PSG, Parisians reach their second Champions League final five years later. Now they will face Inter at the Allianz Arena on May 31.
Paris Saint-Germain is in the Champions League final. They do it with authority, overcoming the last obstacle, a spirited but inaccurate Arsenal, defeated 2-1 at the “Parc des Princes” after a 1-0 victory in London. A result that propels the French club into their second final in their history, where they will face Inter on May 31 at the Allianz Arena in Munich, in the setting of the 70th edition of the most prestigious competition in European football.
PSG-Arsenal, match analysis
The match starts with a frenetic pace set by the Gunners, who in the first minutes put pressure on the French defense. It is Donnarumma, however, who keeps PSG alive with a series of champion interventions: first, he instinctively deflects a close-range shot from Martinelli, then he excels on a low missile from Odegaard, repelling with almost supernatural reflexes. The Italian goalkeeper is an impassable wall.
After surviving the danger, PSG gains courage. At the 20th minute, Kvaratskhelia – one of the most active players – shakes the crowd by hitting the post with a splendid shot from distance. This is the prelude to the opening goal because at the 27th minute, Fabian Ruiz scores the 1-0 goal with a powerful low shot slightly deflected that leaves no chance for Raya.
In the second half, the game remains tense and fought, but Arsenal struggles to find openings. Arteta tries to change the face of his team with substitutions, but the team appears less brilliant. In the 69th minute, PSG has the opportunity to seal the game with a penalty earned by Hakimi, but Vitinha is hypnotized by the Spanish goalkeeper. However, the error does not weigh because three minutes later, in the 72nd minute, Hakimi invents a right-footed shot from distance for the 2-0.
Arsenal reacts with pride and finds the goal to reduce the gap with Bukayo Saka in the 76th minute, skillfully taking advantage of a favorable bounce. It is then Saka himself who has the chance to score the incredible 2-2 goal, but with the goal wide open, he sends the ball out inexplicably.
Final whistle and big celebration for Luis Enrique, who will turn 55 at midnight and his PSG is in the Champions League final for the second time in the club’s history, after the one lost in 2020 against Bayern Munich. And it will be in Munich, on May 31, that the final act with PSG-Inter will take place!
