Napoli, Conte: “Open construction site but happy with the work. Transfer market? We signed players for the present and the future”

The coach of Napoli, Antonio Conte, spoke at a press conference from the team’s retreat in Castel di Sangro. Here are his statements.
The training camp of the reigning Italian champions has come to an end. Napoli is preparing for a final friendly match against Olympiakos before starting the official matches of the season. On the eve of the match, Napoli’s coach Antonio Conte spoke at a press conference from the Teatro Tosti in Castel di Sangro to answer questions from reporters about the game, the team’s preparation, and the transfer market. Here are the words of the Napoli coach.
Napoli, Conte comments on the new arrivals
Where is Napoli at between the field and the transfer market?
“Today and tomorrow are the final days of an important period of work. We all know that the pre-season is a time when you work a lot and try to continue what was done with the players who were confirmed, integrating the new ones. For all teams and for those who need to bring in many players, to say that it is an open construction site seems to me the most accurate definition. I am pleased with the dedication of the players, they are working well, seriously. I have had positive responses from both the old group and the 6 new players, but it is inevitable that with the new players it will take time to integrate them into the mechanisms and concepts.”
“Balance is not a philosophy of mine or Napoli’s, but all teams must have it to be competitive. When I say it’s an open construction site, it also means that we are trying out different solutions. A coach must try, as last year, to find different solutions because the season will be long. The 3-5-2? I believe a coach must try to find different solutions. We have worked a lot on the 4-3-3, a system that suits the team and we have the players for it, we are also looking for an additional solution in case we need to give up an attacking winger for an extra midfielder.”
Assessment of the transfer market.
“The assessment is very simple to make. Apart from this transfer window, we have practically brought in 13 players since I arrived, selling seven, including top players like Osimhen and Kvara, now Raspadori at Atletico Madrid, we sold Caprile and Gaetano to Cagliari. Natan was bought back by Sevilla, not to forget a few names. This year we have renewed again, we have renewed the loans of Cajuste and Lindstrom, who were acquired after winning the league.”
“We have made new loans for Ngonge and Rafa Marin, but these are the facts. When I talk about all this movement, we are a club that is continuing its reconstruction. I don’t think that all clubs aiming to be competitive, or who won a league title last year, can create all this movement. We continue to be in reconstruction, we have won a league title but we are not at the end of the reconstruction cycle.”
“We are bringing in players for the present but especially for the future because these players are not going to change the starting 11, but they are strengthening the squad to help us now and in the future to become starters. Beukema will be the new Rrahmani in the future, he has those characteristics, he is a soldier. Lucca from Udinese will work by watching Lukaku, who has scored 300 goals in his career, but he is not a finished player. Marianucci will be Napoli’s center-back for years, he is 21 years old and comes from Empoli. It is important to clarify, to bring in a ready player like De Bruyne is one thing… but it is a different type of acquisition. We will need to complete the squad out of necessity, not out of my or the president’s whim.”
Goalkeeper situation.

“If Milinkovic-Savic was brought in, it’s because we spent 20 million on him, unlike Scuffet who arrived as a backup on loan. We didn’t get him for free and he will share the season with Meret, with the utmost serenity. We have the example from yesterday, the most striking, with Donnarumma who is probably the best goalkeeper in the world. And there is a coach who wanted to bring in another goalkeeper… I didn’t bring in another goalkeeper to get rid of Meret, but because I need more guarantees. They will share the goal, unless there is such a significant difference that we will go directly to one.”
Changes in attack.
“First of all, I want to thank the players who have left and who contributed to the Scudetto, including Kvara, whom I’ve already mentioned, he scored 5 goals and had an impact. I refer to Jack, Simeone, Ngonge, Rafa Marin, all those in the squad. They will always be remembered fondly. I also want to specify, those who have left have asked to leave for various reasons, this is clear. After the first year, I asked ADL for mandatory confirmation of certain players, there were no foundations, we had to start from a minimum, after my first year, my door is open, those who do not want to stay are free to leave.”
What is missing to complete the squad?
“I expect that we will complete it, but not just me. The question is what does the club expect? The president expects to complete the squad, De Laurentiis. We cannot do the math, the president knows the right number, but if one puts down and writes the names, doing the calculations, it is easy to arrive at the number of players to be signed.”

Milan, Pasquale Bruno criticizes Gimenez: “Those who simulate are poor players”

Juventus, a year ago was destined to leave Turin, today is one of Tudor’s certainties. The choice of the management to renew him has become a sign of continuity and trust.
Just a year ago Daniele Rugani seemed to be saying goodbye to Juventus. Like it happened to Huijsen, Soulé and partly to Federico Chiesa, for him too the club had drawn a clear line: those who did not fit into Thiago Motta’s technical plans were invited to find a new placement. But the fate of the Tuscan defender took a different turn.
Despite having a contract expiring eight months from the end of the season, the Juventus management decided to exercise the unilateral renewal clause for another year, a clear sign of trust. Despite everything, Rugani has proven to be a reliable, serious, and professional player, earning a leading role in a team still in search of balance.
Juventus, Tudor’s few certainties
In a complicated moment for the defense and more generally for Igor Tudor’s Juventus, number 24 represents a technical and moral certainty, a symbol of belonging and continuity. The club, which a year ago seemed ready to turn the page, has instead decided to focus on a player who knows the environment, accepts hierarchies, and knows how to be ready when needed.
In short, after almost ten years in black and white, Rugani has returned to being more than just a backup!

Marco Materazzi reveals: after the 2006 World Cup, a possible transfer to Roma, but I stayed at Inter due to lack of favorable conditions.
The Background of a Missed Transfer
Marco Materazzi, iconic Italian defender, has revealed an interesting background story about his career. After the triumph of the Italian National Team at the 2006 World Cup, Materazzi had the opportunity to move to Roma. However, according to the former defender, the transfer did not materialize because “they wanted to get married with dried figs,” a metaphor highlighting the lack of suitable conditions for the agreement. Materazzi, therefore, chose to stay at Inter, where he continued to achieve both personal and team success.
The Dream of Playing with Totti and De Rossi
Materazzi also expressed some regret for not being able to play alongside Francesco Totti and Daniele De Rossi. According to him, the combination of talent could have led to great success for Roma. Nevertheless, the defender is satisfied with his career at Inter, where he contributed to writing indelible pages in the club’s history. His words, reported on Twitter by Nicolò Schira, tell of a crucial period in his career and offer an interesting insight into decisions that could have changed the course of his footballing life.
