Roma, the Colombian midfielder is among the profiles evaluated to strengthen the Giallorossi midfield. But Inter is also moving and faces competition from the Premier League.
Richard Rios is one of the hot names in the Giallorossi market. Roma has included the Colombian midfielder from Palmeiras among the targets to reinforce the midfield for the upcoming season. The news, already bouncing around in recent days, was further confirmed today on the front page of the Rome edition of Corriere della Sera.
The profile of the 2000 class seems to perfectly match the profile outlined by the Roma management, who had the opportunity to notice him further during the Club World Cup. The name Rios is added to a list that includes other monitored profiles, but the Colombian appears to be one of the most concrete.
Not only Roma on Rios
However, Roma is not the only Italian club interested in the South American talent. Inter has also moved decisively in recent days and – since the departure of Calhanoglu is almost certain – has identified Rios as a first alternative to Ederson, difficult to snatch from Atalanta. A first contact between Inter and Palmeiras is said to have already taken place, with the Brazilians setting the base price for the negotiation at around 25 million dollars.
Rios’ contract with Palmeiras expires in 2028 and includes a rescission clause of about 100 million dollars. An evidently out-of-market figure for Italian clubs, but not an insurmountable obstacle as various South American sources assure that, faced with a concrete and sustainable offer, Palmeiras is ready to negotiate, driven also by the growing interest around the player.
In addition to Roma and Inter, in fact, some Premier League clubs have also stepped forward such as Tottenham, Nottingham Forest, and Everton, who could soon formalize an offer.
