Zaniolo responds and Vardy almost scores the winning goal

In the second half, the game changes. Runjaić’s team comes back onto the field with a completely different attitude and immediately finds the equalizer in the 51st minute: Bayo serves Zanoli on the right, perfect cross and winning header by Zaniolo, scoring his first goal in Udinese colors.
