Torino-Venezia, meeting valid for the 35th day of Serie A: curiosity and statistics on the match scheduled for Friday, May 2 at 8:45 pm.
Torino-Venezia will open this 34th day of the Serie A championship.
At the Olimpico-Grande Torino, very different motivations are compared; on one side there is the desire of former Paolo Vanoli to bring the Granata to close in the left side of the standings.
On the other hand, watch out for Di Francesco’s team: in case of victory, the Venetians would at least temporarily leave the relegation zone, waiting to see what will happen to Empoli and Lecce during the weekend.
Below are the curiosities, statistics, and history of Torino-Venezia

Torino-Venezia: curiosity and statistics
After winning six Serie A matches in a row between 1947 and 1962, Torino has only achieved two victories in the next 10 matches against Venezia in the competition (6D, 2L).
Venezia has won the last two away matches against Torino in Serie A, one in 2001 and one in 2022, after having obtained only one victory in the previous 10 matches (2D, 7L).
Torino has lost two of the last three league matches, without scoring; the number of defeats is as many as in the previous 17 Serie A games (5W, 10D) and the number of goalless games is the same as in the previous 16.
Torino is unbeaten in the last eight home matches in Serie A (4W, 4D) and in particular has won four of the last six, as many victories as in the previous 17 home games in the competition (8D, 5L).
Since the beginning of February, Venezia has missed scoring in seven out of 12 matches, including the most recent one (0-2 against Milan); during this period only Monza (eight) has gone longer without scoring than the Lagunari.
Venezia’s last away victory in Serie A was against Torino on February 12, 2022 (2-1 with goals from Brekalo, Haps, and Crnigoj); since then, the Lagunari have been waiting for a win in 24 away games, the longest ongoing streak among the teams currently in the top flight.
No team has scored a higher percentage of goals from outside the box in this championship than Venezia, with 19% (on par with Udinese), resulting in five long-range goals out of 27 total; in particular, no player has scored more goals from outside the box than Hans Nicolussi Caviglia (three, alongside Zappacosta, Cataldi, and Soulé).
Venezia is the team that has faced the most shots on target in this championship (172), while Torino is fourth in this ranking (162) – among the two opponents of the day, only Lecce (170) and Monza (168).
Since making his Serie A debut with Torino, Eljif Elmas is the Granata player who has scored the most goals (four) and attempted the most dribbles (24), while he is second only to Ché Adams in total shots (14 v 15).
Gaetano Oristanio is the player who has suffered the most fouls in the offensive third of the field (23) and the Italian who has completed the most dribbles (53) in this Serie A – however, the Venezia player has not been involved in any goals in 16 consecutive league matches, the longest period for him without a goal or assist in the tournament.

The Fiorentina has just released a statement regarding the situation at the Franchi stadium. Following the announcement from the Municipality of Florence, the club has issued a response.
New developments on the construction site at the Franchi stadium after the Municipality announced further delays and that the works will not be completed in time for the club’s centenary.
Fiorentina, Franchi Stadium: The Club’s Statement
ACF Fiorentina, in response to today’s statement from the Municipality of Florence regarding the Franchi Stadium, clarifies that the Municipality has provided information in recent days regarding the progress of the works and the delays that are already expected by the end of 2026.
The Club can only express discontent and surprise considering the cooperation always shown, such as leaving the stadium free from the end of May to mid-September this year.
Further possible activities for the second part of the works have also been outlined, which at the moment could still involve several months away from the Franchi. Scenarios that can only generate concern and disappointment. In light of the latest information provided, as already communicated to the Municipality, the conditions for any involvement of Fiorentina in the project will need to be re-evaluated.
There is still great regret for not having been able to complete the New Franchi with previous interlocutors, which in 2019, President Commisso wanted to realize at his own expense, only to realize that this was never allowed.
The Franchi Stadium, already a construction site since February 2024, will remain so with all the economic and sporting difficulties that follow, certainly throughout the 2026/27 season, the year of the centenary.
