Udinese is nearing the end of the Pozzo era, owner of the Friulian club since 1986: the club is about to be acquired by the American investment fund Guggenhaim Partners, based in Chicago and New York and with many interests in the world of sports, especially in the USA but not only, let’s see which ones.

The fund, led by CEO Mark Walter, has been the owner of the Los Angeles Dodgers baseball team since 2012, a franchise of MLB, which won the World Series in 2024 and previously in 2020. It also has a 20% stake in the Los Angeles Lakers in the NBA basketball, the team of Lebron James and Luka Doncic, who this year stopped in the first round of the playoffs but still won the title of the Pacific Division. Finally, the fund is the majority shareholder of the F1 team Cadillac, which will debut next season.

But, even indirectly, Guggenhaim Partners is also present in soccer, through the BlueCo holding, of which it owns 12%, owner of Chelsea and Strasbourg. In short, a fund that seems to have achieved great sporting results in American sports, appears to be an excellent guarantee for Udinese fans.

We will see in the coming days when the club will be sold, but certainly in Udine it is hoped that this will be the stepping stone similar to that of Atalanta, which thanks to Pagliuca has become a top European club, the one that hopes to become Udinese with the acquisition of the investment fund Guggenhaim Partners.
