RedBird’s Senior Advisor, Zlatan Ibrahimovic, spoke at a press conference following Milan’s victory over Hellas Verona.

Sergio Conceicao, in agreement with the club, skipped the press conference after Milan-Hellas Verona. His absence was due to deep sadness over the death of Pinto da Costa, former President of Porto (from 1982 to 2024), who had brought Conceicao to the Dragons first as a player and then as a coach. The two shared over ten years together, first as a player (1991-1993 in the youth teams and 1996-1998 in the first team, plus 6 isolated months in the 2003-2004 season) and then as a coach, from 2017 to 2024.

Milan, Ibra’s Words

Zlatan Ibrahimovic, Senior Advisor for RedBird, spoke in place of Conceicao. Here are his words.

Conceicao
“The coach is very emotional about the death of the former Porto president. He was like a father to him, so I came here to speak“.

Gimenez
“I expected this impact. The balls come into the box with this team, you have to be ready to score. For a foreigner, it’s not easy to come and play in Italy, we also have to be good at helping him“.

Match
“Tonight’s victory is important. We dominated, they came here to defend. If you score early, the game opens up and everything changes“.

Joao Felix
“We try to take advantage of all the players we have, then the coach makes the choices. Conceicao is playing him a lot. He always wants the ball, creates chances, and could have scored today too. If he’s fit, he should play, but in the end, the coach decides“.

“He will always be the reference point of this team. He came on and made an assist. Today he came on and made the difference. That’s what we ask of him, to come on and win games. We are Milan, there can’t be just one player making the difference“.

The Fiorentina has just released a note regarding the situation at the Franchi stadium. After the announcement from the Municipality of Florence, the club has responded.

New developments on the construction site of the Franchi stadium after the Municipality announced that further delays are expected and the works will not be completed in time for the club’s centenary.

Fiorentina, Franchi stadium: the club’s note

ACF Fiorentina, in response to today’s note from the Municipality of Florence regarding the Franchi Stadium, clarifies that the Municipality provided information in recent days regarding the progress of the works and the delays expected by the end of 2026.

The Club can only express dissatisfaction and surprise given the willingness it has always shown, such as leaving the stadium free from the end of May to mid-September of this year.

Further and possible activities for the second part of the works have also been outlined, which could still involve several months away from the Franchi. Scenarios that can only generate concern and disappointment. In light of the latest information provided, as already communicated to the Municipality, the conditions for any involvement of Fiorentina in the project will have to be re-evaluated.

There is still immense regret for not having been able to complete the New Franchi with the previous interlocutors, which President Commisso wanted to finance in 2019 but then had to realize that it was never allowed.

The Franchi Stadium, already a construction site since February 2024, will remain so with all the economic and sporting difficulties that arise, certainly throughout the 2026/27 season, the year of the centenary.
