PSG and Atletico Madrid made their debut at the Club World Cup facing each other at the Rose Bowl in Los Angeles. The Parisians win convincingly with a 4-0 victory thanks to goals from Fabian Ruiz, Vitinha, Lee, and Mayulu.
The first big match of the Club World Cup between PSG and Atletico Madrid took place in Los Angeles. The clash between the two powerhouses of European football, drawn in Group B, was anticipated as the most awaited game of the tournament’s first day. The victory went to the team of Luis Enrique: the French, fresh off their Champions League triumph, beat Atletico Madrid 4-0. In the first half, the two midfielders Fabian Ruiz and Vitinha found the back of the net. In the second half, the young Mayulu and Kang-Lee from the penalty spot sealed the final score at 4-0.
Another incredible display of strength and maturity by the French club, who, despite the absences of Dembelé and Barcola, once again managed to take control of the game early on and dominate throughout. A clear sign that PSG, after the Treble, is aiming to triumph in the Club World Cup.
A heavy defeat for Cholo Simeone‘s team, which may have already compromised the Spanish team’s tournament in terms of goal difference. Atletico, which was never really in the game, seemed unable to counter the opponents. The expulsion of Lenglet and the late penalty awarded made the debut even more bitter. The Colchoneros will have to bounce back in the second match against Seattle.

As in the Champions League final, the Parisians kick off by sending the ball out of play. A sign of their intention to constantly attack the Spanish team. PSG immediately takes control of the match. The French take the lead in the 19th minute with Fabian Ruiz. The Spanish midfielder unlocks the score with a precise shot from outside the box into the corner where Oblak can do nothing.
In the 24th minute, protests from the Colchoneros for a doubtful incident. Nuno Mendes is beaten for pace by Giuliano Simeone launched towards the goal: in an attempt to recover, the Portuguese full-back falls on the son of Cholo, bringing him down. The referee does not call a foul and allows play to continue. PSG maintains control of the game, with Atletico trying to play vertically to bypass the strong opponent’s pressure.
In the 44th minute, Griezmann shoots with his left foot inside the area: an attentive Donnarumma blocks the Frenchman’s central shot and quickly restarts the play. The transition of the Parisians is lethal and conducted with great speed: Kvaratshkelia sets up Vitinha at the edge of the area: the Portuguese advances with great personality, and once in the area, he takes aim and beats Oblak for the second time. After three minutes of added time, the referee blows the whistle for the end of the first half: PSG deservedly leading 2-0 with goals from Fabian Ruiz and Vitinha.
PSG, poker against Atletico Madrid
Simeone tries to motivate his team during the interval: the Argentine coach brings on experienced Koke for Samuel Lino. But the script of the game remains the same: Paris continues to dominate. In the 49th minute, Kvaratskhelia hits the crossbar with a curling shot: Oblak stretches and manages to touch the ball with his fingertips, deflecting it onto the crossbar.
At the 57th minute, Julian Alvarez finds the net to reduce the deficit and get his team back in the game. However, referee Kovacs is sent to the Var monitor for the on-field review. The match official then decides to disallow the goal due to the previous, and very clear, foul by Koke on Doué. The disallowed goal frustrates the Spaniards, who start to play harder and receive multiple yellow cards from the referee. A few minutes after the 2nd cooling break, the central defender Lenglet, already booked, is sent off after visibly protesting a decision by the referee. With Atletico Madrid down to 10 men, a comeback becomes a chimera.
Even though the Spanish team creates one last significant chance. A glaring opportunity wasted by Sorloth: the Norwegian forward, served in the area with a low cross, shoots high from a few yards out in front of Donnarumma’s goal. The Colchoneros squander chances, while PSG capitalizes. In the 86th minute, Mayulu, just coming on, seals the victory by scoring the third goal with a sudden shot from inside the penalty area.
In stoppage time, the French continue to trouble the Spanish defense: Le Normand deflects a shot by Mbaye with his arm. Kovacs, after reviewing the action on Var, awards a penalty kick to PSG. From the spot steps Kang-Lee: the Korean deceives Oblak with his left foot and seals the final 4-0 victory.

Napoli, Di Lorenzo after the defeat: “We need a dose of humility”

PSV-Napoli 6-2, Azzurri shipwreck in Eindhoven: initial lead by McTominay, then Dutch avalanche
The challenge of the 3rd day of the Champions League group stage PSV-Napoli ends 6-2, a resounding defeat for the team of Antonio Conte, who took the lead but then suffered the Dutch avalanche, which overwhelmed them. A really bad night in Eindhoven, with much to reflect on.
First initiative of Napoli, in the 2nd minute with Lucca, but the shot goes wide. Then it’s De Bruyne‘s turn, but the Dutch defense saves. Then PSV tries with Man, Milinkovic is ready. Again Man in the 19th minute tries to worry the Azzurri goalkeeper, who saves. At the 28th minute, Spinazzola tries for Napoli, a shot that just misses the target. But at the 31st minute Napoli takes the lead: Spinazzola crosses from the left and McTominay heads in to beat Kovar, 1-0 for Conte’s team. After 4 minutes, PSV equalizes: on a PSV action, Buongiorno tries to anticipate Til but his intervention beats Milinkovc-Savic, back to level. Then, at the 39th minute, the Dutch take the lead: Saibari heads towards the Azzurri area, and with a shot beats Milinkovic-Savic, the 2-1 scoreline going into halftime.
The second half starts with Napoli being dangerous with Lucca and Anguissa, but in the 54th minute, PSV scores again: Mauro Junior crosses for Man, who deflects it in to beat Milinkovic-Savic, making it 3-1. However, PSV doesn’t stop, Napoli’s defense does what it can against the Dutch attack, and in the 76th minute Lucca is also sent off. In the 80th minute, the fourth goal for PSV: Man scores again, with an unstoppable shot for Milinkovic-Savic. Then, in the 86th minute, Napoli reduces the gap with McTominay, the only one who shines on this bad night, with a precise header into the net. But PSV closes the deal in the 86th and 87th minute, with Pepi and Driouech. Then the final whistle that ends the hostilities with a 6-2 victory for the Dutch.
The man of the match is undoubtedly Man, with a personal brace and a great game overall, like the entire PSV attack that literally overwhelmed Napoli at the Philips Stadium tonight.
