Twenty-eighth and final appointment with “Macché te lo guardi?”, the weekly column of Calciostyle dedicated to the 2024/2025 Women’s Serie A championship.
The women’s football movement in Italy in recent years is increasingly gaining ground, attracting the interest of millions of fans who experience the sport in our beloved Boot. Although there is still a vast majority of people who “snub” this category, in recent seasons there have been several events and facts that have brought women’s football to a very high level.
We cannot fail to start from the transition to professionalism (1st July 2022) reaching milestones that until a few years ago were unthinkable, such as reaching the quota of 40 thousand spectators for a single match.
Compared to other European countries (Spain and England above all), the difference in terms of audience and interest surrounding women’s football is, to quote a well-known Roman expression, “still a dear friend,” that is, very wide.
Also taking advantage of the irreverence of the title of the column “Macché, te lo guardi?”, we want to shed more light on a reality that is increasingly taking hold in our beloved country: women’s football. Because in the end, all we Italians care about is watching and being able to comment on the game of football, regardless of who is playing.
Women’s Serie A, the tenth round of Scudetto and Relegation Pool
Thus ends the tenth and final round of the Scudetto and Relegation Pool. There was only one verdict to decipher, who will join Juventus and Inter in the Women’s Champions League: in the Europa clash between Fiorentina and Roma, the Giallorossi emerged victorious and secured a pass to the European cup thanks to captain Giugliano’s penalty early in the second half.
In the other match of the Scudetto Pool, the Old Lady fell at home against Inter, but the party at the Allianz is all in black and white for the sixth scudetto conquered. Touching moments during the pasillo de honor of Sara Gama, the historic Juventus captain who will hang up her boots at the end of the season. Along with her, Guagni also bids farewell to playing football in Como’s 3-1 victory over Napoli. Finally, Sampdoria bid farewell to the top flight with yet another defeat in their championship against Sassuolo.
Next appointment is the Coppa Italia final between Juventus and Roma on Saturday, May 17th in Como.
The final verdicts of the 2024/2025 season: Juventus, Inter, and Roma in the Women’s Champions League, Sampdoria relegated to Serie B, and from the lower tier, Ternana, Parma, and Genoa are promoted.

Como closes the season with three points
Como – Napoli 3 – 1

The Como season closes with a home victory against Napoli. The Lariane took the lead in the first descent with Karlernas. A cross from the left into the area by Marcussen, a header by Nischler to redirect the trajectory of the ball that ends on the far post where Karlernas finds the back of the net with an open goal to score her fifth goal of the season.
Napoli’s response doesn’t take long and less than two minutes later, they equalize the game. Banusic on the left with a long cross to the far post where Lundorf is quick to anticipate the direct opponent and tap in to beat Schroffenegger, back in goal after a long injury.
Como regains the lead shortly after the half-hour mark thanks to a red pencil error in the opposition’s setup phase. Santoro completely misses the pass on which Nischler pounces, who in a 2 vs 1 situation serves Kerr on the right, who scores at the penalty spot to beat Beretta.
In the second half, Napoli tries to get back into the game, but despite some interesting incursions, they never manage to be dangerous in the offensive zone. The Lariane take advantage and score the third goal on the counter, virtually closing the game. With less than a quarter of an hour left, after providing two assists, Nischler also adds her name to the scoresheet.
A lightning counterattack from Como with the 2000-born forward skillfully lifting the ball just enough to beat the Napoli goalkeeper after closing down Del Estal.
During the second half, there is also room for some emotion. In fact, in addition to Sara Gama, Como player Alia Guagni also leaves the field for the last time in her career. Pasillo de honor is a must for one of the absolute protagonists of the recent history of Italian women’s football and the Italian National Team (87 appearances). An important tribute to the 36-year-old who can boast a Serie A title with Fiorentina in 2018 and a Spanish Super Cup with Atletico Madrid.
Despite a good performance, Napoli ends their season with a defeat. On the other hand, Como consolidates the second place in the Relegation Pool.
Clelland’s brace earns the last three points of the season

The season in Serie A for Sampdoria ends with yet another defeat, already mathematically relegated. A very spectacular match between the Doriane and Sassuolo, who spare no effort.
The match is already lively after a few minutes with both teams coming close to taking the lead: first Sampdoria with Llopis, then Sassuolo with Monterubbiano. However, the away team unlocks the match with the 2006-born Cimò. A venomous long ball from Pittaccio to the young player who burns the Doria defense in speed and one-on-one with Di Nallo, doesn’t miss.
At the 20th minute, the momentum of the match changes with Sampdoria reduced to 10. A straight red for Barbieri for a rash challenge on Monterubbiano, making the game uphill for the blucerchiate despite being in the lead. Thanks to the numerical superiority, Sassuolo equalizes from a corner kick in the 34th minute.
Corner from the left for Perselli’s flying heel flick, a monstrous reflex by Tampieri leaving the ball loose in front of the goal line where Monterubbiano arrives first and scores. The pace, after the equalizer, slows down for the entire middle part of the match and just over an hour into the game, incredibly Samp, despite being a player down, takes the lead again.
A lofted pass over the entire midfield by Heroum for Baldi who enters the area and beats Di Nallo with a precise diagonal, celebrating on the blucerchiata bench.
Having a player less starts to show at Sampdoria’s home, and within ten minutes they succumb to Sassuolo’s comeback. The equalizing goal is a pure gem. Clelland receives on the wing and with a brilliant cross finds Girotto in the middle, who pulls off an unimaginable play: a scorpion kick to beat Pisani, the ball hits the crossbar and goes in. No chance for Tampieri who remains motionless on the invention of number 58.
After the magnificent assist, Clelland steps up and with her brace gives her home crowd a final afternoon of celebration. Girotto plays a through ball to the Scottish forward, who burns her direct opponent and beats Tampieri with a powerful right-footed shot. With time already expired, the fourth goal for Sassuolo comes on the counterattack: Samp pushing forward to find the equalizer, Sassuolo recovers and launches Clelland into space again, who converts a one-on-one against Tampieri.
Sassuolo closes their season with a victory, while Sampdoria leaves the top flight with a bitter taste.

The last missing verdict was who could join Juventus and Inter in the Women’s Champions League next year between Roma and Fiorentina. Thus, at the Viola Park, a do-or-die match for the two teams.
After a fairly quiet first half without any particular difficulties, the episode that decides the match arrives early in the second half. Haavi is brought down in the area, and there are no doubts for the referee who points to the penalty spot. Captain Giugliano steps up from the spot and beats Fiskerstrand.
The match, after Roma’s lead, heats up with the two teams hitting a total of 6 woodworks: 3 each. However, Fiorentina, despite hitting the woodwork several times, fails to really threaten, allowing the game to slide towards its natural end, also due to a very fragmented second half.
Roma, despite a not-so-great performance, secures the fourth consecutive qualification in the Champions League. An objective that at the beginning of the season should have been the bare minimum, but during this fluctuating year has become something very precious. The last chance to lift a difficult season is the Coppa Italia final against Juventus, scheduled for Saturday, May 17th at the Sinigaglia in Como.
Scudetto celebration for Juve and pasillo de honor for Gama: Inter prevails with Bugeja

Inter’s superb season ends in the best way, defeating Juventus, the newly crowned champions of Italy, at home. However, the spotlight is initially taken by Sara Gama. The iconic captain of Juventus hangs up her boots. Such a deep and touching farewell could not have a more fitting public setting for the player: the Allianz Stadium.
The Juventus male stadium becomes the perfect closure for the Juventus number 3, who is given the pasillo de honor by teammates and opponents. The entire stadium rises to applaud one of the most important and iconic players in Italian women’s football. Gama leaves Juventus after 154 appearances and six national titles, three Coppa Italias, and three Italian Super Cups, all with the captain’s armband.
The match, after these touching moments, resumes with Inter taking control and being more dominant than a Juventus side waiting for the final whistle to start the Scudetto celebration. The Nerazzurre have greater offensive presence and 15 minutes from the end, they seal the game with the substitute Bugeja. Detruyer serves the midfielder in the center of the area, who with a counter movement towards the outside beats Harkiven and beats the Bianconeri goalkeeper with a precise left-footed shot.
Juventus, in the final stages, comes alive especially thanks to Vangsgaard, who also enters and is one of the most proactive players in the Bianconeri lineup. The former PSG player, however, has to deal with Runarsdottir on a couple of occasions.

Women’s Serie A, the tenth round of Scudetto and Relegation Poules
Thus ends the tenth and final round of the Scudetto Poule and Relegation Poule.
