After the extraordinary 2024/25 season, with the dream of Serie A ending in the playoff semifinals against Spezia, Catanzaro turns the page and starts the new 2025/26 season, with a new coach: instead of Fabio Caserta, here is Alberto Aquilani. The season will start tomorrow with the pre-season retreat, medical check-ups and first training sessions in Giovino, then they will go to Trentino where the preparation for the new Serie B tournament will take place in Spiazzo and Pinzolo.

Coach Aquilani has called up 28 players for this retreat, essentially the same ones as last season plus some Primavera players. Here is the list of called-up players for the Calabrian team:

GOALKEEPERS: Borrelli, Marietta, Pigliacelli, Rizzuto;
DEFENDERS: Antonini, Bonini, Brighenti, Coriano, Frosinini, Paura, Piras, Scognamillo, Tassoni, Verrengia;
MIDFIELDERS: Alesi, Gattor, Maiolo, Petriccione, Pompetti, Pontisso;
FORWARDS: Arditi, Biasci, Buso, D’Alessandro, Iemmello, Oliviero, Pittarello, Volpe.

Lastly, the yellow-red club wanted to get ahead of the other teams in the Serie B tournament to already have fuel in their legs to face the season at their best.

Modena-Empoli opens the 9th day of Serie B. The kick-off is scheduled for Friday, October 23 at 8:30 pm at the Alberto Braglia Stadium.

The 9th day of Serie B starts tomorrow with Modena, the league leader, hosting Empoli. The home team is the great surprise of the championship, undefeated and leading by +2 over second-placed Palermo. The visitors, on the other hand, have not lost in 4 games but have only obtained 3 points in 4 matches and are currently in thirteenth place in the standings.

After drawing in the direct clash against Palermo, Modena wants to return to victory to go at least +5 for one night. Captain Antonio Pergreffi, who has not played a match since October 6, 2024, will not be called up; while the presence of Daniel Tonoli is in doubt.
