Salernitana is not happy. The Campanian club opposes the decision to postpone the Serie B play-out match with a strong statement.

A few hours ago, Serie B announced the postponement of the play-out matches to a later date due to an investigation involving Brescia and potential significant changes in the final standings. If the Lombard club is penalized, it would be Sampdoria facing relegation against Salernitana, while Frosinone would be safe at that point.

However, the Granata team did not take well to the decision to postpone the match and expressed their displeasure with a harsh statement published on official channels.

Salernitana’s Statement

Below is the statement from the Granata club:

“U.S. Salernitana 1919, after reading Official Communication No. 211 from Lega Serie B published today, announces that it has immediately activated its legal team and has sent a formal warning to Lega Serie B. Specifically, the club requests the immediate revocation of the decision to postpone the play-out matches to a later date, which is expressly challenged, and reserves the right to take further actions where appropriate.

The CEO of U.S. Salernitana 1919, Maurizio Milan, commented on the situation: “We find ourselves in the midst of an unexpected and surprising situation that disorients us all, from the players to the ownership, through the entire staff. We are disoriented by the fact of learning about the suspension of the play-out matches and therefore the postponement of such an important match just twenty-four hours before its scheduled time, without knowing when and possibly against whom it will be replayed. It is clear that, in our opinion, it would have been more appropriate to play the play-out matches as scheduled and then wait for any developments related to the Brescia situation. We are certain that the postponement has no legal basis because we are not facing formal or final sanctioning measures. Furthermore, we regret the inconvenience for the many fans who had ensured their presence and support tomorrow at the Arechi stadium. We are certain that they would have done the same, to the best of their ability, in Frosinone as well. We stand by them, as they stand by us always and in any case. We will protect Salernitana in every way, also to ensure the regularity of the season, which is in the interest of the entire football movement. As stipulated by state law, any penalties should be applied at the end of the season and after any judgments related to the possible penalties. Any different interpretation violates regulatory principles”.”
