With a statement released on social media, Como announced the opportunity for 50 fans to follow the team on their trip to Australia for the match against Milan.
The Serie A match between Milan and Como scheduled for February in Perth continues to spark discussion. After the back and forth on the topic between Rabiot and Serie A CEO De Siervo in recent days, Mike Maignan also expressed his disagreement with the final decision to play in Australia.
Today, the first official comment from Como has also arrived. The Lombard club, through a letter shared on social media, explained the reasons that led the club to accept the League’s proposal. Additionally, the club invited 50 fans to join the trip to Australia.

“Dear Como family, friends, and Serie A supporters, If approved by FIFA, Como 1907 will travel to Perth, Australia, this February to face AC Milan, participating in a shared mission to bring Serie A back to the center of attention in world football and ensure a stronger future for every club representing Serie A.
We understand that this journey may require sacrifices in terms of convenience, comfort, and routine. Yet, sometimes, sacrifice is essential, not for individual benefit, but for the common good, for growth, and, above all, for the survival of the league itself.
We have all seen what happens when a league fails to evolve. In France, the failure of the national broadcast deal left clubs in turmoil, players unpaid, and fans disheartened. French football is still struggling to recover from that setback.
Meanwhile, the Premier League continues to dominate the global stage. Its recent broadcast deals are worth over £12 billion for the upcoming cycle from 2025 to 2029, including £6.7 billion from UK national rights and around £6.5 billion from international agreements. For the first time, its overseas revenues now exceed its domestic rights.
By comparison, the Serie A national TV contract is valued at around €900 million per year, and its international rights generate less than 10% of what the Premier League earns abroad. This imbalance gives English clubs a huge financial advantage, allowing them to retain their stars, attract top talent, and expand their influence globally.
We must honestly ask ourselves how we can retain our best players, build competitive teams, and attract the global elite to Serie A if we do not adapt. It is not a matter of greed. Most clubs in Italy are not profitable. It is about ensuring survival and building a future where Serie A remains competitive, respected, and admired globally.
Our goal is clear. We want to bring Serie A back to the glory days of the 1990s when Italian football was the most followed, respected, and loved league in the world. To achieve this, we must evolve, unite, and ensure that Serie A becomes a topic of discussion worldwide.
Just as we proudly represented Italian football at the Soccer Tournament (TST) in the United States, we now carry out the same mission in Perth. This is not just a game. It is a statement of intent, a movement to reconnect the world with the beauty, culture, and passion of Italian football. And we want you to be part of it.
We invite 50 fans to join us on this journey to Australia to stand by our side as ambassadors of Como 1907 and Serie A. Together, we will show the world what Italian football truly represents: tradition, heart, and hope for the future.”

Former Lazio and National team midfielder spoke exclusively to Soccer Magazine about the evolution of football and various Serie A teams.
In an exclusive interview with Soccer Magazine, Stefano Fiore analyzed the current moment of Italian football, reflecting on the technical and managerial changes that have transformed the game compared to his time.
The former midfielder of Lazio and the National team discusses topics such as the crisis of the Roman teams, Inzaghi’s legacy at Inter, De Bruyne’s management by Conte, and the possible arrival of Insigne at Lazio. Personal memories related to Totti and the 2000 European Championship are also shared.
Italian football between business and nostalgia
In recent years, the national team has struggled to qualify for the World Cup, Napoli has already won 2 Serie A titles, and the hierarchy of the big clubs sees Lazio and Roma much further behind. Reflecting on your playing days, what is your opinion on the current historical moment of Italian football?
“First of all, a lot has changed from a technical-tactical point of view, but above all managerial. I believe that today it is much more about business, and the focus is mainly on that, in the management of the team and finances. There is more head and less heart. Once there were owner presidents, today they are all multinational corporations, and sometimes you don’t even know who owns a company. Certainly, money reigns even more now. Even in my time, those who bought the strongest players naturally had a better chance of winning.
Today, clubs like Lazio and Roma – especially Lazio, because Roma has a financially prosperous club that invests a lot – struggle to stay consistently in the top four. In recent years, it has happened a few times, while in my time, we fought to win championships and for the positions that matter. Today, the fight is for the so-called “lesser” cups, but this is mainly due to the club structure and the investments the clubs can make.”

Setback for Milan: Saelemaekers sidelined with hamstring injury. Out for at least a month, Athekame to step up and fill his shoes.
Alexis Saelemaekers was hitting his stride after two loan spells and finally returning to the team that owned his contract. His comeback was met with excitement, first through his words, then through his performances: the Belgian had become one of the key players in Massimiliano Allegri’s lineup.
However, during Belgium’s first match in the recent international break, the worst news arrived. In the game against North Macedonia, Saelemaekers suffered a hamstring injury in his right leg that, pending further assessments, will keep him off the pitch for at least a month, possibly longer.
A heavy blow for Milan, losing their number 56 just when he was in top form. All roads now lead to Athekame, tasked with carrying a burden far from light. Given the lack of alternatives in the position, the Tuscan coach hopes that the Swiss player signed from Young Boys last summer can overturn the lackluster impressions left in his early season outings. Until now, the few opportunities given had shown a player not quite ready yet — let alone having to replace one of the most in-form players in the squad.
