Napoli-Empoli: Curiosities and Statistics
Great balance in the last 20 matches between Napoli and Empoli in Serie A: eight wins each and four draws. Napoli achieved a 1-0 victory in the first leg match on October 20, after losing both games against Empoli last season (both 0-1).
The last draw between Napoli and Empoli in Serie A dates back to September 13, 2015 (2-2 at the Castellani stadium), since then seven wins for Napoli and five wins for Empoli in 12 league encounters.
Empoli has won two of the last three away matches against Napoli in Serie A (1 draw), after achieving only one victory in the first eight away games against Napoli in the top league (1 draw, 6 losses).
After a streak of seven consecutive wins in the league, Napoli has won only two of the last nine Serie A matches (6 draws, 1 loss); since the beginning of February 2025, in fact, no team has drawn more matches than Napoli in the top 5 European leagues (six matches, like Everton).
Napoli has conceded exactly one goal in all of the last five home league matches, after conceding only six goals in the first 10 games at the Maradona stadium in this Serie A season, keeping six clean sheets.
Empoli has gone 16 league matches without a win in Serie A (5 draws, 11 losses), equaling its longest streak of consecutive matches without a win in the competition (16 also between December 2021 and April 2022, with Aurelio Andreazzoli as coach).
After draws against Como and Cagliari, Empoli could draw at least three consecutive matches in Serie A for the first time since the period between August and September 2022 (four times in that case).
Considering only the first halves of this season, Napoli would be 2nd in the standings (52 points, tied with Lazio) and Empoli 9th (41 points, tied with Bologna); moving to the second half, Napoli would be in 7th place (49 points, like Milan) while Empoli would be bottom of the table (19 points).
Romelu Lukaku has been involved in four goals in four matches against Empoli in Serie A (three goals and one assist), including a brace on April 23, 2023 with Inter. The Belgian striker, with 11 goals and eight assists in this season, could contribute to at least 20 goals in a season in Serie A and the Premier League for the first time since 2020/21 (24 goals and 11 assists in that case with Inter).
The first of Lorenzo Colombo’s 14 Serie A goals was scored against Napoli on August 31, 2022 at the Maradona stadium wearing the Lecce shirt. 79% of his goals in the top league have come away from home (11/14), a record percentage in Serie A history among players with at least as many total goals.

Cremonese-Udinese ends 1-1, last match of the seventh day. Terracciano’s goal in the first half was answered by Zaniolo’s first goal in the league.
Closing the seventh day of Serie A is Cremonese–Udinese, Monday’s postponement. A match between two teams that started well in the league but have not found a win for several games.
Both coaches focus on quality: Nicola lines up Vandeputte and the attacking duo Bonazzoli-Vardy, with the Englishman making his debut as a starter, while Runjaić responds with Atta and Ekkelenkamp in midfield, Karlstrom in charge and Zaniolo as a forward alongside Bayo.

Cremonese-Udinese, first half in red-gray tones
The start is immediately favorable to the home team, who unlock the result in the 4th minute with Terracciano’s header from Vandeputte’s free-kick. The goal charges Cremonese, who dominate the first half thanks to the intensity of Bondo and the creativity of Vandeputte in midfield.
The red-grays come close to doubling their lead several times, first with Zerbin and then with Vandeputte and Bonazzoli, who hit the crossbar in the 31st minute. Udinese, on the other hand, struggles to react and ends the first half in difficulty, saved only by the opponents’ inaccuracies.
Zaniolo responds and Vardy almost scores the winning goal
In the second half, the game changes. Runjaić’s team comes back onto the field with a completely different attitude and immediately finds the equalizer in the 51st minute: Bayo serves Zanoli on the right, perfect cross and winning header by Zaniolo, scoring his first goal in Udinese colors.
The Friulians gain confidence and force Cremonese to drop back, but in the 60th minute, it’s Nicola’s team that comes very close to taking the lead again: Vardy sprints behind the defense and tries a chip shot, but Okoye does not allow it.
In the final minutes, opportunities abound on both sides: Piotrowski and Atta try for Udinese, then Vázquez hits the post with a free-kick in the 79th minute.
In the 91st minute, the last great chance falls to the red-grays: Sarmiento takes advantage of a glaring mistake by Solet, who is having an off day, and serves Vardy, who in the box gets rid of a defender and shoots practically on target but finds the decisive deflection by Kabasele, tonight the best in the Udinese defense.
The match ends 1-1, a result that satisfies neither team. Cremonese regrets the missed opportunities, while Udinese can only console themselves for the second-half reaction and Zaniolo’s excellent performance.

Serie A, weekend plagued by goal drought: negative record within reach

The 7th round of Serie A risks being remembered in history for having the lowest number of goals. There is still one match that could prevent this.
Four nil-nil draws and a maximum of three goals in a single match have characterized this round of Serie A. Little spectacle and little effectiveness, only the talents of the moment have shone.
Serie A, the latest negative record and what must happen in Cremonese-Udinese
Only nine goals in nine matches, this is the data that has surprised everyone among fans and insiders regarding the seventh round of Serie A. Four matches without goals and many teams struggling to find a way to score for several weeks.
Abroad, it is said that Serie A is the most boring championship in terms of pure entertainment, and unfortunately, this stereotype has been confirmed this past weekend.
The only hope to avoid setting a negative record and beat those belonging to the days: 9th of the 2010-2011 season, 32nd of the 2017-2018 season, and 2nd of the 2022-23 season with a total of 13 goals, is that the last match on the schedule, namely Cremonese-Udinese, records at least 4 goals to at least equal the previous negative record.
