Following the 0-1 defeat against Juventus, the Genoa coach shared his thoughts on the game in a press conference.
Here is the press conference of the Grifone coach
Genoa, Vieira’s Words
Analysis of the match.
“It’s a shame about the chance at the end. We played a game where we deserved more. We conceded a goal while we were down to ten men, but we played well. We were unlucky, but we need to keep going. I really liked the team.”
No goals scored in two games?
“We can always do more. The opportunities were there. Ellertsson on the right had a great game, unfortunately, we were not lucky, but we need to keep growing and working. If the attitude is always like tonight, I’m not worried.”
A step forward after Lecce?
“We have played two home games and two difficult games. Juventus plays to win the league. We played with courage, personality, and aggression. We deserved more. We are a young team, it takes time and continued work, but I am happy with what I saw on the field. Let’s move forward with the right attitude.”

Ellertsson and Norton-Cuffy? “We had a good game on the right. Norton and Ellertsson were aggressive. We created opportunities. Up front, we did well tonight, but we need to improve our presence in the area.”
Conceding a goal with ten men?
“It’s hard to accept but it also means we need to grow. If the referee called the medic, it’s because the player asked for it. We need to wait, bring in the medic when a player is 100% injured. I don’t want to say it’s the referee’s fault. These situations need to be managed better. We conceded a painful goal, but as I told the player, there are games that help a team grow.”
How can we make better use of the right wing?
“When we had those crosses with Ekhator, we had more opportunities. Colombo was isolated at times, and that’s where we need to improve.”
How important will it be to manage the mindset during this break?
“Before leaving the field, when you see the atmosphere that was there, it means the fans were happy with what was done on the field. We played on par with a team that plays in the Champions League, and we need to continue to grow and have this desire to give more because the club and the fans want us to play this kind of game. We must not lose sight of our goal, which is to stay in Serie A. We need to work and do more than we did last year. I am proud of the team.”
Onana has arrived. Do you expect more?
“We have to wait until tomorrow, anything can happen. I am always in contact with the club, but I focus on the field and training. We have to wait until tomorrow, it’s not an easy time.”
The choice to bring in offensive forces?
“When we were losing 1-0, the desire was to create this opportunity, and we brought in three players who have that quality up front. I am happy with their contribution to the team. Ekhator, Ekuban, and Vitinha came in well and brought energy to the team.”
Leali?
“He is a very reserved and calm goalkeeper, but if we did well last year, it’s because Nicola saved the games. Last year, he earned points for the team and showed his qualities today too. He is an important goalkeeper for us.”

1-1 draw between Cremonese and Udinese, last match of the seventh round. Terracciano’s goal in the first half was answered by Zaniolo’s first goal in the league.
Ending the seventh round of Serie A is Cremonese–Udinese, Monday’s late match. A clash between two teams that have started well in the league but have not found a win in several rounds.
Both coaches focus on quality: Nicola fields Vandeputte and the attacking duo of Bonazzoli-Vardy, with the Englishman making his debut as a starter, while Runjaić responds with Atta and Ekkelenkamp in midfield, Karlstrom in playmaking role, and Zaniolo up front alongside Bayo.

Cremonese-Udinese, first half in grigiorosse colors
The start favors the home team, who unlock the score at the 4th minute with Terracciano’s header from Vandeputte’s free-kick. The goal energizes Cremonese, who dominate the first half thanks to the intensity of Bondo and the creativity of Vandeputte in midfield.
The grigiorossi come close to doubling their lead, first with Zerbin and then with Vandeputte and Bonazzoli, who hits the crossbar at the 31st minute. Udinese, on the other hand, struggles to react and ends the first half in difficulty, saved only by the opponents’ inaccuracies.
Zaniolo answers back and Vardy comes close to the winning goal
In the second half, the game changes. Runjaić’s team comes back with a completely different attitude and immediately finds the equalizer in the 51st minute: Bayo sets up Zanoli on the right, perfect cross and winning header by Zaniolo, scoring his first goal in Udinese colors.
The Friulians gain confidence and force Cremonese to sit back, but in the 60th minute it’s Nicola’s team that comes very close to taking the lead again: Vardy makes a run behind the defense and tries a chip shot, but Okoye doesn’t let it in.
In the final stages, opportunities abound for both sides: Piotrowski and Atta try for Udinese, then Vázquez hits the post with a free-kick in the 79th minute.
In the 91st minute, the last great chance is for the grigiorossi: Sarmiento takes advantage of a glaring mistake by Solet, who has had an off day, and sets up Vardy, who frees himself from a defender in the box and shoots practically assuredly but finds the decisive deflection from Kabasele, tonight the best in the Udinese defense.
The match ends 1-1, a result that satisfies neither of the two teams. Cremonese lament missed opportunities, while Udinese can only take solace in their second-half reaction and Zaniolo’s excellent performance.

Serie A, weekend plagued by goal drought: negative record within reach

The 7th round of Serie A risks being remembered in history for having the lowest number of goals. There is still one match that could prevent this.
Four nil-nil draws and a maximum of three goals in a single match have characterized this round of Serie A. Little spectacle and little effectiveness, only the talents of the moment have shone.
Serie A, the latest negative record and what must happen in Cremonese-Udinese
Only nine goals in nine matches, this is the data that has surprised everyone among fans and insiders regarding the seventh round of Serie A. Four matches without goals and many teams struggling to find a way to score for several weeks.
Abroad, it is said that Serie A is the most boring championship in terms of pure entertainment, and unfortunately, this stereotype has been confirmed this past weekend.
The only hope to avoid setting a negative record and beat those belonging to the days: 9th of the 2010-2011 season, 32nd of the 2017-2018 season, and 2nd of the 2022-23 season with a total of 13 goals, is that the last match on the schedule, namely Cremonese-Udinese, records at least 4 goals to at least equal the previous negative record.

An important renewal has arrived at Juventus. The Bianconeri club has announced the extension of Daniele Rugani’s contract on their official profiles. The defender, who began his football career at Empoli, arrived in Turin in 2012 and has decided to further bind himself to Juve until June 30, 2028. “The story together continues: Daniele Rugani renews his contract with Juventus until June 30, 2028, further binding his future and career to the Bianconeri colors. A shared journey that began in 2012, when just of legal age, Daniele first entered the gates of Vinovo to wear the Juventus jersey, starting his path with the Primavera team. From then on, a constant growth, in a continuous process of maturation that has led him to be the man, the professional, and the player he is today.”
Among the currently rostered players, Rugani is the one who has won the most matches in Serie A (90) and in all competitions (111) with the Juventus jersey. Experience and availability that never wane from a player who has always been able to show up when needed, representing a defensive guarantee and also capable of achieving some satisfaction on the offensive end – scoring 11 goals in his 152 total appearances with Juventus. A story of victories and trophies, but also of the ability to bounce back after going through difficult times. A story that will continue, until 2028, together”.
