Lazio, here are the various reasons behind the biancoceleste financial crisis, with Lotito forced to seek quick solutions, also considering a possible recapitalization.

The Lazio market is at a standstill, not just due to a liquidity index issue. The scenario is much more complex — and worrying — than previously thought. As revealed today by Il Messaggero, blocking every incoming operation is a report from Covisoc, the financial surveillance body of the FIGC, which has identified critical issues not only in liquidity parameters, but also in overall indebtedness and extended labor costs.

According to information from sources close to the club, the overall deficit would amount to about 90 million euros, a figure that puts the entire biancoceleste financial management under observation and forces the club into a summer of strict containment. In these conditions, Lazio does not meet the requirements to register new players and until the situation is balanced, any incoming operation remains prohibited.

Lazio, mandatory exits

The only viable path for now is that of sales. In particular, Lotito aims to get rid of surplus players — players outside the technical project but still on the payroll — to reduce the salary bill and comply with the parameters set by control bodies. The names most on the bubble are those with high salaries and little playing time, which have a significant impact on the budget but have low market value.

Meanwhile, at Formello, the possibility of a direct intervention by Lotito is also gaining ground — a cash injection into the club’s coffers, an option rarely considered in the past but now being evaluated more openly. The president himself has described the situation as “solvable,” although admitting that it is a circumstance never before experienced in his 21 years of presidency.

Some within the club are also considering a wait-and-see strategy, meaning limiting operations to the essential, cutting unnecessary salaries by the end of the summer transfer window (September 1st), and waiting until January 2027 when the new UEFA parameters come into effect. The new rules could provide greater financial flexibility and allow Lazio to return to the market with fewer constraints.
