The challenge between Fiorentina and Bologna sees the two teams in completely opposite states of form: on one hand disappointment, on the other enthusiasm.

The eighth matchday of this Serie A is full of important matches, including relegation battles, Champions League fights, and the Scudetto, although it is still too early to make hasty judgments. The coach could line up in a 4-3-1-2 formation with Nicolussi Caviglia starting alongside Mandragora and Fazzini, with Gudmundsson playing behind Kean.

Bologna’s Situation

The rossoblù arrive on a high after their away victory in the Europa League against Steaua Bucarest with a 1-2 scoreline. With a potential victory, Bologna would close in on Allegri’s Milan, still maintaining just a one-point gap. In the league, they come from a victory against Cagliari with a 0-2 scoreline, with a red-hot Orsolini ready to strike at any moment. It’s important for Italiano to manage the double commitment in order to prepare for any match in the best possible way. Bologna is obviously favored, but watch out for a possible surprise.

Italiano, who has to do without Odgaard, is ready to field his players with a 4-2-3-1 formation with the trio of Cambiaghi, Fabbian, Orsolini behind Castro.

Cristante and Mancini are, up to now, the only Roma players present in the National team roster, who under the guidance of Spalletti and then Gattuso have obtained regular call-ups.

Now, however, something seems to be brewing: today, in fact, watching the match between Sassuolo and Roma will not only be fans and professionals, but also a special guest, namely the CT of the Italian National team, Gennaro Gattuso.

Nothing new, considering that the head coach is progressively visiting the training centers of Serie A teams, with the aim of getting a clearer idea about the players and, perhaps, making changes to the list of call-ups destined to try to secure the presence of the Azzurri at the upcoming World Cup. In this perspective, let’s try to understand who could be the players potentially eligible for the upcoming National team matches: first on Thursday, November 13 against Moldova, and then on Sunday, November 16 for the big match Italy-Norway, scheduled at 8:45 PM at San Siro Stadium in Milan.

Sassuolo-Roma: the special observers

The possible eligibles include three Roma players and only one Sassuolo player.

In order, the first name on the list could be that of Lorenzo Pellegrini, who after finding space in the Giallorossi squad again, after a troubled last season, could now try again to secure the Azzurri jersey.

Another name in view of the upcoming call-ups is Pisilli, who until the last match in the Europa League — that of the defeat against the Czechs of Viktoria Plzeň — had often remained on the bench observing his teammates. A partial change was seen on Thursday night, when just after entering, the young Giallorossi midfielder had temporarily equalized for his team, only to have the goal disallowed for offside.

Last, but still deserving of a mention, is Tommaso Baldanzi, who remained in Rome despite persistent rumors that had him close to joining Hellas Verona. Finally, we cannot fail to mention Domenico Berardi, who disappeared prematurely from the National team radar after his last call-up in November 2023. Mainly due to the subsequent period, with two seasons spent with a team in significant difficulties and then in Serie B, which inevitably impacted his visibility in the eyes of the CT.
