Gian Piero Gasperini is the new coach of Roma. But before the decisive white smoke, Juventus tried to sign him…
Gian Piero Gasperini, after 9 years at Atalanta, has chosen to take over the reins at Roma. The Piedmontese coach wanted a change of scenery after turning La Dea from a simple newly promoted team into one of the most attractive sides to watch in Italy and all of Europe.
Let’s take a step back, before the negotiation between the Giallorossi management and the former Genoa coach was finalized. Roma, like almost all teams in Serie A, is in search of a new coach for the post-Ranieri era. From Milan to Inter, also including Napoli and Juventus: all of them have an uncertain future.
The Old Lady is anxiously awaiting a response from Antonio Conte, fresh off winning the Scudetto with Napoli and not sure if he will stay under the shadow of Vesuvius. The negotiations between De Laurentiis and the coach from Lecce, however, have a positive outcome and Juventus is left a bit empty-handed, surprised by Conte’s choice.
So, after the rejection from the former Juventus player, the new general manager, Damien Comolli, goes all-in trying to snatch Gian Piero Gasperini from Roma, receiving another rejection. The now former coach of Atalanta has given his word to the Giallorossi.

Behind the Scenes Gasp-Juve: Comolli’s Call
The renowned journalist Sandro Sabatini focuses on the rejection received by Gasperini. In an interview with Gekobetnews, the journalist shares an interesting behind-the-scenes story about Gasp‘s refusal of the Juventus project.
After the rejection from Conte, Comolli called Gasperini to try and lure him away from Roma, starting the call with the following words: “Tell me why you should be our new coach, convince me.” The response from the Piedmontese coach was immediate, perhaps slightly annoyed by the approach of the Juventus executive: “Look, the call came from you.”
Therefore, the conversation did not start off on the right foot, with the coach deciding to honor his commitment to Roma, becoming officially, a few days later, the successor to Ranieri.

The Fiorentina has just released a statement regarding the situation at the Franchi stadium. Following the announcement from the Municipality of Florence, the club has issued a response.

Fiorentina, Franchi Stadium: The Club’s Statement
ACF Fiorentina, in response to today’s statement from the Municipality of Florence regarding the Franchi Stadium, clarifies that the Municipality has provided information in recent days regarding the progress of the works and the delays that are already expected by the end of 2026.
The Club can only express discontent and surprise considering the cooperation always shown, such as leaving the stadium free from the end of May to mid-September this year.
Further possible activities for the second part of the works have also been outlined, which at the moment could still involve several months away from the Franchi. Scenarios that can only generate concern and disappointment. In light of the latest information provided, as already communicated to the Municipality, the conditions for any involvement of Fiorentina in the project will need to be re-evaluated.
There is still great regret for not having been able to complete the New Franchi with previous interlocutors, which in 2019, President Commisso wanted to realize at his own expense, only to realize that this was never allowed.
The Franchi Stadium, already a construction site since February 2024, will remain so with all the economic and sporting difficulties that follow, certainly throughout the 2026/27 season, the year of the centenary.

Dubbi su Loftus-Cheek
Se da un lato il ritorno di Nkunku rappresenta una boccata d’ossigeno, dall’altro persistono dubbi sulla condizione fisica di Ruben Loftus-Cheek.
