“Palumbo-Palermo? Long negotiations” – Soccer style

Published

on

Andrea Sottili, the new coach of Modena, was accompanied in a press conference by president Carlo Rivetti regarding the Palumbo-Palermo negotiation.

The words of the Emilian club director, as reported by Parlandodisport.it, allude to a new on-field negotiation, as well as the expansion of the team where the club is looking for external players in view of the transfer of Antonio Palumbo to Palermo.

Modena, the words of Andrea Sottili

“I would like to thank Mandelli and Troiano because they have done important work and laid the foundations for this new technical project. We have different ideas and foundations compared to the past, but we strongly believe in them. The coach has a strong identity and we want to build an important project and a team that has personality, determination, and ambition, and in this we agree with the coach from the first look. I would like the fans to see themselves in the team and all the technical choices I am making go in this direction.”

“Surely Antonio was the most important player of the past season with fantastic performance. It will never be a problem for Modena. When concrete interest from Palermo emerged, we started talking. The times are long because he is a crucial player for us and I have to protect the company’s assets. On our part, there is the possibility of parting with the player, but we need to find a balance between supply and demand. It is an operation that can be successful, but as of today, there is still no total agreement. We are working on it, but it still needs time.”

“We will do something more on the wings, we need players who are good at defending but also attacking. At the same time, it is obvious that we are working in midfield but with a player with different characteristics from Palumbo, a pure central midfielder who can give us height and physicality, also to protect a player like Gerli. We have key players in the squad who are not tall, so in the team’s balance it becomes fundamental to put something in that fits well with what we already have. The central defenders package, as requested by the coach, is already complete.”

Modena, Andrea Sottil’s Revenge – Soccer Style

Andrea Sottil relaunches Modena: first place, best attack, and best defense in Serie B. The team dreams big after the draw with Palermo.

The most anticipated match of the eighth round of Serie B was undoubtedly between Palermo and Modena, the top two teams. In the end, it did not disappoint: many chances on both sides, great intensity, and a final 1-1 score that surely favors the canaries. With this result, Sottil’s team remains in first place, two points ahead of the rosanero.

However, Modena may have deserved even more based on their performance. Nevertheless, Sottil himself spoke of an “extraordinary performance” by his players after the match, emphasizing how a result like this can only boost self-confidence for the upcoming matches.

After all, it’s not easy for everyone to play with such personality at the home of the team considered by many as the main favorite for promotion.

Modena

Modena, promotion target

The credit for this season’s start largely goes to Andrea Sottil, chosen in the summer to lead a completely revamped team. After a very active transfer window, with the sale of Palumbo to the rosanero, the third most lucrative in the history of the yellow and blue, and the departures of veterans like Gagno, Zaro, and Duca, the management focused on experienced players like Zampano, Chichizola, Adorni, and Di Mariano, as well as promising young talents like Zanimacchia, Sersanti, and Pyyhtiä.

Sottil, coming from challenging experiences at Udinese and Sampdoria, with a brief stint at Salernitana as well, has managed to unite the group and give a clear identity to the team. Today, Modena has the best attack and defense in the league, and above all, a new sense of awareness.

It’s only the eighth round, but the feeling is clear: with Sottil, Serie A is no longer a dream but a concrete goal.

Juve Stabia, earthquake for the Campania club. Apparently, the club is in the hands of a mafia clan, and now the case is under investigation by the prosecutor’s office in Naples

Juve Stabia, chaos of mafia infiltrations

The club is in the hands of the Camorra. This is the accusation of Nicola Grattieri, Prosecutor of Naples, according to whom: “The team’s movements, security, drinking, ticket management, everything was in the hands of the Camorra.” This is not the first case of mafia involvement in Italian football, but the situation remains worrying, with Serie B now trembling. According to the version offered by collaborators of justice, the club would be “An instrumental asset, in the hands of the D’Alessandro clan,” the mafia influence would touch the economic part of the club. Here are Grattieri’s words, published in today’s edition of Corriere del Mezzogiorno:

“Before Juve Stabia there were similar measures for Foggia Calcio and Crotone Calcio. This time, however, the mafia has reached Serie B, and this is shocking.”

“Juve Stabia was a means for the Camorra to gain publicity and exercise power. Clan members were present in various services: from bus transportation to ambulances, from the sale of drinks to tickets and security control in the stadium. Complete package, the players only had to play, the Camorra took care of the rest.”

Prosecutor Melillo speaks

Not only Grattieri, but also Melillo commented on the situation of the club in Castellammare di Stabia: “The aim of the measure is to remove the company from mafia influence, which was particularly evident. The entire service network was subject to clan conditioning due to indifference, underestimation, and connivance. Even the boss D’Alessandro’s father-in-law was previously president of Juve Stabia. Now it is important to support the company, with the commitment of the Prefecture.”

Space is also given to the words of the prefect of Naples, Michele di Bari: “The repression action of the judiciary has identified failings in this company and now it is necessary to accompany it on a path of legality, because a series of companies that will already be examined by the Antimafia inter-force group of the Prefecture with the issuance of possible consequent measures.”

35,000 spectators at the Barbera Stadium – Football vibes

Yesterday, Palermo drew 1-1 against Modena, but the crowd at the Barbera stadium was incredible: 35,000 spectators, reminiscent of the Serie A era.

Yesterday afternoon, Palermo drew 1-1 against Modena, failing to overtake the Emilian team in the standings. However, what is truly astonishing is the size of the crowd: a whopping 35,000 spectators at the Barbera stadium, a sight not seen since the early days in Serie A under Zamparini’s presidency.

Palermo, i rosanero ieri hanno pareggiato 1 a 1 contro la capolista Modena: sorpasso non riuscita, ma Barbera da Serie A, con 35000 spettatori presenti come ai tempi di Zamparini

Palermo, yesterday against Modena, record crowd at the Barbera Stadium: 35,000 attendees, reminiscent of the Serie A era under Zamparini

Yesterday, Palermo was held to a 1-1 draw against Modena, with the Rosanero taking the lead through Segre but being equalized by Modena with an own goal by Bereszynski. However, what stood out yesterday was the crowd, resembling a Serie A match: a total of 35,000 spectators packed the Barbera stadium, a sight not seen in almost 20 years, since Zamparini’s presidency in Serie A.

That year, especially in big matches against Juventus, Milan, or Inter, it was common for every seat at the Viale del Fante stadium to be filled, as the season ticket campaign was record-breaking, with only a portion of seats reserved for single tickets. There was a real hunger for football after years of failures, missed opportunities, and relegation bordering on disgrace, with the then-Favorita stadium suffering (such as the 47 paying spectators against Chievo in 1997).

Now, as then, there is a strong desire for football and a longing to return to Serie A. The call made by Inzaghi has been embraced by the fans, especially in yesterday’s match, which was the first high-profile game of the season. While the Rosanero fans hoped for a win, a draw is enough to strive for a place at the top of the table, aiming for promotion. It is hoped that the Barbera stadium will witness similar crowds in the future, making the Zamparini-Guidolin era not seem so distant.
