Lazio, Vecino may not renew with the biancoceleste, possible farewell

There is a player who may not wear the Lazio shirt next season, and that is Matias Vecino: the Uruguayan midfielder has not yet been called by the biancoceleste club to discuss a possible contract extension. The player is deeply disappointed by the club’s behavior, but everything regarding his future has been postponed until the conclusion of the last season game which could secure Europe for the biancoceleste.

This season, Vecino has been little used by coach Mario Baroni: only 19 appearances, with just two goals and 3 assists. It should be noted, however, that a setback from an injury he had suffered greatly influenced his playing time and performance. In the Europa League, on the other hand, he was heavily involved, totaling 9 appearances.

Certainly, there is much disappointment on Vecino’s part for this lack of invitation, but the biancoceleste club has announced that all contract matters are postponed until the end of the season, as the biancoceleste can still achieve the Champions League goal. Therefore, the club will decide who will stay or leave based on the European competition they will participate in next year. In this context, Vecino’s departure is very likely.

Which clubs would be interested in his possible acquisition? The names of Benfica, Betis Sevilla, and Como are mentioned, certainly not insignificant clubs in the football landscape.
