From the adventure at Udinese to the experience with the Italian National Team: striker Lorenzo Lucca shares his story in a long interview with La Gazzetta.
In the surprising Udinese team that is in the top half of the Serie A table, one of the key players is certainly Lorenzo Lucca. The central forward born in 2000 arrived in Friuli in the summer of 2023 after a less successful stint at Ajax. 8 goals and 4 assists in his first season in Serie A, while now he is already in double figures, with 9 more matches to go in the current season.

The positive moment of Lorenzo Lucca between Udinese and the National Team
The Bianconeri striker granted a long interview to La Gazzetta dello Sport, in which he discussed various topics, from behind the scenes at Udinese to the call from the Italian National Team coach Luciano Spalletti. Here are his words.
Experience in the National Team
“I am happy because the coach gave me space. And I reunited with many teammates from the Under 21s. But I return exactly as I went, I decide to continue the journey with Udinese: there are nine games left, we must give our all. I bonded with Ricci, who is from Pisa where I have been. But in general, the National Team is a united group with strong young players. I am confident, we will go to the World Cup, there are no excuses.”
About Kean
“Me and Moise were together at Torino when we were kids. He is a great friend. We have known each other since we were children, and it was nice to meet again and remember what we used to do in the locker room. We have always stayed in touch. He is very strong. He has more shot and I have more headers? We both have everything. I envy nothing about him.”
The key to staying in the group
“Continue working with serenity, stay calm. And I must not put pressure on myself. I have to think about improving as I have done so far, with the confidence of Udinese which two years ago was the first to believe in me after a tough season.”
Competitive spirit
“I have a lot of it. If you’re not hungry, you won’t go anywhere. We have to try to go as far as possible, remembering that last year we were in big trouble and barely escaped. But in Udine, there is a strong group, with people of personality. I don’t set goals, doing so can be a mental limitation. I don’t talk about goals. I think game after game, goal after goal.”
About the incident with Thauvin in Lecce
“I took all my teammates out to dinner. We went 20 minutes from Udine. I paid, but there’s no need to talk about it anymore. It was blown out of proportion. Thauvin is very strong and gives us a big hand.”
Will another adventure abroad be possible?
“It makes no difference. I have grown physically, technically, and mentally. I see more goals abroad, Serie A is challenging but it’s a challenge that gives me adrenaline. I am the master of my own destiny.”
About some teammates
“Sanchez gives me a lot of advice. I talk to him a lot because I know Spanish. Solet is strong, but he struggles with me… He has a lot of technique and a lot of self-esteem. In this job, mentality is 90%. Iker Bravo has technique and personality and can be the future of Udinese“.
Upcoming matches in the league
“We have some direct clashes at home, we have Bologna and Fiorentina. And we are strong at home. Genoa is a tough field, hot. We must not think about ending up in the left side of the table, but always give our all.”
About Ajax
“Those I hear from, Edson Alvarez and Conceição, no longer play there. I wish all the best to the club that no longer belongs to me. But the past is the past. I was not redeemed, I only focus on the present.”

Fiorentina, Franchi Stadium: The Club’s Statement
ACF Fiorentina, in response to today’s statement from the Municipality of Florence regarding the Franchi Stadium, clarifies that the Municipality has provided information in recent days regarding the progress of the works and the delays that are already expected by the end of 2026.
The Club can only express discontent and surprise considering the cooperation always shown, such as leaving the stadium free from the end of May to mid-September this year.
Further possible activities for the second part of the works have also been outlined, which at the moment could still involve several months away from the Franchi. Scenarios that can only generate concern and disappointment. In light of the latest information provided, as already communicated to the Municipality, the conditions for any involvement of Fiorentina in the project will need to be re-evaluated.
There is still great regret for not having been able to complete the New Franchi with previous interlocutors, which in 2019, President Commisso wanted to realize at his own expense, only to realize that this was never allowed.
The Franchi Stadium, already a construction site since February 2024, will remain so with all the economic and sporting difficulties that follow, certainly throughout the 2026/27 season, the year of the centenary.
