The twenty-fourth appointment with “Macché te lo guardi?”, the weekly column by Calciostyle dedicated to the 2024/2025 Serie A women’s championship.
Women’s football in Italy has been gaining more and more attention in recent years, attracting the interest of millions of fans who experience the sport in our beloved country. Despite there still being a vast majority of people who “snub” this category, in recent seasons there have been several events and developments that have elevated women’s football to a very high level.
We cannot ignore the transition to professionalism (July 1, 2022) and reaching milestones that until a few years ago were unthinkable, such as reaching a quota of 40,000 spectators for a single match.
Compared to other European countries (especially Spain and England), the difference in terms of audience and interest in women’s football is still quite significant.
By also taking advantage of the irreverence of the title of the column “Macché, te lo guardi?”, we want to shed further light on a reality that is gaining more and more ground in our beloved country: women’s football. Because in the end, we Italians are only interested in watching and being able to comment on the game of football, regardless of who is playing it.
Women’s Serie A, the sixth round of Scudetto and Relegation Pools
We are getting closer to the end of the Women’s Serie A. In the just concluded weekend, the sixth round of the top-tier championship took place, divided into Scudetto and Relegation Pools. As for the relegation zone, Sampdoria and Napoli once again fall to Lazio and Sassuolo, postponing the decisive step for survival in Serie A to the direct clash between the two teams. The Biancocelesti return to the top of the Relegation Pool, waiting for Como, who will face Sassuolo next week.
Regarding the Scudetto Pool, Juventus takes a step closer to the Tricolore by defeating Roma away from home, in a general rehearsal for the Italian Cup final scheduled for May 17 in Como. A heavy defeat for the Giallorosse who remain in third place, just one point behind Inter, who will be the next opponents of the Giallorosse.
Milan crushes Fiorentina with an outstanding performance by Ijeh. The hat-trick by Janogy for Viola is futile in terms of the result.
Relegation Pool
Lazio’s power 3: everything decided in 12 minutes
Sampdoria – Lazio 0 – 3
52′ Le Bihan (L), 61′ Visentin (L), 64′ Simonetti (L)
An easy victory for Lazio at the Sciorba in the match valid for the sixth round of the Relegation Pool against Sampdoria, who are in a fierce battle to stay in Serie A. In the first half, the Biancocelesti threatened the Blucerchiati defense at the 24th minute with a free-kick from Simonetti. A set-piece at the edge of the penalty area with the midfielder number 20 hitting an incredible crossbar with the ball bouncing out.
After a blocked first half, Grassadonia‘s team unleashed in the second half, closing the match against Samp in just 12 minutes of play. A few minutes into the second half, a free-kick just inside the box: Simonetti touches the ball for a sharp right-footed strike by Le Bihan that perfectly finds the top corner of the Blucerchiati goal. Nine minutes later, Lazio doubled their lead thanks to the seventh goal of the season by Visentin. Le Bihan played it to Goldoni on the wing, who immediately crossed it for the perfect run of the number 99 Biancoceleste who scored from close range.
Samp completely crumbled and three minutes later, they conceded a penalty that sealed the match. Panzeri brought down a rampant Visentin in the box, leaving no doubts for the referee. From the spot, Simonetti stepped up and beat Larsen with a powerful right-footed shot.
An important victory for Lazio, who temporarily caught up with Como at the top of the Relegation Pool standings. Samp will play their relegation fate in a direct clash with Napoli.
Napoli believes but it’s not enough: Dhont and the post condemn the partenopee
Napoli – Sassuolo 0 – 1
76′ Dhont (S)
An attacking and attentive Napoli falls at home to Sassuolo by a narrow 0-1 margin. The partenopee tried several times in both the first and second halves but were thwarted by the wall set up by the neroverde goalkeeper Durand. The decisive goal came in the 76th minute: Philtejens sprinted down the left, delivering a precise cross to the head of Dhont. The striker rose above everyone else and headed the ball into the net, beating Bacic at the near post.
The partenopee had the opportunity in stoppage time through Moretti. A quick counterattack with Sciabica skipping the first press and playing a vertical ball to number 28, who cut inside the box and fired a powerful right-footed shot that hit the outside post, shattering all the hopes of Napoli, just centimeters away from securing an important point in the relegation battle.
Sassuolo, despite having nothing more to ask from the championship, secured their second consecutive victory, the fourth in the last 6 matches.
Rest: Como
Scudetto Pool
Unleashed Milan: Ijeh dominates against Viola
22′, 28′ Ijeh (M), 44′, 63′, 82′ Janogy (F), 48′ Arrigoni (M), 53′ Renzotti (M), 61′ Koivisto (M)
A rampant Milan overwhelms a Fiorentina far from the Europa zone. The Rossonere close the gap in the standings on De La Fuente‘s side, who appeared totally at the mercy of the Rossoneri’s attacks.
The spotlight was on Ijeh, who, within 6 minutes, put Milan ahead with a fine brace. In the 22nd minute, Mascarello created space in the penalty area with an illuminating pass to the 2001-born striker, who coolly beat FiskerstrandDompig in the box saw Ijeh outwit Faerge with a spectacular turn, followed by a powerful right-footed shot that the Viola goalkeeper couldn’t stop.
Milan dominated, but a minute before the end of the first half, they conceded a goal that halved the lead. A defensive error by the Rossoneri with Fedele making a mistake in the build-up, gifting the ball to Fiorentina. Bonfantini immediately found Janogy offside and the striker scored from close range.
However, the 2-1 lead lasted very briefly. Arrigoni attempted a seemingly innocuous cross from the left, which was deflected by Pedersen‘s head, deceiving FiskerstrandViola‘s favorite victim, Arrigoni, scored her sixth goal in as many matches.
In the 53rd minute, there was room for the first professional goal by Renzotti. The young forward sprinted centrally, rounded the Viola goalkeeper, and with a slight lift on the shot, beat the desperate defense to find her first personal joy.
The final blow came shortly after. In the 61st minute, Koivisto made the most of Arrigoni‘s flick in the box and didn’t miss from close range. Fiorentina tried to get back into the game with Janogy, the only player in form for the Viola. The subsequent two goals scored by the number 9 were inconsequential as the match ended with a 5-3 scoreline.
Decided by Godo/Cantore: Bianconere on the verge of the Tricolore
Roma – Juventus 1 – 2
9′ Godo (J), 31′ Cantore (J), 83′ Giacinti (R)
Juventus is making giant strides towards conquering the Tricolore, which has been missing for the past two years. The Bianconere, away at Roma, had a hungry start, knowing that the final goal is very close. Before the spectators at the Tre Fontane could even settle in, the Vecchia Signora found themselves face to face with Ceasar, the Giallorosso goalkeeper.
Cantore raced down the left, beating Linari for speed and delivering a pass to a lone Brighton, who unbelievably missed the target from close range. It was just a warning for the Roma defense, who had to capitulate after just 9 minutes. Girelli played the ball to Godo at the edge of the area, who moved to the center-right and, with no Roma players marking her, had all the time to set up and curl a precise shot into the far corner, beating Ceasar and giving the Bianconere the lead.
Roma failed to show up on the field, compounding several errors in the build-up, which gave plenty of counter-attacking opportunities to Canzi‘s side. It was from one of these errors that Juventus scored their second goal through Cantore. The Bianconeri forward stole the ball from Linari and, one-on-one with the Giallorossi goalkeeper, did not miss, putting a firm grip on the match in the first half.
In the second half, the story remained the same, with Roma lacking the courage to take on the Juventus defense and the Bianconeri in routine control of the game.
Substitutions made by coach Spugna provided the necessary push, and the Giallorosse began to threaten Peyraud-Magnin‘s goal. In the 83rd minute, Roma unexpectedly found a goal through Giacinti. The Italian forward made the most of a through ball by Troelsgaard and, in front of the Bianconeri goalkeeper, made no mistake, reopening the match.
The match, however, ended with a 1-2 scoreline in favor of the Bianconere. Indeed, the late surge by Spugna’s team failed to make an impact, with the best chance coming seconds before the final whistle with the pair Glionna–Corelli, both substitutes. A defensive error by Juventus saw Glionna in an optimal position but instead chose to backheel the ball to her teammate, who shot wide.
A crucial victory for Juventus, who can now celebrate an undisputed Tricolore from the next match onwards. The Giallorosse will face Inter in the other Scudetto Pool match for the second position.
Rest: Inter

Disappointing home debut for Rossettini’s Roma. Defeated 0-4 against Barcelona’s aliens in a sold-out Tre Fontane. Second matchday and second defeat for Roma under Rossettini in the Women’s Champions League. After facing Real Madrid a week ago, Roma welcomed the aliens from Barcelona. “Aliens” because they are not only one of the strongest, if not the strongest, teams in the world, but also had a superb start to the season. Since the beginning of the 2025/2026 season, Barcelona has played 8 matches, winning all of them, scoring 44 goals and conceding only two. A true powerhouse, which also crushed the Giallorossa team in a completely sold-out Tre Fontane. ![]() ROMA FEMMINILE FORMATION (PHOTO BY SALVATORE FORNELLI)
Despite a significant technical gap, Rossettini‘s girls managed to keep up with the Spanish team in the first half, ending the first half only one goal down, scored less than two minutes into the match. Roma played a defensive game, trying to limit Barcelona‘s constant passing game and exploiting their high defensive line for counterattacks. The opportunity for an equalizer came to Viens, who faced the opposing goalkeeper one-on-one but was unable to score. In the second half, due to collective fatigue, Barcelona scored three more goals past Baldi‘s goal. The Spanish team also missed a penalty with former Ballon d’Or winner Putellas, who shot high. Despite the differences on the field, there are positive aspects for coach Rossettini to take into account for the upcoming matches in the league and Champions League, where the opponents will be, at least on paper, more manageable and within reach. Roma – Barcelona 0 – 4 (2′ Brugts, 58′ Nazareth, 71′ pen. Putellas, 90′ Hansen)
