CT Luciano Spalletti is risking everything and revolutionizing Italy: new faces, returns, and exclusions for the double challenge that determines the Nations League Final Four.
For the match against Germany, Italy’s CT, Luciano Spalletti, has decided to shake things up with his selections. For some, it’s a comeback, for others, it’s a first-time call-up.

Italy, Spalletti’s selections
Here are the selections made by the CT of the Italian National Team:
Goalkeepers: Gianluigi Donnarumma (Paris Saint-Germain), Alex Meret (Napoli), Guglielmo Vicario (Tottenham).
Defenders: Alessandro Bastoni (Inter), Alessandro Buongiorno (Napoli), Riccardo Calafiori (Arsenal), Andrea Cambiaso (Juventus), Pietro Comuzzo (Fiorentina), Giovanni Di Lorenzo (Napoli), Federico Gatti (Juventus), Matteo Ruggeri (Atalanta), Destiny Udogie (Tottenham).
Midfielders: Nicolò Barella (Inter), Cesare Casadei (Torino), Davide Frattesi (Inter), Samuele Ricci (Torino), Nicolò Rovella (Lazio), Sandro Tonali (Newcastle).
Forwards: Moise Kean (Fiorentina), Lorenzo Lucca (Udinese), Daniel Maldini (Atalanta), Matteo Politano (Napoli), Giacomo Raspadori (Napoli), Mateo Retegui (Atalanta), Mattia Zaccagni (Lazio).
The importance of the match against Germany
Beating the Germans would provide the Azzurri with an easier path against opponents who are theoretically within reach and a lower expenditure of energy, as there would be fewer matches to play (thanks to the Group A with 4 selections). Otherwise, they would have to deal with one of the biggest threats: Norway with talents like Haaland, which could be a tougher obstacle in the fight for first place that secures direct qualification, avoiding the risky playoff route.
CT’s words for Italy-Germany
“Italy-Germany is an important match for the history of football. For a CT, it is the game to play. Because it’s like a derby for those who coach Milan or Inter.”

Fiorentina-Dynamo Kiev 2-1: Kean and Gud score in Vanoli’s first victory
The Fiorentina returns to victory in Europe, for Vanoli the first smile of his adventure with the Gigliati.
Kean and Gudmundsson give three points to Vanoli, which partially adjust the standings of the Conference group. The first victory for the Gigliati coach, after two draws and two defeats collected so far.
Everyone was waiting for a victory, hoping it could boost the self-esteem of a group that again tonight showed clear difficulties.
Dynamo Kiev proved to be a modest opponent, especially in defense, but at the beginning of the second half when they pushed the accelerator the Viola team struggled.
In the final half-hour, Vanoli switched from 3-5-2 to a 4-4-2, an experiment that could find continuity in the near future, as the best Fiorentina was seen in this part of the match.
Fiorentina-Dynamo Kiev: the Viola ratings
DE GEA 6 – A long-time spectator of the match, falls on the great shot Mykhalienko on which he seems to be able to do nothing.
PONGRACIC 6 – A game without too many mistakes, the opponent is not irresistible.
COMUZZO 6.5 – The best of the defense in this European evening, does not seek too many frills. Cleans the area in an old-fashioned way.
VITI 6 – Gives Ranieri a rest, should not suffer too much.
From 20’st PARISI 6.5 – Comes in very well, sends two very nice balls into the opponent’s area: a goal by Gudmundsson and a great opportunity for Kean.
DODÒ 6.5 – Finally a consistent performance for the whole game. Provides the assist for Kean, had also put a very good one for Dzeko.
RICHARDSON 6 – In the first half he seems to have ended up at the Franchi by chance, much better in the second half.
NICOLUSSI CAVIGLIA 5.5 – The first midfielder to be substituted: struggles to convince Vanoli.
From 20’st KOUAMÈ 6 – Italiano’s “warrior” makes his garra available to Vanoli as well.
NDOUR 5.5 – A bit like Richardson, only he never raises his level during the match.
From 34’st MANDRAGORA – S.v.
FORTINI 6 – Puts in leg and will along the flank, even though few clean balls come from his feet for the attack.
DZEKO 6 – Captain of the evening: unlucky in the first half, when Kean deflects a great shot that was sure to go in. He’s there.
From 20’st GUDMUNDSSON 7 – Comes into the game very well with many interesting plays, especially the goal.
KEAN 6.5 – Half a point less because he could have scored at least a brace. It would have been very important for the morale of this striker who still gives his all on every ball.
