De Winter, Milan’s new 20 million acquisition, still inactive: Allegri evaluates him, meanwhile called up with Belgium for the 2026 World Cup.
Two games, but no sign of De Winter. The new Rossoneri acquisition, coming from Genoa for a total of 20 million euros, has not yet had the opportunity to express himself in this new experience, despite the significant investment.
A difficult fact to explain, given that his profile, considering also the limitations shown by the players in his role (Pavlovic, Tomori, Bartesaghi, Gabbia) in the first league outings, would seem more suited to a 3-man defensive line.
The inactivity has not discouraged Rudi Garcia, Belgium’s head coach, who has called him up along with the other Belgian player from Milan, Alexis Saelemaekers, for the match against Liechtenstein, valid for the 2026 World Cup Qualifiers.
Is it therefore right to start worrying, or perhaps it’s just an adaptation process, with Allegri preferring to make some of the less experienced new arrivals wait, favoring those who were already part of the Rossoneri roster before his arrival, with the exception of obvious reasons for Modric.
Milan, what happened
A peculiar transfer market for Milan, alternating between promises to keep, pursuits lasting a whole summer, and luxury free agents.
Until a few months ago, the Rossoneri team seemed to have been assembled without always taking into account the coach’s instructions, at least according to some statements. An example is the arrival of Nkunku, about whom Max Allegri commented:
“I don’t know yet how to use him. He is a player of great quality, but we already have excellent attackers, and the important thing is to find the right balance with the teammates.”
This highlights how, despite the player’s qualities, the operation carried out by Milan did not fully take into account Allegri’s requests.
A modus operandi that presumably has been repeated often in this transfer window was partially recovered by the arrival of Rabiot, whom Allegri has effectively changed the career of, and even earlier with that of Koni De Winter, a player who made his debut among the greats under the coach’s guidance in Livorno. Moreover, the debut took place in a match against Nkunku’s former team, Chelsea, when the Frenchman was still at Leipzig.
The next scheduled match will be against Bologna, a team that Milan has a score to settle with after the defeat suffered in the Coppa Italia final.
An important match for De Winter, who will have the best opportunity to prepare and showcase himself, as he will most likely start from the first minute with his national team tonight.

Milan, good news from Nkunku: the Frenchman returns to the group

The Fiorentina has just released a statement regarding the situation at the Franchi stadium. Following the announcement from the Municipality of Florence, the club has issued a response.
New developments on the construction site at the Franchi stadium after the Municipality announced further delays and that the works will not be completed in time for the club’s centenary.
Fiorentina, Franchi Stadium: The Club’s Statement
ACF Fiorentina, in response to today’s statement from the Municipality of Florence regarding the Franchi Stadium, clarifies that the Municipality has provided information in recent days regarding the progress of the works and the delays that are already expected by the end of 2026.
The Club can only express discontent and surprise considering the cooperation always shown, such as leaving the stadium free from the end of May to mid-September this year.
Further possible activities for the second part of the works have also been outlined, which at the moment could still involve several months away from the Franchi. Scenarios that can only generate concern and disappointment. In light of the latest information provided, as already communicated to the Municipality, the conditions for any involvement of Fiorentina in the project will need to be re-evaluated.
There is still great regret for not having been able to complete the New Franchi with previous interlocutors, which in 2019, President Commisso wanted to realize at his own expense, only to realize that this was never allowed.
The Franchi Stadium, already a construction site since February 2024, will remain so with all the economic and sporting difficulties that follow, certainly throughout the 2026/27 season, the year of the centenary.
