Kouame, Empoli, and the Coppa Italia – a footballing triangle

Christian Kouame, born in 1997, made a great move with Empoli and managed to secure a ticket to continue playing in the Coppa Italia.

At times, these bizarre situations happen only that, just by telling them, a sense of tearing remains: let’s follow, for example, the season of Ivorian player Christian Kouame. The boy changed colors when – following the injury of Pellegri – he was called to replace him at Fiorentina.

It was precisely Fiorentina that had been eliminated from the Coppa Italia by Empoli and that has now beaten and eliminated Juventus. Kouame was a Viola player when the misfortune of the Viola’s elimination materialized and now – instead – he continues to play in it even if with different colors.

Christian Kouame was one of the eleven players who allowed the realization of what seems – in all respects – a real conquest for Empoli.

What makes this strange affair even more absurd for Kouame is also the promptness that the player has shown in decisive moments: in fact, he scored with the Fiorentina shirt against Empoli and then scored the penalty with Empoli against Juventus.

In fact, Kouame was chosen (in both matches) as the designated penalty taker and he did not flinch at all.

Empoli’s coach, Roberto D’Aversa, is unstoppable at the end of the match: “These guys came here to play a great game. They have written the history of this club. Obviously, from tomorrow we have to think about the match at Marassi against Genoa; this team has shown that they can play football and can achieve safety.”

A coach who believes indeed: “Now we have to work and get out of the situation we found ourselves in the league.”

After the draw in regular time, it was the turn of the penalty takers (from the spot) and the feat was consummated.

Now the next challenge in the Coppa Italia will be to win against Bologna and then face the winner between Inter and Milan. After all, dreaming costs nothing!
