Assistant coach of Torino comments on the 1-1 draw against Venezia

Why the change in performance between first and second half?
“In the first half, we did poorly. We didn’t play as we had prepared for the match, we didn’t press at the right times. Then in the second half, we changed the way we played by introducing players with more energy.”

Was it an issue of approach?
“I think the approach in the early minutes of the match was good. However, we were distant from each other afterwards. That’s why we made changes in the second half, to have more order, be more patient, and get the ball to the attacking third. We managed to be more dangerous.”

How do you prepare for the match against Inter?
“It will be a complicated match and we start from the desire to play well and earn three points for our fans. The attitude should be like in the second half.”

“The first half wasn’t what we had prepared for, we weren’t very good at understanding the pressure, we were often late and they were calm. It wasn’t what we expected. In the second half, we wanted to bring more energy, not just change the attitude.”

When Vlasic performs well, Torino does too.

Elmas and Biraghi helped you be much more dangerous.
“Yes, it’s true, they are two top-level players. Elmas helped the team have more quality in one-on-one situations, really stresses the opponent he targets and is a player who can score goals. He understands the defensive phase well, is complete, experienced, and has helped a lot. Biraghi not only contributed with his footballing qualities but also with his mental ones, he’s always active and helps his teammate stay in the game.”

Are there chances of seeing the younger players in other matches?
“Yes, absolutely, because it’s important for us and for Torino to evaluate the young players. Dembele has been preparing all year to be available for these matches, he’s a player with a lot of energy, understands the game moments very well, and is in very, very good form. Perciun has a lot, a lot of energy, a desire to do well, and a lot of courage. When the opportunity arises, they help us.”
