The legal battle for Salernitana continues in front of sports justice. The club is pressing for the damages suffered during the playoffs played against a different opponent than the one originally assigned.

Salernitana is not giving up and is moving forward with the intention of overturning what happened in the last month of Serie B. The Campania club is ready to appeal to administrative justice, represented by the Tar of Lazio, to request promotion back to the second division.

Salernitana has appealed to the Tar for compensation following the events of May 19, when, ahead of the match between Salernitana and Frosinone, Lega B prematurely canceled the game for fiscal reasons related to credits and payments that never existed, involving Brescia. The subsequent playoffs against Sampdoria saw the Granata club defeated.

The club is seeking the right to redeem and admission to Serie B in the upcoming season, presenting the idea of a 21-team league. This topic has been previously discussed in the sports arena and rejected by the Collegio di Garanzia del Coni. The rejection of this appeal is one of the reasons that prompted the club to turn to administrative justice at the Tar.

President of the FIGC’s statement: “The organization of the championship is the responsibility of Lega B and President Bedin informed Salernitana. Subsequently, I spoke directly with President Iervolino and met with the club’s CEO Milan at the Federation to inform them and explain the decisions. I understand the frustration, but rules must be respected. The playoff had to be played. Salernitana made a single request, trying to exploit the situation to ask for a Serie B with 21 teams, which the regulations do not allow. I am sorry for what happened in such an important reality of our football. I had the impression that someone was looking for an excuse to justify not achieving the goal, which was within reach. It is irresponsible to seek blame elsewhere and fuel an already tense situation. The images seen at the Arechi Stadium do not do justice to the history and dignity of Salernitana.”
