Crystal Palace at risk of exclusion from Champions League: find out why – Football style

Tottenham wins the Europa League and redeems a previously disastrous season with a trophy that Postecoglou had prophesied at the beginning of the season.

The Tottenham wins the Europa League and secures the first trophy in 17 years, the first European one in 41 years. A historic result, achieved by defeating Manchester United in the final in a match that was not particularly spectacular, decided by a goal from Brennan Johnson at the end of the first half.

The statistics speak for themselves: in the second half, the Spurs practically did nothing but defend, as evidenced by the zero shots taken in the second period. A real trench in front of Vicario’s goal to preserve a very important result. A fundamental success also to redeem a very complicated season, which in the league sees Tottenham, with one game left, in fourth-to-last position.

With this trophy, however, the season completely changes its face. Not only for the historical importance of the title but also because the Spurs rightfully earn access to the next Champions League. An achievement that seemed unthinkable just a few weeks ago, reinvigorating the project and reigniting the enthusiasm of the fans.

Tottenham, Postecoglou Already Knew

A trophy that also dispels rumors of a possible dismissal of Postecoglou at the end of the season after the many difficulties experienced in the league. After all, his words at the beginning of the season now sound prophetic, when he declared to Sky Sport: “I always win things in my second year”. A statement that sounded surreal at the time, given the narrative that has surrounded Tottenham for years, suggesting that this club would never be able to win anything.

Even more incredible was that statement in light of the disastrous performance in the Premier League. Yet, now it is a reality. Postecoglou said it, and he did it, much to the joy of all those Spurs fans who see what seemed like a curse being broken. It seemed impossible, but they did it.
