Twentieth appointment with “Macché te lo guardi?”, the weekly column of Calciostyle dedicated to the Serie A Women’s Championship 2024/2025.
The women’s football movement in Italy in recent years is gaining more and more space, attracting the interest of millions of fans who live the sport in our beloved Boot. Despite there still being a vast majority of people who “snub” this category, in recent seasons there have been several events and facts that have elevated women’s football to a very high level.
We cannot fail to start with the transition to professionalism (1st July 2022) reaching milestones that until a few years ago were unthinkable, such as reaching the quota of 40 thousand spectators for a single match.
Compared to other European countries (Spain and England above all), the difference in terms of audience and interest surrounding women’s football is, to quote a well-known Roman expression, “still a dear friend,” meaning very wide.
Also leveraging the irreverence of the title of the column “Macché, te lo guardi?”, we want to shed further light on a reality that is increasingly taking hold in our beloved country: women’s football. Because in the end, as Italians, we are only interested in watching and being able to comment on the football played, regardless of who plays it.
Women’s Serie A, the second round of Scudetto and Relegation Pool
Second day of Scudetto and Relegation Pool for the Women’s Serie A. As for the relegation race, which opens and closes the 20th round of the championship, there are few surprises with Lazio clinching the sixth victory in seven matches by flattening Napoli, still in full relegation zone. The protagonist of the match was the Biancoceleste striker Piemonte, who scored 7 goals in the last 3 matches. In the Monday evening post-match, Como returns to victory after 4 consecutive defeats, inflicting a clear 3-0 defeat on Sassuolo.
In the Scudetto Pool, the two matches were decided in the last minutes of recovery. Roma catches up with Inter in the standings, finding the winning goal with Di Guglielmo in the final second against the Nerazzurri. After conceding a comeback from Juventus, Milan finds the equalizer in the 90th minute thanks to a fantastic backheel by Karczewska.
Relegation Pool
Lazio’s golden period: 6 wins in the last 7
Napoli – Lazio 0 – 4
29′ Connolly (L), 63′ Visentin (L), 81′ Piemonte (L), 90+7′ Kajan
Two wins in two for Lazio under Grassadonia in this Relegation Pool. Also against Napoli, just like a week ago against Sampdoria, the Biancocelesti dominated the field and secured three crucial points to consolidate the sixth position in the standings, a remarkable achievement considering the start of the season for Lazio.
The first half was balanced with the team of Grassadonia taking the lead after half an hour of play with a perfect set-piece play. A free-kick from the three-quarter line saw Eriksen passing to her left to Zanoli, whose cross found Connolly unmarked at the far post. The Biancoceleste defender volleyed the ball into the net past Beretta.
In the second half, Lazio extended their lead with captain Visentin. Shortly after Grassadonia‘s dismissal for protests, the Roman side hit on the counterattack. Number 99 sprinted onside on the through ball from Oliviero and beat the Napoli goalkeeper one-on-one. However, there were doubts about the starting position of the Biancoceleste captain.
The third goal came 9 minutes from the end with Piemonte, who scored her seventh goal in three matches. The former Milan and Roma striker received Oliviero‘s low cross in the middle and made no mistake from close range, sealing the match. At the end of regulation time, the Biancocelesti added a fourth goal through Kajan. Napoli was caught off guard on the counterattack as number 5 and Le Bihan combined to reach the penalty area. Le Bihan‘s final pass was intercepted, inadvertently setting up a powerful left-footed strike from Kajan.
Lazio recorded their sixth win in the last seven matches, consolidating their sixth place in the standings. On the other hand, Napoli will have to fight until the last moment with Sampdoria to remain in the top flight.
Como returns to victory: 4-match losing streak ended
Como – Sassuolo 3 – 0
21′ Karlernas (C), 43′ Kramzar (C), 76′ Del Estal (C)
Smiles return to Como after four consecutive defeats that saw the Larian team drop to the last position in the Scudetto Pool in favor of Milan.
It was all too easy for the hosts with Sassuolo never posing a threat in the offensive zone. The first real chance at 21′ saw Como open the scoring with Karlernas. A low cross from the offensive three-quarters by Guagni was poorly cleared by the neroverde defense, with Pleidrup inadvertently redirecting the ball to the unmarked number 16 who easily beat Durand from close range.
Sassuolo failed to respond to the setback and a few minutes before halftime, they conceded a second goal from former Roma player Kramzar. Kerr sneaked in behind Orsi and played the ball into the path of the 2006-born player, who coolly finished to beat the neroverde goalkeeper again.
In the second half, Sottili‘s girls managed the match, risking practically nothing and definitively closing the Sassuolo case 15 minutes before the end with Del Estal. A corner from the right by KramzarDurand could do nothing.
A significant victory for Como as they set their sights on the sixth place defended by Lazio. The gap with Sassuolo in the standings has widened, with the latter stuck at 22 points.
Rest: Sampdoria
Scudetto Pool
Di Guglielmo like Shomurodov: last-second victory
Roma – Inter 2 – 1
6′ Wullaert (I), 68′ Giugliano (R), 90+5′ Di Guglielmo (R)
The Roma women of Spugna take inspiration from Ranieri‘s Roma. Just like their male colleagues, the Giallorosse find victory at the last breath, tying with Inter in the standings (with a game in hand).
A lively and entertaining match unfolded at the Tre Fontane, as expected. Before fans could even settle in the stands, Roma troubled the Inter defense, with Runarsdottir immediately making an impact. However, it was Inter who took the lead at the first opportunity.
Giugliano carelessly lost the ball in a dangerous area, triggering a counterattack by Piovani‘s side with Csiszar playing the ball to Wullaert on the right side of the penalty area. The former Wolfsburg player beat Kresche with a perfect curling shot into the far corner. Roma did not let the setback affect them too much and started to gain ground, creating chance after chance without restoring parity before the end of the first half.
The second half started in a similar fashion with the Giallorosse in search of an equalizer and Inter ready to strike on the counter, exploiting the mistakes of the Roman defense.
At 68′, Roma found the equalizer with a penalty from Giugliano. Viens received the ball with her back to goal in the area, was fouled by Milinkovic, and the referee pointed to the spot without hesitation. From the penalty spot, the number 10 sent Runarsdottir
Roma, thanks to Coach Spugna‘s changes, pushed for a crucial victory and found the winning goal at the last second that sent the Tre Fontane into raptures. Corelli cut inside and attempted a cross into the middle, the deflected ball fell to Giugliano who confidently struck the ball. The Inter goalkeeper managed to block it but the rebound fell to Di Guglielmo who made no mistake from close range.
Karczewska saves Milan
Milan – Juventus 2 – 2
19′ Domping (M), 63′ Beccari (J), 72′ Girelli (J), 90′ Karczewska (M)
An exciting match at the Puma House of Football where Milan and Juventus share the points. The Old Lady immediately threatened the Rossoneri defense by hitting the post directly from a corner kick.
After the initial scare, Milan gained confidence and opened the scoring in the 19th minute from the penalty spot. A low cross from the left for RenzottiHarviken: the referee had no doubts and pointed to the spot.
Domping stepped up and converted the penalty, slotting it into the right corner past Peyraud-Magnin. Juventus tried to equalize, attacking throughout the first half, but failed to breach the defense of Bakker‘s team, who effectively closed the central spaces.
At the hour mark, the Bianconere found the equalizer through Beccari, who had only been on the field a couple of minutes. A rapid counterattack by the Old Lady saw Cantore released on the right, with the number 9 beating everyone to enter the box and setting up Beccari, who cleverly outfoxed Koivisto before beating Giuliani.
Juventus, boosted by the goal, completed the comeback shortly after with Cantore turning into an assist provider once again. The Bianconeri forward evaded her direct opponent with a sombrero, cut inside, and perfectly set up Girelli in the box, who crossed the ball with his right foot to beat the Rossoneri goalkeeper. Conceding their second goal, Milan pushed for an equalizer and found it in the 90th minute thanks to a moment of magic from Karczewska. The Rossoneri number 10, anticipating Nadim‘s slow diagonal ball into the box, cleverly continued the trajectory by backheeling the ball, deceiving Peyraud-Magnin.
A valuable draw for Milan as they close in on Fiorentina, now just 2 points away. Juventus consolidates their lead in the standings, 11 points clear of Inter and Roma.

Twenty-fifth appointment with “Macché te lo guardi?”, the weekly column of Calciostyle dedicated to the 2024/2025 Serie A women’s championship. Women’s football in Italy in recent years has been gaining more and more space, attracting the interest of millions of fans who experience the sport in our beloved Boot. Despite there still being a vast majority of people who “snub” this category, in recent seasons there have been several events and facts that have brought women’s football to a very high level. We cannot overlook the transition to professionalism (1st July 2022) and reaching milestones that until a few years ago were unthinkable, such as reaching the 40,000 spectators mark for a single match. Compared to other European countries (Spain and England in particular), the difference in terms of audience and interest surrounding women’s football is, to quote a famous Roman expression, “still a dear friend,” meaning it is still quite significant. By also leveraging the irreverence of the column title “Macché, te lo guardi?”, we want to shed further light on a reality that is gaining more and more ground in our beloved country: women’s football. Ultimately, what matters to us Italians is to watch and be able to comment on the game of football, regardless of who is playing. Serie A Femminile, the seventh round of Scudetto Pool and Relegation PoolThe seventh round of the Scudetto Pool and Relegation Pool of Serie A women’s sees, especially at the top of the table, two great joys. Indeed, Juventus, after a two-year absence, returns to the top of Italy with three rounds to spare by defeating Milan at home thanks to a brace from the unstoppable and increasingly legendary Cristiana Girelli. The Old Lady owes her sixth Scudetto to the Bianconeri striker, who scored 19 goals in 22 appearances this season. Also celebrating is Inter under Piovani. In the big home match against Roma for the fight for second place, the Nerazzurre beat the Giallorosse 3-0 and mathematically secure their historic first qualification for the Women’s Champions League. In the Relegation Pool, Lazio and Sassuolo win convincingly against Napoli and Como, respectively. The Biancocelesti overtake Como once again in the standings, taking the lead in the Relegation Pool. Meanwhile, the Neroverdi close the gap on the Larian team in the standings. Relegation PoolPiemonte and Goldoni lead Lazio: Napoli’s regretLazio – Napoli 2 – 1 2′ Piemonte (L), 41′ Goldoni (L), 50′ Di Giammarino (N) A third consecutive victory for Lazio under Grassadonia as they defeat Napoli at home at the Marko Fersini stadium in Formello. The home team starts stronger with the ever-so-spirited Piemonte putting her personal stamp on the match just two minutes in. The former Milan and Roma forward is skillful in receiving a pass in the box from Simonetti and, with a quick turn, sends the direct opponent to the bar, launched in a sliding tackle to stop the Biancocelesti’s attack. A strong finish on the far post where Bacic can do little or nothing. Lazio dominates the field and continues to attack, finding the second goal 4 minutes before the end of the first half. A free-kick from Eriksen to the far post where Goldoni emerges with a header to score on the opposite post past the Napoli goalkeeper. The response from the visiting team is swift, and in added time they come inches away from equalizing with Moretti, who fails to put enough power on his header from close range to beat Cetinja, who makes a decisive reflex save. This is an alarm bell for the Biancocelesti defense, which concedes a goal at the start of the second half through the magic of Di Giammarino. From the left, Sciabica cuts inside and finds the number 21 Napoli player in the middle, who, with a first-time shot, clinically places the ball perfectly into the top corner. Despite having plenty of time left, Napoli’s attacks prove futile as they push until the end, without finding the equalizing goal. The relegation battle scheduled for the next matchday will be decisive in determining whether Napoli or Sampdoria will be relegated. Easy victory for Sassuolo: Como tamed in 36 minutesSassuolo – Como 3 – 0 2′, 29′ Clelland (S), 36′ Gallazzi (S) Another third consecutive victory for Sassuolo as they close out the match against Como in just 36 minutes, halting Como’s streak of 4 consecutive positive results. Right from the start, the Neroverdi take the lead with Clelland. Defensive blunder by Kramzar as she sets up the number 26 forward in the box unintentionally, who one-on-one with the Como goalkeeper makes no mistake. Como is nowhere to be seen in the first half, and Sassuolo takes advantage, going two goals ahead at the half-hour mark again through the ’93 class. A lightning counterattack by the home team, 2 against 1. Dhont draws the defender towards her and serves Clelland in the middle, who dribbles past Ghilardi and scores his personal brace with an empty net. Seven minutes later, Sassuolo scores the third goal from a corner kick. Dhont takes the corner, and Clelland heads it against the crossbar: Gallazzi is the quickest to react and takes advantage of the loose ball in the box to seal the game. In the second half, Como tries to make a comeback but must contend with the brilliant Neroverdi goalkeeper, who excels in saving Kramzar‘s close-range shot. Three crucial points for Sassuolo as they shorten the gap to just 1 point in the standings behind Como. With just four points separating Lazio, Como, and Sassuolo, Napoli and Sampdoria find themselves increasingly isolated in the relegation battle. Rest: Sampdoria Scudetto PoolJuventus x6: Girelli leads the celebrationJuventus – Milan 2 – 0 45+1′, 47′ Girelli (J) Juventus returns to the top of Italy under coach Canzi. The celebration for the sixth Scudetto in Juventus history takes place in Biella: a near-perfect season for the Old Lady, who clinches the Tricolore with three rounds to spare. Leading the celebration is the top scorer of the Serie A women’s: Cristiana Girelli. The Juventus striker’s brace, at the end of the first half and start of the second half, seals the home victory against a determined Milan. Just before half-time, Girelli is brought down in the box by Sorelli, and the referee points to the spot without hesitation. The number 10 Bianconera steps up from the penalty spot and beats Fedele. For Juventus’ second goal, the Sorelli-Girelli duel is once again in the spotlight, with the ’90s class emerging victorious. A flick from Cantore to the striker who outmaneuvers Sorelli and, thanks to a deflection off her, beats Fedele. Girelli has scored 19 goals in 22 appearances, putting on a spectacular season and being one of the main contributors to Juventus’ sixth Scudetto. The goal now is to arrive in top form for the Coppa Italia final against Roma, scheduled for May 18th in Como. Inter makes history: first qualification in Women’s Champions LeagueInter – Roma 0 – 3 6′ Polli (I), 72′ aut. Troelsgaard (R), 80′ Bartoli (I) A historic day for Inter under coach Piovani, as they defeat Roma at home with a resounding 3-0 victory and secure their first-ever qualification for the next edition of the Women’s Champions League. Right from the start, Roma threatens with the post hit by Haavi just two minutes into the game. However, the Giallorosse fade away from that point onward and struggle to create opportunities against Runarsdottir. Inter opens the scoring in the 6th minute with Elisa Polli. The Nerazzurri forward becomes unstoppable when facing the Giallorosso defense: she scores her sixth goal of the season, the third against her former Italian champions. A great offensive transition by Inter with Wullaert providing a perfect cross for Csiszar’s header, hitting the crossbar. The ball bounces on the line but is pushed into the net by the responsive Polli. Roma feels the impact and disappears from the field, leaving the Nerazzurre as absolute masters of the game. Inter takes advantage, creating a shooting gallery at the goal defended by Ceasar, who on several occasions comes up big to save the Spugna team from a heavier humiliation. For the Giallorosse, this season has been often unlucky, as evidenced by the second goal scored by the Nerazzurre. Wullaert crosses low for Polli, but Troelsgaard intervenes, inadvertently sending the ball into her own net in an embarrassing manner. Eight minutes later, Inter finds the third goal through the former Roma captain Bartoli. More than just damage, it’s a blow to Roma to see their former captain score against them. A short corner is taken by Schough, who receives centrally at the edge of the box. A mishit by the number 22 player becomes a perfect assist for Bartoli’s acrobatic shot in the box, leaving Ceasar with no chance. Unbridled joy at the Gianni Brera as the Nerazzurre secure a historic qualification for the Women’s Champions League. A deep red for Roma, who will have to bounce back in these final matches to not squander the Coppa Italia final against Juventus, scheduled for May 18th in Como.
