Now really tumultuous times in Sampdoria, with a situation never seen since the foundation of the Blucerchiato club in 1946, with the prospect of relegation to Serie C if the Serie B tournament were to end today. To replace Leonardo Semplici, many names were mentioned, but a really suggestive one came up, that of Roberto Mancini, the captain of a thousand battles, the one who led them to the 1991 scudetto and the Champions League final at Wembley the following year.

However, Mancini, after a long reflection, has declined the offer, and the new coach of the Blucerchiati will be Alberigo Evani, his former teammate. Nevertheless, Mancini will have a role within the Dorian club, that of technical manager, overseeing the technical area.

The idea, truly suggestive, born from many former Blucerchiata glories seeing their club at risk of Serie C for the first time, seemed to be materializing, with contacts with the management starting. However, in the end, Mancini declined but reiterated his willingness to support his former club, with a very English role, which suits the former National Team coach well.

So it will be Alberigo Evani who will have the onerous task of making the desperate attempt to save the Blucerchiati from relegation. For Mancini, however, he will still contribute to his former club, which he has never forgotten and wants to contribute as a technical manager.
