“Competitive with 2-3 transfers. Coach? After the World Cup” – Football style

With 90 minutes left in the season, the Serie A title race is coming to a close, with Napoli and Inter separated by just one point. But there is one statistic that doesn’t favor Inzaghi.
One point makes all the difference in the world. The results of the 37th matchday have allowed Napoli to still be in control of their own destiny. Antonio Conte’s Napoli will only need a win against already safe Cagliari at the Maradona Stadium to nullify any doubts about the result of the Como-Inter match. Simone Inzaghi, on the other hand, can only hope for a comeback that, statistically speaking, seems unlikely.

Serie A Title Race: Two Comebacks in the Era of 3 Points
The premise: the 2024/2025 season will be the twenty-ninth that will be decided on the final matchday in Serie A history. Based on the era of 3 points for a win, introduced in 1994/1995, there have been only seven previous instances. The most recent of these dates back to 2022, with Milan’s success on the final day. But not in a comeback.
In the era of three points, Simone Inzaghi can only rely on two favorable and somewhat distant precedents. The most recent dates back to the 2001/2002 season. That championship was won by Juventus, thanks to a dramatic last-day comeback against Inter. All thanks to that 4-2 win by Lazio on May 5, 2002.
The second one was two years earlier, in the 1999/2000 season. In that muddy field in Perugia, the Old Lady faltered and was overtaken at the finish line, precisely by the Biancocelesti.
Conte and Inzaghi: Destinies of Comebacks
The most striking curiosity is related to the two coaches. In fact, both coaches played an important role in both comebacks.
Regarding 2000, Inzaghi – champion with Lazio – was the one to smile, while Conte, captain of Juve, had to accept defeat. Two years later, the coach now at Inter was among the scorers for Lazio in the stunning defeat of Inter on May 5.
A victory that brought joy to Antonio, no longer the captain of Juventus (the armband passed to Del Piero), in 2002.

Club Note I “Not Before 2027”

The Fiorentina has just released a note regarding the situation at the Franchi stadium. After the announcement from the Municipality of Florence, the club has responded.
New developments on the construction site of the Franchi stadium after the Municipality announced that further delays are expected and the works will not be completed in time for the club’s centenary.
Fiorentina, Franchi stadium: the club’s note
ACF Fiorentina, in response to today’s note from the Municipality of Florence regarding the Franchi Stadium, clarifies that the Municipality provided information in recent days regarding the progress of the works and the delays expected by the end of 2026.
The Club can only express dissatisfaction and surprise given the willingness it has always shown, such as leaving the stadium free from the end of May to mid-September of this year.
Further and possible activities for the second part of the works have also been outlined, which could still involve several months away from the Franchi. Scenarios that can only generate concern and disappointment. In light of the latest information provided, as already communicated to the Municipality, the conditions for any involvement of Fiorentina in the project will have to be re-evaluated.
There is still immense regret for not having been able to complete the New Franchi with the previous interlocutors, which President Commisso wanted to finance in 2019 but then had to realize that it was never allowed.
The Franchi Stadium, already a construction site since February 2024, will remain so with all the economic and sporting difficulties that arise, certainly throughout the 2026/27 season, the year of the centenary.

Lazio, good news: Rovella shortens recovery time

Good news for the unlucky Lazio of Maurizio Sarri: Nicolò Rovella is recovering optimally from pubalgia – early return anticipated?
The Lazio coach can finally smile. One of his most important players, Rovella, is showing great improvements. The midfielder is recovering from pubalgia by choosing to undergo conservative therapy rather than surgery, which would have kept him out for a longer period. So far, his choice seems to be paying off: his physical condition is significantly improving.

When will Rovella return to Lazio?
If things continue in this way, Nicolò Rovella could return to the field even before the November break. Initially, his reintroduction was scheduled for the middle of next month, but given the improvement in the situation, an early recovery is now likely. Of course, the midfielder will not be available for the match against Juventus in the next Serie A round, but he will be evaluated for the subsequent matches.
