The twenty-first edition of “Macché te lo guardi?” (“Why don’t you watch it?”), the weekly column by Calciostyle dedicated to the 2024/2025 Serie A women’s championship.
The women’s football movement in Italy in recent years is gaining more and more space, attracting the interest of millions of fans who live sports in our beloved Boot. Despite there still being a vast majority of people who “snub” this category, in recent seasons there have been several events and facts that have elevated women’s football to a very high level.
We cannot fail to start from the transition to professionalism (July 1, 2022) reaching milestones that until a few years ago were unthinkable, such as reaching the quota of 40 thousand spectators for a single match.
Compared to other European countries (especially Spain and England), the difference in terms of audience and interest surrounding women’s football is, to quote a famous Roman expression, “still very different,” or very wide.
Also, taking advantage of the irreverence of the column title “Macché, te lo guardi?” (“Why don’t you watch it?”), we want to shed further light on a reality that is increasingly taking hold in our beloved country: women’s football. Because in the end, us Italians are only interested in watching and being able to comment on the football being played, regardless of who is playing.
Women’s Serie A, the third round of Scudetto and Relegation Poule
The third round of the Poule Scudetto and Poule Salvezza of the Women’s Serie A. In the relegation race, Sampdoria and Napoli do not go beyond a dull 0-0 that does not change the standings, leaving these two teams as the only ones really fighting to stay in the top flight. In the other match, Como beats Lazio 2-0, grabbing the top spot in the Poule Salvezza at the expense of the Biancocelesti.
In the Poule Scudetto, Fiorentina surprisingly beats Juventus with a double magic by Boquete. Despite the heavy defeat, Juventus officially qualifies, with 7 rounds in advance, for the next edition of the Women’s Champions League. Closing this round of the championship is the explosive Milan derby with Inter hurting themselves twice before being equalized by Ijeh 10 minutes from the end.
Relegation Poule
Boredom reigns: the relegation challenge goes beyond a draw
Sampdoria – Napoli 0 – 0
These are the two teams that are really fighting to stay in the Women’s Serie A. Sampdoria and Napoli, since the start of the season, are the two bottom teams in the standings and will have to fight tooth and nail to secure a pass to avoid dropping to the second division. They will have to because in the match between the two teams, played on Saturday the 15th, emotions are close to zero.
At La Sciorba, boredom reigns, with the two teams never managing to threaten the opposing defenses. A goalless draw that benefits Napoli more, who remain 2 points ahead of Sampdoria with five games to go. Juventus falls at home to a lively Fiorentina and a spectacular Vero Boquete, author of a fantastic brace. Fiorentina opens the scoring in the 7th minute of the match: Janogy moves down the right flank in the box and closes the triangle with the Spanish veteran who shifts the ball to her left foot from inside the small area, delivering a powerful shot under the crossbar, beating an blameless Peyraud-Magnin.
The Old Lady is not at her best and struggles to create and build up, ending the first half behind. In the second half, the Bianconere seem to return with a different attitude and after just a few minutes come close to equalizing with Cantore. The ball slips in the penalty area with the number 9 making a direct shot. Fiskerstrand performs a miracle by closing the goal, maintaining Fiorentina’s lead.
With fifteen minutes to go, Boquete repeats with another magical strike. A very deflected free-kick by the veteran midfielder draws an impressive curve to the far post, beating the Juventus goalkeeper.
An important victory for Fiorentina, keeping Milan at bay. Second defeat in the league for Juventus, who nonetheless remain firmly at the top and very confident of winning the league.
Explosive derby: Unlucky Inter with a double own goal

The third round of the Poule Scudetto ends with the Milan derby. Slightly different standings situations for the two teams: Inter competes for second place with Roma, while Milan, at the bottom of the poule, tries to catch up with Fiorentina.
The Nerazzurre start strong and after a couple of chances, score from a corner kick with Milinkovic. A corner from the left by Serturini, the Rossoneri defense fails to intervene, leaving the central defender free to strike at the center of the box.
Inter continues to dominate the game until the 30th minute when Bakker’s team, after half an hour of defending, starts to create some trouble for the Nerazzurri defense and at the 38th minute strikes back. Dompig plays a pivotal role with a series of feints that deceive Milikovic, creating the right space to cross for Ijeh. The striker is anticipated by Merlo, who inadvertently scores an own goal, bringing the match level.
At the end of the first half, Piovani’s team regains the lead with the flying play of Cambiaghi. A similar action to the one just a few seconds earlier with Serturini serving the 96 class from a corner to head it in, with Giuliani pulling off a save, sending it for a corner again.
This time, the Inter forward arrives in a flying stretch to head home Serturini’s cross, beating the passive Rossoneri defense.
