Sampdoria: the meeting today
A crucial day for U.C. Sampdoria. At 11:00, in the operational headquarters in via Cavour in Bogliasco, the shareholders’ meeting will take place to appoint the new board of directors of the blucerchiato club. An obligatory step after the resignation of Maheta Molango, which occurred last May during the playoff against Salernitana. With his departure, the number of board members drops to two: the administrator Matteo Manfredi and Raffaele Fiorella remain. The problem is that the company’s statute requires at least three.
The formal meeting will serve to define the internal absences of the club. Fiorella, representing the company, and a legal representative delegated by Manfredi on behalf of Blucerchiati S.p.A., the majority shareholder, will attend mandatory. The latter can connect remotely but will not have voting rights. Circumstances, by necessity, give specific weight to Fiorella’s role, who will need to approve the list of new directors.
Manfredi’s name is a given in the new composition. The real issue is the number and profile of the other members. While a three-member format is speculated, an expansion to five or more figures is increasingly likely. In addition to Fiorella and Manfredi, names like sports CEO Fredberg, Walker (already on the board of Kickoff, a company linked to Joseph Tey, a partner of Manfredi), lawyer Francesco De Gennaro, close to the ownership since the turbulent days of the 2023 ownership transfer, and Alessandro Messina, a figure contested by the fans, are among the possible candidates.

The dissent of supporters
The relationship with the fans is one of the most delicate points. Last night, hundreds of supporters gathered in front of the headquarters to express their dissent towards certain managerial figures, particularly towards Messina and Luca Silvani, responsible for the youth sector. Flares, chants, and a poignant banner: “Board of Directors, enough personal interests and incompetent people. Work for the good of Uc Sampdoria.” A sign that confirms the atmosphere of tension and the demand for transparency, competence, and identity.
At the end of the meeting, the first official board of the new era will be held remotely. At that meeting, the president (Manfredi’s confirmation is expected), any managing directors, and operational delegations will be appointed. Only then will it truly be understood who will have executive control of the club and who will play a more marginal role.
Meanwhile, the fans are not letting go. This morning, while the future of the club is being decided inside, a delegation of organized supporters will once again make their voices heard outside. Sampdoria must face another uphill battle that must necessarily involve a credible, competent, and reconciled governance with its people. It’s not an easy task, but step by step, it can be done.

The Serie B championship returns with matchday 9, offering an interesting Avellino-Spezia clash among many other matches.
The Irpinians under coach Biancolino aim to bounce back after a setback against Juve Stabia: Spezia visits Campania, dealing with a deficit, if not disastrous, position in the standings.

Avellino Team
Avellino enters the match with 12 points in the league (3 wins, 3 draws, 2 losses), coming off a 2-0 defeat in the Campanian derby against Juve Stabia. However, this setback does not erase the good progress made so far.
For the Irpinians, the notable absence of Roberto Insigne, younger brother of former Napoli player Lorenzo. Coach Biancolino is likely to opt for a 3-4-2-1 formation with Iannarilli in goal, and Cancelotti, Simic, and Fontanarossa in defense.
In midfield, Missori, Kumi, Palmiero, and Cagnano are expected to be starters. The focal point should be Lescano, with D’Andrea and Biasci in the attacking midfield positions.
Spezia Team
A completely different situation for the Ligurian team. Coach D’Angelo’s team finds itself with only 3 points from 8 matches, all drawn. It’s hard to believe that last season they were even close to promotion to Serie A, until Cremonese shattered their dreams.
The formation is expected to be 3-5-2. Sarr will be in goal for Spezia, protected by Wisniewski, Hristov, and Mateju in defense. In midfield, Vignali, Nagy, Esposito, Kouda, and Aurelio are likely to start. The two forwards should be Lapadula and Vlahovic.
Avellino-Spezia: Probable Lineups
Avellino (3-4-2-1): Iannarilli; Cancelotti, Simic, Fontanarosa; Missori, Kumi, Palmiero, Cagnano; D’Andrea, Biasci; Lescano. Coach: Biancolino.

The 8th day of Serie B sees Sampdoria-Frosinone face off: the blucerchiati are in second to last place in the standings, while the ciociari are in 3rd place.
The 8th day of Serie B sees Sampdoria-Frosinone face off: the blucerchiati are coming from a 3-1 defeat against Entella, while the ciociari are coming from a defeat against Monza by 1-0.

Sampdoria
The Sampdoria is coming from a 3-1 defeat against Entella, a defeat in the Ligurian derby that costed Massimo Donati his position, replaced by Gregucci and Foti, with the goal once again of securing safety. For the blucerchiati, the script of last year is repeating itself, nullifying the promises of a true year zero this season. Unfortunately, they have to face reality, a tough opponent awaits at the Ferraris, with Frosinone being the third force in the standings.
Coaches Gregucci and Foti will line up in a 3-4-2-1 formation with a defense composed of Riccio, Hadzikadunic, and A. Ferrari; midfield formed by Depaoli, Abildgaard, Ricci, and Ioannou; the lone striker will be Coda supported by Barak and Cuni.
Frosinone
The Frosinone is coming from a 1-0 defeat against Monza, the second defeat for the ciociari after the one against Venezia, but despite everything, they are in third place in the standings, 2 points behind Palermo and 4 points behind Modena at the top of the Serie B table. The team coached by Alvini can aim high this year, after struggling in the previous season. For a team hungry for victory, the match against Sampdoria is a good opportunity to try and earn 3 full points.
The ciociari coach will set up a 4-3-2-1 formation with a defense composed of Depaoli, Abildgaard, Ricci, and Ioannou; midfield formed by Calò, Koutsoupias, and Grosso; the lone striker will be Raimondo supported by Ghedjemis and Masciangelo.
