After the preliminary rounds, Serie B heats up with the playoff semi-finals: Juve Stabia-Cremonese and Catanzaro-Spezia ignite the race to Serie A.

After passing the preliminary rounds, the Serie B playoffs now enter the decisive phase. On Wednesday, the first leg semi-finals will take place, with four teams ready to give their all for a spot in the top tier.

Juve Stabia, coming off a victory against Palermo, will face Cremonese at home, while Catanzaro, after overcoming Cesena, will take on another white-and-black team: Spezia.

It is effectively a North vs South challenge, bringing together the best four teams left in the race, behind the already promoted Sassuolo and Pisa.

On paper, the fate of the two matches seems already written, at least when looking at the financial data: Cremonese and Spezia both have wage bills exceeding 15 million, placing them among the six wealthiest clubs in Serie B. Catanzaro ranks tenth with around 10 million, while Juve Stabia is last with just 6 million.

But this championship has taught us that in Serie B, numbers only matter to a certain extent.

Finally, Cremonese, who confirmed their fourth-place finish from last season and hopes this time to go all the way.

On Sunday, the return matches will be played, determining the two finalists. Emotions will be high, and in a championship like this, surprises are always around the corner.

It is truly a North vs South battle, between those who want to return to Serie A after a few years, those who have been dreaming of it for over 40 years, and those, like Juve Stabia, hoping to conquer it for the first time in their history.
