Roma’s Farewell to the Europa League Could Be Costly

Today’s wake-up call was bitter for Roma, whose dream of advancing in the Europa League faded yesterday, thanks to Hummels’ red card. The German player is under scrutiny.
The Europa League match that took place last night in Bilbao, at the home of the Basque team Athletic Bilbao, ended for Roma after just eleven minutes.
Due to the actions of German center-back Mats Hummels, who lost the ball in midfield and then committed a foul on Sannadi.
For the referee, Frenchman Turpin, the action warranted a straight red card. Roma protested, including goalkeeper Mile Svilar who was shown a yellow card shortly after.
The reason for Roma players’ disappointment is clear: Hummels arrived early to the ball and did not prevent a goal-scoring opportunity, as Mancini was also ready between Svilar and Sannadi.
A debate ensues, among journalists and fans who, using mental calculations, measure the distance between Sannadi and the goal to determine if the foul deserved the red card or not.
Regardless of the debate, one thing is clear to everyone: Hummels’ difficult situation.
Hummels, never truly decisive since his arrival
It cannot be said that Hummels had great reference points before the arrival of Claudio Ranieri as coach. Strongly wanted by De Rossi, who was soon sacked, he was almost ignored by Juric.
Although Ranieri has used him more on the field, it cannot be said that he has been frequently fielded in decisive matches, apart from last night’s game: since his arrival on November 14th, the coach has left him on the bench in 5 league matches, including the one against Napoli.
There has been much talk about his “vacations” and the player’s supposed irony on Instagram, seemingly unhappy with his lack of use.
His debut in the Giallorossi colors was as negative as it was unfortunate: in his debut under Juric on October 27th, he scored a notorious own goal during a match against Fiorentina that ended in a resounding 1-5 debacle.
His ending at Trigoria may come in the summer and have the taste of a wrong choice, a bet on a former German Champion who failed to meet expectations.

Inter must prepare for the Champions League match. After the disappointment of the now fading Triplete and a clash with the unleashed Barcelona looming
It will be a fundamental match both because it is the first leg of the Champions League semifinals, with only 4 teams left in the race to win the most prestigious title in Europe, and also because, for Inter, it would mean nullifying too many expectations (the Triplete dream is now excluded!)
But football, as we know, is also fought over television rights, especially when it comes to securing such prestigious matches. April 30 is approaching and it is now clear that the rights have been split between two giants: on one side we have Amazon (which held the exclusivity) and on the other side, the American major Warner Bros Discovery has joined.
So how will Barcelona – Inter unfold?
How did this negotiation end? Warner Bros Discovery (led by David Zaslav) would have snatched a last-minute agreement from Amazon to include the live broadcast of the match on the Nove channel.
Certainly, the giant Amazon asked, however, that it be clear who should have had – in reality – the exclusive right to the match and demanded and obtained to display (throughout the duration of the match) the Prime Video logo prominently on the screen. Despite the large financial commitment, Amazon had to yield to the so-called Delibera Lista Eventi (technically Agcom 131/12/CONS, issued under Article 33 of the Consolidated Text of Audiovisual Media Services) which clearly establishes that some events, both Italian and non-Italian, (involving an Italian team) must be viewable by at least 80% of the national population and therefore must be broadcast live.
Who will be the names commenting on the endeavor?
And what about the live commentary? That will be entirely determined by Prime Video.
It is certain that the giant Amazon had to swallow a bitter pill when it lost the absolute exclusivity; in fact, there is a regulation that establishes that the match had to be presented live because an Italian team was involved (even if it is a European competition).
How will the live broadcast unfold? There will be a pre-match show (all signed by Prime Video) that will be broadcast live on Nove. The appointment will start at 7:30 pm when the cameras will turn on from the Lluis Company Olympic Stadium in Barcelona (better known as Montjuic).
To show everything that will happen on the sidelines, we will find Giulia Mizzoni who will co-host alongside Clarence Seedorf, Julio Cesar, Ferdinando Llorente, and Maicon. In short, a series of names from the past (coming from clubs like Inter, Milan, Juventus, Seville, Napoli, etc.) who will be able to comment and prepare the audience with direct experiences and technical projections.
As for the live match and all the post-match, these will also be broadcast live, and the commentary will be entrusted to the ever-present and engaging Sandro Piccinini accompanied by Massimo Ambrosini.
Instead, in the VAR booth, there will be Gianpaolo Calvarese, while on the sidelines, we will see Alessia Tarquinio, Alessandro Alciato, and Fernando Siani.
An evening of great sport is shaping up, designed to make this football experience as engaging as possible.
