Napoli under Conte receives first reinforcements, but the future of the Nigerian is still uncertain. Other negotiations are progressing
The Neapolitans are getting ready to start a new season with Antonio Conte at the helm and a squad that is taking shape as early as the first days of July.
At Castel Volturno, amid physical tests in preparation for the retreat in Dimaro, today was the turn of Kevin De Bruyne, the first summer signing and symbol of the revolution wanted by De Laurentiis. The Belgian midfielder, who arrived in the city on Sunday, took advantage of his first hours in Naples to visit Capri and receive the embrace of the fans.
Medical tests and new arrivals
Awaiting the official start of the retreat, there are already four new faces available to Conte: in addition to De Bruyne, there are also Marianucci, Noa Lang (expected at Villa Stuart today for medical checks) and Sam Beukema, snatched from Bologna for 30 million plus 3 in bonuses. Napoli has kept the promise made to the coach from Salento: to provide him with most of the reinforcements from the first day of work in Dimaro, on July 15.
Osimhen, tension and medical certificate
However, the case of Victor Osimhen is still ongoing. The Nigerian striker did not show up for training, presenting a medical certificate to avoid the call-up. Napoli has officially confirmed his absence, but the real issue is related to the negotiation with Galatasaray, which is at a standstill despite the player’s strong desire to leave Italy.
The Turkish club offers 40 million upfront, with two installments of 17.5 million in 2026 and 2027, but De Laurentiis wants to modify the payment structure: all within 2026. Meanwhile, from Saudi Arabia, Al-Hilal is out of the race at the player’s request, while interest from PSV in France is reignited.
Next market moves
Napoli’s plan is clear: after the sale of Osimhen, they will focus on Lorenzo Lucca (ahead of Nunez), while work is underway to finalize the signing of Juanlu Sanchez from Sevilla as a backup for Di Lorenzo. Also, Dan Ndoye is coming in: the agreement with the player is already in place, it remains to convince Bologna.
Goalkeeper situation: talks with Torino for Ngonge could also involve a discussion about Milinkovic-Savic, while in midfield, a sixth player is being sought to replace Anguissa during the Africa Cup of Nations. Finally, attention is being paid to the inclusion of Cengiz Ünder, who fits Conte’s system and can also be used as a bargaining chip for Beukema.

Milan, good news from Nkunku: the Frenchman returns to the group

The Fiorentina has just released a statement regarding the situation at the Franchi stadium. Following the announcement from the Municipality of Florence, the club has issued a response.

Fiorentina, Franchi Stadium: The Club’s Statement
ACF Fiorentina, in response to today’s statement from the Municipality of Florence regarding the Franchi Stadium, clarifies that the Municipality has provided information in recent days regarding the progress of the works and the delays that are already expected by the end of 2026.
The Club can only express discontent and surprise considering the cooperation always shown, such as leaving the stadium free from the end of May to mid-September this year.
Further possible activities for the second part of the works have also been outlined, which at the moment could still involve several months away from the Franchi. Scenarios that can only generate concern and disappointment. In light of the latest information provided, as already communicated to the Municipality, the conditions for any involvement of Fiorentina in the project will need to be re-evaluated.
There is still great regret for not having been able to complete the New Franchi with previous interlocutors, which in 2019, President Commisso wanted to realize at his own expense, only to realize that this was never allowed.
The Franchi Stadium, already a construction site since February 2024, will remain so with all the economic and sporting difficulties that follow, certainly throughout the 2026/27 season, the year of the centenary.
