A massive unprecedented blackout of unknown causes has hit Spain, part of Portugal, and southern France today.

A major power outage, likely caused by a hacker attack, has affected all of Spain, leading to the cancellation of all matches in the Madrid Master 1000. Despite this serious issue, the Champions League semi-final between Inter and Barcelona scheduled for Wednesday evening at 9 pm is expected to proceed without problems.

Spanish Blackout

The blackout has affected the major Spanish cities. However, it is expected to be resolved by Tuesday, the 29th. This will allow both teams to train regularly and ensure the fans can arrive at the stadium as planned.

Millions of people in Spain, Portugal, Andorra, and southern France are currently without electricity. The main disruptions are being reported in Madrid, Lisbon, and Barcelona. Numerous incidents have occurred in these three cities due to this sudden power outage.

At this time, no one can guarantee the smooth running of the match. However, reassurances from Spain suggest that normalcy should be restored within the next 6 to 10 hours.

Trouble in Barcelona

In Barcelona, severe disruptions have been reported. Several people were trapped in a metro tunnel for nearly an hour under difficult conditions before being evacuated. Many businesses had to close, the railway network was completely shut down, and major stations were evacuated.

Similar repercussions were also experienced at the airports.

Football in Play

In terms of football, Hansi Flick’s team trained regularly at the Barcelona sports center, thanks to emergency generators. These generators allowed Barcelona to continue all activities without any interruptions.

The national electricity service has confirmed that restoration will begin in the northern areas and gradually move south, eventually reaching Catalonia.

Everything is expected to be back to normal in time for the arrival of Inter and their fans who have already booked flights and accommodations.

Then, at the 39th minute, the Dutch take the lead: Saibari heads towards the Azzurri area, and with a shot beats Milinkovic-Savic, the 2-1 scoreline going into halftime.

The second half starts with Napoli being dangerous with Lucca and Anguissa, but in the 54th minute, PSV scores again: Mauro Junior crosses for Man, who deflects it in to beat Milinkovic-Savic, making it 3-1. However, PSV doesn’t stop, Napoli’s defense does what it can against the Dutch attack, and in the 76th minute Lucca is also sent off. In the 80th minute, the fourth goal for PSV: Man scores again, with an unstoppable shot for Milinkovic-Savic. Then, in the 86th minute, Napoli reduces the gap with McTominay, the only one who shines on this bad night, with a precise header into the net. But PSV closes the deal in the 86th and 87th minute, with Pepi and Driouech. Then the final whistle that ends the hostilities with a 6-2 victory for the Dutch.

The man of the match is undoubtedly Man, with a personal brace and a great game overall, like the entire PSV attack that literally overwhelmed Napoli at the Philips Stadium tonight.
